The Four judges for this tough category are myself, @Zow @rick6668 and @Yo Mama

Incredibly tight at the top, with only one point separating the top Tier.

Northern Exposure - (1 Point)

7 Emmy Wins,  37 nominations,  8.2 IMDB

3 last place votes doomed this to its own tier at the bottom.  A fun quirky show at the time.

Wiki Note:"Over the course of Northern Exposure's run, the series was nominated for over fifty Emmy Awards and multiple Golden Globe awards. The series won a pair of consecutive Peabody Awards: in 1991–92 for the show's "depict[ion] in a comedic and often poetic way, [of] the cultural clash between a transplanted New York City doctor and the townspeople of fictional Cicely, Alaska"[14] and its stories of "people of different backgrounds and experiences" clashing but who ultimately "strive to accept their differences and co-exist".[14]

Ozark (2 Points)

3 Emmy wins,  32 nominations, 8.4 IMDB

Solid iMDB score, with this still ongoing show, but 3 of the 4 judges have this in the bottom tier and for that it could not elevate to the next grouping.

Julia Garner is amazing in this.  An intense show.

Wiki Note: ""Ozark has received a largely positive reception from critics, with praise towards its tone, acting, directing, and writing. The series has received 32 Primetime Emmy Award nominations including two for Outstanding Drama Series, with Bateman winning for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series in 2019 and Julia Garner winning twice consecutively for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2019 and 2020. Bateman has received two further Golden Globe Award nominations for Best Actor – Television Series Drama. Cultural impact
In November 2017, it was reported that the series helped increase tourism and notoriety of the Lake of the Ozarks, but did not have a significant economic impact.[63] In February 2018, a real life restaurant called ""Marty Byrde's"" was opened in Lake Ozark, Missouri that is inspired by the series, and includes menu items based on the show, including ""Ruth's Smoked Wings"".[64]"

No complains in a stacked category for sure. But have all 4 judges watched the show?

I can't speak to that for everyone, but I personally have seen all the shows (unless where noted).  And am a fan of Ozark.  Full disclosure, my rankings are the 1st ones...

The next three are in the same tier and are only separated by one point each, could have gone either way...

Law & Order (3 points)

6 Emmy Wins,  50 nominations,  7.7 IMDB

One low score dragged this behind the 13th place winner by one point.  Led to numerous spin offs and a #### Wolf empire.

Wiki Note :""In 2002, Law & Order was ranked No. 24 on TV Guide's 50 Greatest TV Shows of All Time.[92] The show also placed No. 27 on Entertainment Weekly's ""New TV Classics"" list.[93]In 2013, TV Guide ranked Law & Order #14 on their list of the 60 Greatest Shows of All Time.[94]"

The Leftovers  - (4 points)

1 Emmy nomination, 8.3 IMDB

A bit of a polarizing show and the scores reflect it, one double digit score edged this past Law and Order by one point.  For me personally I enjoyed the first season, but it faded for me after that.  Still, a challenging and thought provoking piece of work.

Wiki Note:  According to Metacritic's aggregate of critics' decade-end lists, The Leftovers was the highest ranked show of the 2010s.[61]

This one ends this tier.

The Americans - (5 Points)

4 Emmy Wins, 18 nominations,  8.4 IMDB

This was my pick, one low score brought this out of top 10 contention.  For me this show is a great mix of Suspense, Drama and just terrific acting across the board.   No weak seasons and a great finale.

Wiki Note:  "The series was acclaimed by critics, who considered it among the best of its era; its writing, characters, and acting were often singled out. The series's final season earned Rhys the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, while Weisberg and co-lead writer Joel Fields won Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series;[4] it was also awarded the Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series – Drama.[5][6][7] Additionally, Margo Martindale won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series twice for her performance in the third and fourth seasons. It also became one of the rare drama shows to receive two Peabody Awards during its run.[8] The Americans was strongly praised for its writing. The series was nominated for four Writers Guild of America Award for Television: Dramatic Series awards, and won in both 2016 and 2018.[145][146] The Americans won a rare second Peabody Award, "for ending one of TV's best dramas with one of the television's best series finales",[147] becoming the first drama series since Breaking Bad to win two Peabody Awards during its run.[148]

I'm also happy to take lists from folks for Action and Villain if anyone wants to send me one.  @AcerFC - I'm starting my work on this today so just send to me whenever if you are still wanting to.

Actually this one just edged out the Americans by one point...

