The Great 2020 All Time Television Draft: The Simpsons is judged the greatest show of all time (1 Viewer)

Would his picks just be off the board because he has some high ranking ones (imo)? 90s-2000s comedies without The Office is a gaping hole.
I say leave his picks for now, perhaps he continues his Draft through other means if he has a change of heart and he can make up a few rounds later on.

If not, his picks should be scored anyway. my two cents...

agreed - since we really can't fairly throw them back in the pool, they should be scored.

Fair warning:

Hurricane Zeta is likely (but not certain) to cause a power outage in my area. Based on past experience, the power outage would likely start today about 12 noon - 3 pm Central Daylight Time. If it goes out, I expect a 12-24 hour outage because repair crews won't go out and work on poles until the storm has totally passed and wind speeds drop below 30 mph -- that won't be earlier than about 9 p.m. CDT.

Anyway. I'll attempt to post my status here via phone in the event of an outage.

Positive thoughts your way, Doug.  Stay safe!

Stay safe. If you want, you can send your picks my way. I have a long time until I pick again

somehow this one is still on the board, could be considered GOAT...

Pick 7.07 - All in the Family - 70-90 Comedy

All in the Family is an American sitcom television series that was originally broadcast on the CBS television network for nine seasons, from January 12, 1971, to April 8, 1979. The following September, it was continued with the spin-off series Archie Bunker's Place, which picked up where All in the Family had ended and ran for four more seasons through 1983.

All in the Family was produced by Norman Lear and Bud Yorkin. It starred Carroll O'Connor, Jean Stapleton, Sally Struthers, and Rob Reiner. The show revolves around the life of a working-class father and his family. The show broke ground in its depiction of issues previously considered unsuitable for a U.S. network television comedy, such as racism, antisemitism, infidelity, homosexuality,[1] women's liberation, rape, religion, miscarriages, abortion, breast cancer, the Vietnam War, menopause, and impotence. Through depicting these controversial issues, the series became arguably one of television's most influential comedic programs, as it injected the sitcom format with more dramatic moments and realistic, topical conflicts.[2]

All in the Family is often regarded in the United States as one of the greatest television series in history.[3] Following a lackluster first season, the show soon became the most watched show in the United States during summer reruns[4] and afterwards ranked number one in the yearly Nielsen ratings from 1971 to 1976.[5] It became the first television series to reach the milestone of having topped the Nielsen ratings for five consecutive years.

7.08 Deadwood-Western

Deadwood is such a great show and one of my all time favorites. Deadwood not only deserves recognition as one of the best TV shows of all time — I think you could make a real argument that it’s the best show of all time. If you’ve never seen it, give it a try.

It has nearly universal praise from Critics during its 3 year run. 96% on Rotten tomatoes and 93% on metacritcs.  It also won eight Emmy Awards (in 28 nominations) and one Golden Globe.  In an interview in 2012 with Adweek, film critic Matt Zoller Seitz said that he considers Deadwood to be "the greatest TV show ever."

Alright, I'll start with a category that is pretty shallow for me and I'm also not a huge fan of the other remaining heavy hitters on the board. Like everyone else, I remember watching this for hours as a child when I was home sick from school and Bob Barker of course is a legend.

6.08 - The Price is Right - Game Show

Yeah this was the one I had ranked second and believed to be an actual western :lmao:

@Pitchfork can now make 2 picks when he is ready
Well this makes it easy, since I was debating between two with that last pick. I know there are some mixed reactions to this show but it's IMO the best sci-fi series of all time, with one other possible contender. It combined political drama, social issues and sci-fi storytelling exceptionally.

7.08 - Battlestar Galactica (2004 reboot) - Science Fiction Show

we could use a 75 year old judge for this category, Westerns were huge in the 50's
Honestly after I added it I think I screwed up adding this category. Not enough contenders. Too late now but if I had to do it over it wouldn’t have been a category. Sorry about that.

Well, now the winner is going to have an asterisk (unless it's Team GallStein)

6.08 - The Price is Right - Game Show
If my grandmother was the judge (and still alive) you'd win this one. Everyone knew not to call her when The Price Is Right was on.

7.06 - Where's the Beef? - Commercial

36 years later and this iconic commercial has folks asking - WHERE'S THE BEEF?!?

@mphtrilogy
Good selection.  I thought about it but I just have no idea how this category is going to be judged so the 16th drafted commercial is just as likely to be top 5 as the first commercial selected.  It's just such a wide ranging category it's nearly impossible to handicap.

Damn, coming in guns blazing!  Love this show.
