The Footballguys Bowl! - Was "Interest In A Footballguys Subscriber League?" (1 Viewer)

Yeah! Draft order posted. #6 here
1.06-ers UNITE!

If the FBI is monitoring FBG, that’s “1.06-ers”, not “1/6-ers” - subtle, yet important distinction.
😬
I have the 6th slot in my long time redraft league and am digging the results of my mocks when I either get one of Hall/Bijan (if they drop to me) or ARSB (assuming Lamb and Hill go before 1.6 as well). Digging ARSB’s lack of drama around him unlike Jefferson (QB issues) and Chase (holding out). Then I find going the opposite of what I draft in the 1st (ie. Either go RB/WR or WR/RB) sets me up nicely to pick whichever value falls to me so I can be flexible.

Yeah, mocks from the 6 are solid. I’m trying both RB & WR, because I suspect JJ or Chase could fall if more than 1 RB goes 1-5, which I’m kind of expecting to happen.

I tend to like the WR 1st round builds better. Mostly it’s about planning my TE & QB that’s a little vexing. And runs concern me. So many picks between every pick I could easily get hosed at either of those positions. Especially TE. One big TE run I’m starting at an Otton/Fant combo in a hurry.

Got my draft position today! #2. Let’s go!

Hats off to our @Joey Wright for doing the Lord's work on sorting all these.
Draft Slot 10. I enjoyed mocking from this slot and glad one of my leagues has me landing here.

GL everyone!
I also have draft slot #10. I won my main redraft league from this spot last year. I normally play with 2 RB's and 2 WR's, so having another WR to start is something I need to figure out.

Yeah, the 2 flex format in a 2 RB, 3 WR lineup is a twist

@Joe Bryant would the FBG staff be competing as well? Would be cool to beat you in a league ;)

For sure. I think having Staffers spread out among the leagues would be super fun.
Some guy named Bob Harris is in league 0006. Guess I better read more of his articles to see who he will be drafting. This should be fun. Draft starts Saturday at 10 am

3 invites left to be accepted of 1872 entries. Woo it has been a crazy three weeks getting this set up and off the ground. THis is going to be so much fun! Thanks for your patience and understanding with the deadlines everyone. Next year will be even bigger and better!!!

Thank you for all your hard work

156 Leagues. Nicely done, Joe/Joey, especially on such short notice. That's darn good for a quickly-put-together inaugural effort.

Any International fbg's participating, or anyone else drafting from outside the U.S.?

I'm flying to El Salvador on Wednesday, and will be drafting from Playa El Tunco on Sunday night.

Discovered a perfect place, full of stuff to keep my other half and her mother occupied, so I can get locked and loaded in peace and quiet.

I am going to draft in my tighty whities from the comfort of my couch. I was gonna provide a google maps link to my house, but that would just be weird.

First draft is this Saturday, right? What's the protocol for posting teams? I imagine a lot of people don't care what team you drafted, but I actually wouldn't mind seeing a few to see how the later drafts might go. But it could make the thread pretty spammy too. Dunno.

I chose the 24 Aug 10am draft. I forgot, but is this the first one?

I was assigned the 12 spot. :yucky: Unfortunate that FBG.com had to handicap things to please customers, but I understand business takes priority.

Just did a mock and boy is the waiver wire going to be bare. Maybe the mock was messed up but it went about 80 deep on RBs.

I thought it might be cool if there was a separate thread for those who want to post their teams, their strategy going in, adjustments made, favorite/least favorite pick, etc. If enough people are interested.

This would be cool. Since the league winners meet in the playoffs, I am interested in how folks from the board are doing in their leagues.

The Footballguys Players Championship Forum would be a great place for any and all conversation/Threads relating to any and all things Footballguys Bowl! and Footballguys/LeagueSafe secure 12-Team Paid Leagues, so as not to clutter up the Shark Pool Forum.

Anyone interested in discussing Drafts, Rosters, Strategy, or even set up individual League Threads could set up shop there.

