The Footballguys Bowl! - Was "Interest In A Footballguys Subscriber League?" (1 Viewer)

Well, team 10 threw us all for a loop. Times like that I’m glad to be in the middle.

Team 7 vexed me thrice. First in the 2nd sniping ETN (I begrudgingly pivoted to Pacheco), then reaching for BRob by 2-3 rounds in the 7th (I was ready to reach in the 8th) and Shakir 1 pick before me a couple rounds later.

Otherwise I kinda like my team.
QB - Love (Nix, Darnold) - got hosed here because team 8 took so many I took Love a little early, and Geno & 2 others I liked had the same BYE.
RB - Pacheco, RStevenson, FLX- Warren, (Ford, Ty Chandler, Bigsby)
WR - Chase, Evans, Metcalf, FLX - J.Reed (Shaheed, Doubs, Pearsall, DRobinson)
TE - Kittle (Otton)

I almost reached past Kittle for Ferguson, but I’m starting to think Aiyuk may be gone, which would make Kittle an absolute beast this year as the likely 2nd or 3rd receiving target.

All in all a fun draft. Hopefully I can win a few games.

Good God. You're done? Must be nice. I'm drafting with turtles. Just now in round 12.

I started a FFPC draft an hour later and we're only 3 rounds behind.

Hey everyone! Apparently I wasn't satisfied with just 157 leagues and 1884 teams on the VERY last day of drafts. Truth be told, we had some late joiners to original invites and I am creating a league to help facilitate them and get them in the Footballguys Bowl. Here's the final draft board for 0033

Given that I'm drafting out of the 11 spot in my redraft league and have been tinkering with the idea of an RB RB start if Wilson and AJB are gone, it's interesting to see a team out of the 11 ending up with Waddle and Metcalf as WRs. I'm wondering in my casual league if I'll be able to snag one of Nico/London/ Cupp that late. Starting off with Gibbs/Henry..

Go hop in a mock draft to learn the in's and out's. Sleeper is pretty user friendly, but like any new platform it does take some getting used to. LEt me know if you need any help!

The mocks are useless. FBG people are weird and do weird stuff.

Do a mock to get a feel for the interface.

Protip: I like the desktop version more than the app. The app is fine, but when I was new to it I kept accidentally closing the draft and struggled to find my way back to it.

Desktop version is the way to go.

I plan to use the desktop version unfortunately I can't utilize that at work. I have to wait until I get home to do so. With moving my kid across state lines to college last week the draft has kind of snuck up on me and I haven't had a chance to get on the site from my laptop. I have poked around on my phone but I hate using a phone to draft. My old eyes need more screen...hahaha
 
Just finished League 077 this AM .. with me drafting from the #6 slot

QB: ARich (6.07), Tua (10.07), Geno Smith (18.07)
RB: Bijan R (1.06), KWIII (3.06), Brian Robinson (9.06), Kendre Miller (16.07)
WR: Olave (2.07), DeV Smith (4.07), McLaurin (5.06), Godwin (7.06), C Watson (8.07), C Samuel (11.06), Juedy (12.07), R Pearsall (14.07), J Tolbert (19.06)
TE: Sinnott (13.06), TJ Hock (15.06), Gesicki (20.07)

Not happy with my TE but felt solid overall
Could not pass up KW III at 3.06
Feel my depth is good, but as expected, had multiple targets go a pick or 2 ahead of me ...

Surprises: Quality QB's available late; Serious run on RB's early (14 selected in rounds 2-4)
TE's went fast middle 5th thru late 6th (9 selected started at 5.09)

Me neither until I did a few Mocks .. it was very much like the Real thing in how it works ..
Don't pay too much attention to who goes where as it varies some .. and your selections will influence the picks.

Practice in the Mocks .. takes 10 min to do each Mock ... WORTH THE TIME / EFFORT to see how it works
Remember to scroll your bar left to see Def / Flex options .. not just All / QB/ RB/ etc..

Do one mock so it sinks home that you'll be drafting practice squad guys. Literally at the end of the draft the top suggested players were projected for zero points.

I am used to that as my longest running league (started in 1985) is 14 teams and has 20 rounds (and we don't do defense at all). I am used to deep benches and drafting projects....hahaha

If you can stream TEs for the first half of the season, I expect Hock to come back in spades to finish it. You'll be fine.

And WW ran and I was after Conklin > Gesicki so I might have options!
 
Was just cruising around the Sleeper website, looking at my team and the free agents I could swap out. I'm willing to bet QB J Love is available in every league.

well done with the team, good luck. this stood out to me in 0064 yesterday morning as well. i went back to all the mocks I saved last week and QB's slid by one or even two rounds while RB's went as much as 3 rounds earlier for starter level players outside of top 10. WR's and TE's were generally in the vicinity of their ADPs and my mocks.

why do you think this? i would guess no way he is available in any league. 10.5 pick, 10th QB taken in my draft.

What? I drafted him as my QB1

Why wouldn’t he be drafted?

ETA: unless you mean the safety, in which case i hate you. lol

Also, incidentally, Love’s last second Int kept me alive in the playoffs in my 16 team IDP, leading to me eventual championship.
 
How do waivers work? Seems to be set to FCFS at the moment but the settings say it should be blind bidding? There have only been a couple of FCFS moves made so far.

Judging from my other Sleeper leagues with default setup, the blind bid is just for the Sunday-Wednesday usual waivers. Puts all players on waivers when games start, as expected, and then you queue up your blind bids up until waivers are run on Wednesday at 12am-ish (most would call that Tuesday night still, but technically it’s Wednesday eeeaaaarrrllly morning)
 
Thing with sleeper is you can’t pick what you wanted drafted in each league…

I got hosed up on middle rounds as I was helping my son set up at college…..got distracted and got put on auto for three rounds,…it took players I had qued up for the later rounds so I wouldn’t forget about them….lol

Besides that it went fine…. Teams ok but drafting 15 round players in rounds 8, 9, 10 definitely hurt depth
 
A couple things I would change for next year.

- 2 minutes is way too long for the majority of us experienced drafters. Changed to 1 minute.

- open waivers or open add/drop. I haven’t played in a league like this in over 10 years. I freaking hate having to race to the website with new news. I am not always able to do this and usually will not join leagues like this. Either close the open add/drop or make it only available on weekends.

Thanks for doing this, I am sure it will be fun. Just a few things that could be improved.
