That's sort of what kind of thing you hope to provoke by protesting against the power structure. A lot of Trump's appeal has been to the "law and order" types and authoritarians in general; one way to illustrate how crappy those fundamentals are is to goad the people in charge into using excessive force. For every person it appeals to, it probably alienates two more. If it doesn't, we're doomed anyway.

On an unrelated note, we're not really going to do this silly "National Patriotism Day," are we? Large parts of the country are really uncomfortable with jingoism and military parades, etc.

Well, the problem is that your "concern" is selective, which makes you appear disingenuous at best. When the murder rate goes up in certain places, you suddenly act "concerned". BLM is the laughingstock of how protesting should take place.  They aren't protesting, just looking for an opportunity to bring out violence.
