The Inauguration (1 Viewer)

You should Tim. The idea of Washington not taking another term was partially the idea that power shouldn't be concentrated in one executive for that long. I am pretty sure he would have felt the same about their spouses. I know I do.
I guess I just see people as individuals. Hillary, for better or worse, was her own person, not Bill #2. I get that not everyone saw it that way and it may have been part of the reason she lost, but it's the way I saw it.

Beyond that though, so long as we get to vote every 4 years I really don't care about limiting somebody's power. I look at FDR and, despite his many faults, regard him as one of our very greatest Presidents. If I were in charge Barack Obama would be allowed to run again, and again, and as many times as he chose to until the public didn't want him any longer. I am opposed to all term limits.

I'd probably nuke Alexandria and expel Texas from the nation within hours. Drunk with power, I would assemble the first Presidential Harem by day 6, comprised entirely of young nubile pop singers, late-2000s porn stars, and Jennifer Connelly.  By week 4, every major religious icon on public grounds would be encased in a giant commemorative pet rock.
Put that on a bumper sticker.  Ford 2020!

There would be absolutely no Democratic party left if Obama got another term. And for everything wrong with the DNC we need an opposition party. So we need them. We need to radically change them but we need them. Obama was hollowing them out. 1000 legislative seats lost Tim.

Granted. But I think we probably disagree on the reason those seats were lost.

I still really want her to run for President in 2020. She has no experience, but that's out the window now. She is the most well known Democrat that is eligible to run, and the most liked.

I know she doesn't want it, but she also appears to be somebody who takes duty seriously. I'm pretty confident she would defeat Donald Trump- easily. I'm not so sure about anybody else.
Biden.

Or Henry Ford. I'd be happy with either one.

So 2016 was the hottest year on record (the 4th year in a row) and the first thing that the Trump Administration does is remove all discussion of climate change from the Presidential website. Awesome! Here we go!

Oh yeah the bubble is going to burst again and taxpayers will be on the hook again. Whether or not this change was made. Another bubble is inevitable as absolutely nothing was done to stop another one. And the point is it was going to get a bit cheaper to buy a house now it isn't. Which is what i said. I didn't argue the program. I made no pronouncements on the right or wrong of the FHA lowering the rate only that they were going to and now they aren't. So it will be more expensive for someone to buy a house in the coming year than it would have been. Fact.
When Obama signed this like ten days ago, he knew there was a high probability it would be reversed.

FHA reduced the insurance by a much larger rate about a year ago. There are wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy more buyers out there now than sellers. Many areas are at historic low inventory levels.   This was a political ploy. Incentives aren't needed right now, more entry level new housing is needed and most builders are concentrating on higher entry levels.

I'd love to see this insurance get reduced if the insurance pool was incredibly safe, but that's not why he did it.

Obama redirecting the resources away from the states and into his personal organizing committee? Barry gets re-elected everyone else screw off? Cause that's a big reason. Ask any of the candidates that had to run with virtually no help from the DNC. And of course we can throw in the inept leadership of DWS may she roast in hell.

Well sure, all those might be factors- I don't know the details about them that you seem to. But I think it has more to do with the successful redistricting effort, combined with Republicans having a better message in terms of state legislatures: quite simply, they offer to cut taxes and cut programs that don't by appearances affect the middle class (though they really do.)

This is SOP, every administration removes the previous administration's policy guidance on day one.  Obama did it to Bush, Bush did it to Clinton, and before that no one noticed because Al Gore hadn't invented the internet.

But despite all the current troubles I continue to believe the Democratic Party will come to dominate American politics. Too many numbers: Latinos, blacks, millennials. Trump's victory was IMO a last successful gasp of rural whites. It's not gonna last.

The fund is currently positive about 36 billion dollars. The latest actuarial report says that by 2023 it will be positive over 100 billion. Let's not pretend that it's broke or anything. it isn't. As far as political ploy goes, really? This was done very quietly and except for news junkies and professionals like yourself it passed largely unnoticed. Sure wasn't a very effective ploy if that was it's intent.

Gerrymandering is certainly a problem. But it has been overcome before. The lack of resources makes it really hard to do that though. That's why i am so excited to see people combining new media and old fashioned retail politics to cuts the costs to campaigns. I am excited by the young people bringing tech and passion to this problem. We have only lost a battle here the war rages on and I am betting on the kids. Not tired retreads or more of the same. The kids are going to save us in spite of ourselves. Seeing them get involved and find a reason to be passionate about politics is the best gift Trumps election gave us.

I'm not pretending it's broke.  We all did find it odd that it was announced when It was. There were no signs it was going to happen.  Just my opinion that it was a ploy because of how late it was done in his term and that he knew it probably would be overturned to make Trump look bad to the public.  That's all I'm saying.

So how much is in the fund now?

Was one trying to jitterbug while the other was trying to twerk?
I have no idea.  It was just so odd. Set politics aside ... it seemed like they were in 6th grade performing their first dance together. She obviously has no interest, and the feeling is mutual with him.

Lastly, i am all for keeping the presidential kids out of the spotlight. I do not think that Barron for example, should be covered in the media at all - let him be a kid as much as possible. However, the times when he is covered by the media ... makes me wonder if Rosie's assessment was correct. I wouldn't be surprised given Trump's stance on vaccinations.

Who did the millennials support this election?
Clinton won the millennial vote. And in this election the GOP got the 4th lowest number of youth votes it has gotten since 1972. However more millenials voted 3rd party then they did under Obama which hurt Clinton.

Fathers over 40 tend to produce more autistic children according to studies. The sperm begins to degrade and it leads to more birth defects and other issues.

Interesting. First thought was Sanders.

HRC had the votes, but couldn't seal the deal. Blah.

I'll try to find the exact number but it'sd getting late and I have to call it. Hopefully I can get back to you tomorrow on that.

Well I assumed we were talking the general. Sanders was cleaning up with millenials in the primaries. He certainly would have carried them in the general probably at Obama levels or better.

It could be why Donald is so vocally against vaccines... He wants nothing to do with his age and his son.

i personally, respect their privacy, and especially Barron's. But, if Barron is autistic, then I hope Trump takes a position of additional funding for the cause. It would definitely turn me from absolutely despising him to a "maybe he's not that bad?"

I was asking about the general. Do you think Sanders would have won the election v Trump?

Just keep hanging your hopes on those polls and MSNBC.   They'll NEVER let you down!

Does the white house sure have a forum or does the discussion take place in the comments section?

I wish fringe ###holes from both sides would stop intimidating people, damaging property, and dividing the country.  I feel like a "Republicrat Anti-####head" Party would crush things these days.

Congrats to the Trump guys here. Earned victory. I'd like Trump to earn my vote in 2020. :notabedwetter:
Pretty much.  I am a patriot first before party.  I always want what's best for the country.  If charter schools are best for the country, fund them.  Infrastructure is badly needed...fund that.  I don't believe in trickle down economics, but for the little guy, if he can grow hus business and hire on an extra laborer...that's awesome.

That said, I will give him a chance, what choice is there anyway?  These protesters should be knocking on doors instead of busting windows.