True Detective - (6 points)

5 Emmy Wins,  22 nominations,  9 IMDB.

This has the 4th highest iMDB, but that must be for the 1st season as it was truly amazing, the 2nd season, not great imho, and the third season was rock solid.  The judges liked this enough to be ranked just outside the top 10 but several points behind the 10th place show and just edging out The Americans by one vote.  Part of that 11-14 tier that could have gone either way....

WIki Note: "The first season received acclaim from critics and earned high ratings for HBO. It was nominated for and won numerous awards and other accolades, chiefly for its acting, cinematography, writing, and direction. Reception to the second season was more divided, although the show maintained high viewership for HBO. The third season received positive reviews, but saw a drop in viewership.

Anyone want to share rankings on Reality Shows? I like how many are using a consensus system for their categories. I have my rankings done but it would be nice to see how others rank them. Pm if you're interested.

House  - (7 Points)

5 Emmy Wins, 25  Nominations  8.7 IMDB

Showcase vehicle for Hugh Laurie, strong IMDB score but no double digit scores from any judges. Safely in it's own tier 10 points behind the next show and 3 ahead of T.D.  I'm not a big fan of medical shows, but I loved this one.

Wiki Note: "The show placed #62 on Entertainment Weekly's "New TV Classics" list.[192] The show was declared the second-highest-rated show for the first ten years of IMDb.com Pro (2002–2012).[193] The Writer's Guild of America West ranked the show as the 74th best-written TV series of all time. 6 Feet Under (8 points)

9 Emmy Wins, 53 Nominations, 8.7 IMDB.

I had this ranked the highest.  I enjoyed this odd, sad, funny,  and thought provoking show very much and it has one of the greatest finale wrap ups in history.  10 Point gap over the next ranked show and a very strong iMDB score.  Beautifully acted and very unique, a real gem.

WIki Note: "Six Feet Under received widespread critical acclaim, particularly for its writing and acting, and consistently drew high ratings for the HBO network. It is regarded as one of the greatest television series of all time, included on best-of lists by Time,[1] The Guardian,[2] and Empire.[3] The show's finale has also been described as one of the greatest television series finales.[4] The series won numerous awards, including nine Emmy Awards, three Screen Actors Guild Awards, three Golden Globe Awards, and a Peabody Award. The fifth season has a 97% approval rating with an average score of 8.86/10 based on 37 reviews, with a critical consensus of, "Six Feet Under offers a fitting end for the Fishers by concluding the way it began: an unexpectedly beautiful rumination on life, death and grief."[25]

**TIE-BREAKER** with 6' under @krista4

ER - (9 points)

23 Emmy Wins, 124 Nominations,  7.7  IMDB

This one came down to a Krista Tiebreaker, "ER is more iconic and long-running, and it really launched some people of importance in the acting community (primarily George Clooney).  giving the slight nod to ER.".  This was the Anchor leg for Thursday Night "Must See TV" for many years, and another great Medical Show.

Wiki Note: "The show is the second longest-running primetime medical drama in American television history behind Grey's Anatomy, and the 5th longest medical drama across the globe (behind BBC's Casualty and Holby City, and Poland's Na dobre i na złe). It won 23 Primetime Emmy Awards, including the 1996 Outstanding Drama Series award, and received 124 Emmy nominations. ER won 116 awards in total, including the Peabody Award, while the cast earned four Screen Actors Guild Awards for Outstanding Ensemble Performance in a Drama Series.[1] As of 2014, ER has grossed over $3 billion in television revenue.[2] The series has been nominated for 375 industry awards and has won 116. ER won the George Foster Peabody Award in 1995.
Judges tally: 11    10    8    5

Side Note... For fans of ER... I've been watching Transplant on NBC a Canadian produced ER show... and its worth the watch!

OK, that category would have been ridiculously hard to judge.   I think Leftovers and The Americans is about as good as it gets for TV in the last 10 years personally,  but this is a murderer's row of TV shows.

**End of Tier**, This show just edged out ER and 6' under by 1 pt, could have gone either way...

NYPD Blue  - (10 Points)

20 Emmy Wins, 84 Nominations, 7.5 IMDB

I am a massive fan of season 1, and then when Kelley left, I watched just for Sipowicz as the other Detectives were just so so for me.  Pushed the edge with the Network TV Censors.... a great show by Steven Bochco and a follow up Supplemental Draft, who is the best Showrunner/Creator... ??hmmmmmm.   Has the lowest of all the IMDB scores, but still resonates with the Judges.