Additionally, footballguys could send out an email letting Premium Subscribers know there was a Forum where such activities were taking place, in case some of them who are not Forum Regulars might be enticed into seeing what the Forums have to offer, and maybe join and particpate. Could certainly boost traffic in all the Forums.

It's pretty much dormant since footballguys and the ffpc parted ways - the last posting activity in that Forum took place over a year ago (July 21, 2023).
It's just sitting there collecting dust.

What do you Powers That Be think of that idea?

My 2 cents…

If part of these contests is to try to drum up new business, then I think it should all stay in the SharkPool in this thread (or another dedicated, in-season thread).

The SharkPool is where it’s at. Tons of traffic here and the other forums (besides FFA) are mostly dead in my experience. If you wanna show off what a vibrant and active community we have at FBG and on these boards, then keep it here.

(ETA: I’d take it one step further and dissolve the Assistant Coach forum (ghost town) and make an Asst Coach thread in the SharkPool, again, where all the activity is. 2 more cents)

Not sure J will agree with this. I mean 25 years ago some yahoo e-mailed him for fantasy advice :bag:

I'll be there drafting out of the 3rd spot while starting my vacation. Then heading to a winery for lunch. Hope this draft moves along quickly.

Interesting how there's no talk of draft strategy so far. The roster requirements differ a bit from most home leagues.

It makes sense since we're all competing against each other, but you look at the Subscriber Contest thread and people are posting everyday about strategies and roosters.

you first ;)

Sooooo many starting slots and big benches too. Makes sense to be flexible the entire draft cuz you need lots of starters.
Waiver wire is going to be barren.

I'd love for people to post teams. As much discussion on this as possible is best.

I’ll start with my strategy from the 2 spot. I know I’m walking away with CMC or CeeDee and that’s a pretty good feeling. Being flexible in this type of setting is important but through my mocks I’ve been most satisfied coming out of the first 5 rounds with 2 RBs and 3 WRs in place. I have no idea how accurate mocks are on Sleeper but it’s all I have to go off of. I haven’t done redraft in years and this is my first best ball experience.

Some guys I’m hoping for at the 2/3 turn are Kupp, Olave, Collins, and Henry. Guys I’m interested in at the 4/5 turn have been Metcalf, Nabers, Cooper, De Smith, Kamara, Mixon, and Walker. I aim to lock in my QB and TE in rounds 6/7.

Then I’ve just been selecting BPA between WR and RB the next handful of rounds and having a split of like 4 RBs/6 WRs at the end of round 12.

Some players I’m high on this year and in regards to where they can be selected are Murray, Kamara/Mixon/Walker, Kupp/Metcalf/Rice/Watson/Samuel. And, finally, all Cowboy (eww) pass catchers. If I don’t have Lamb I have had several mocks where I end up with Ferguson, Cooks, and even Tolbert which I’ve been fine with in regards to where they can be had.

The format is interesting from my perspective. Starting 3WRs and 2 Flex makes WRs (and their bye weeks) a premium. Drafting from the 5, I'm looking at one of the 3-4 Elite WRs in the 1st and then likely a 2nd tier RB like Henry/Etienne/Williams at 2.08. On the 3rd round turn it's nearly imperative to grab another top 15-20 WR as another 8-10 WRs leave the board before 4.08. Lots of value at QB out there and it seems (in mocks) to stick around until later in the draft. I'm torn on TEs this season. There seem to be more elite possible TEs in the draft that normal. As such, a guy like Njoku and Hockenson can be grabbed later in the draft.
I don't tend to be tied to specific players, nor a draft strategy, preferring to go where the draft takes me, but this is probably the outline that I will follow unless weird things happen.

I have the 6th slot, no idea what i am going to do, the mock drafting in sleeper is pretty nice though, I am sure I will do a few dozen before the start. I will post my team when I am done on Saturday I draft at 10AM.

Yeah I am impressed with the draft room on Sleeper. My only gripe is that they show overall pick number for ADP on the player list instead of round.pick (ie 1.02, 2.12)

Two big things:

If you have an ELITE or HALL OF FAME level Footballguys Subscription, you can use the Draft Dominator with the new Live Draft Synch feature on this as it's on Sleeper. It's a total game changer.