Wiki Note: NYPD Blue has won 84 out of 285 award nominations. The series has garnered 84 Primetime Emmy Award nominations, winning 20 of them. Of the 20 wins, the series won the award for Outstanding Drama Series;  It has received thirteen Golden Globe Award nominations,,  The series received 23 Screen Actors Guild Award nominations, NYPD Blue received 13 TCA Award nominations, winning once for Outstanding Achievement in Drama.[28] Additional accolades include two Peabody Awards,[29][30] the Producers Guild of America Award for Best Episodic Drama,[31] the Writers Guild of America Award for Television: Episodic Drama,[32] and the Satellite Award for Best Television Series – Drama.

In it's own tier, 6pts ahead of NYPD Blue and 6pts behind the 5th place show.

Better Call Saul  (11 Points)

39 Emmy Nominations,  8.7   IMDB

I am low judge on this show, and I really don't have a great explanation as I love the show.  This category is just that hard.  But I love Kim Wexler and Mike has an even bigger role in this show than on BB.  Gilligan struck gold with these characters and continued to mine them with great results. itsaulgoodman..

Wiki Note: Better Call Saul has received critical acclaim, with particular praise for its acting, characters, writing, direction, and cinematography; many critics have called it a worthy successor to Breaking Bad and one of the best prequels ever made, with some deeming it superior to its predecessor.[6][7][8] It has garnered many nominations, including a Peabody Award, 23 Primetime Emmy Awards, eleven Writers Guild of America Awards, five Critics' Choice Television Awards, four Screen Actors Guild Awards, and three Golden Globe Awards. The series premiere held the record for the highest-rated scripted series premiere in basic cable history at the time of its airing.

West Wing - (12 points)

26 Emmy Wins, 95 Nominations,  8.8 IMDB

Not sure any political drama like this can work anymore, but back when this was on, it was terrific.  Sorkin did a masterful writing job and lots of great Actor engagement in this as well.  Certainly of its time and the Judges did not forget, strong scores across the board, clear 5th place winner and a strong IMDB of 8.8.   In its own tier 4 points behind the 4th place show.

Wiki Note: "The West Wing has been ranked among the best television shows of all time in publications such as Time,[3] TV Guide,[4][5] Empire,[6] Rolling Stone,[7] and the New York Daily News.[8] The Writers Guild of America ranked it no. 10 in its "101 Best-Written TV Series" list.[9] It has received praise from critics, political science professors, and former White House staffers and has been the subject of critical analysis. The West Wing received a multitude of accolades, including two Peabody Awards, three Golden Globe Awards, and 26 Primetime Emmy Awards, including the award for Outstanding Drama Series, which it won four consecutive times from 2000–2003. Mad Men - (13 points)

70 Emmy wins!    229 Nominations!   8.6 IMDB

Will be interesting to see how this show will age, but watching it in real time, it was a fantastic watch.  Hamm finally getting his well deserved Emmy in the final season, and great work by the supporting cast, another rich and dense show with multiple storylines converging.  Received three 4th place and one 5th place vote settling in as the clear 4th in this category.

Wiki Note: "Mad Men received widespread critical acclaim for its writing, acting, directing, visual style, and historical authenticity; it won many awards, i...The show was also the first basic cable series to receive the Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series, winning the award each year of its first four seasons (2008–2011).[3] It is widely regarded as one of the greatest television series of all time, 229 Nominations and 70 wins"

This was me.  This was incredibly hard, my opinions factored significantly.  There is nothing bad in here, nothing deserves a 1 score.

My bottom 5 were all within 3 points of their final rankings.   This is much different then having what should have been a top 3 getting a bottom 3 score. :hot:

I was just joking around - I love the show but I get why it would rank low.  It' totally formulaic and almost no continuing drama from season to season.  It's just a great show when you have 40 minutes to kill - you can virtually watch any episode out of the 400+ and not need context or backstory.  I've always been a sucker for the format.

It's all good.  This was the hardest one to rank IMO.

Yeah I thought I had a steal with that pick. Best show of the decade for me after Better Call Saul and BB. Thankfully, um, a particular judge saved me... #awkward.

thanks @mphtrilogy for the help. Id honestly love to get one more set of rankings to get a better aggregated score. If someone wants to help out send me your rankings and I  can start rolling these out today.

I still have 2 of the 3 easily above the 3rd.  And my and Bobby's pick isn't even my favorite of the 3.
Interesting. I went Wire, BB, then Sopranos but it's stupid close.

ETA: While I had Mad Men 4th, I had included it in my clear top tier.
