My 7 yo daughter doesn't usually notice cars but when we got to school one day last week she literally gasped and stop walking. I turn around and she was staring at a jacked up Jeep Wranger something like this and said "I want that".![]()
I haven't taken doors off yet. Icon, question: where do you store your doors when they're off? These SOBs are HEAVY first of all. Taking them off is in my experience a two man job, at least on a JK with power windows. Second I can't figure out where to put them other than just lean them up against the wall in the garage?? Thinking about making a wheeled cart to wheel out and throw them into and then wheel them back into the garage.![]()

That's awesome. my GF's nieces loved riding in my jeep, usually fighting over front seat (with doors off) on trips around town and stuff. Kids definitely dig jeeps. That's cute.![]()
It can be a one man job pretty easily. Rolling the windows down first is key. Position yourself on the inside of the door and reach through the window and grab the outer door handle. Makes it much easier.I haven't taken doors off yet. Icon, question: where do you store your doors when they're off? These SOBs are HEAVY first of all. They're pretty heavy, but not necessarily a two person job, hell my wife can take them off by herself, and she's 5'6, you'll be fine. We bought a workout type yoga mat and just lean them up against the wall in the garage. But definitely would love to see some other people's ideas for the door storage.I haven't taken doors off yet. I do it myself easily and I'm no gym monkey. I spray a little WD40 into the opening after I take them off the first time each year. Makes putting them back pretty smooth. Lube always helps.Spin said:They're pretty heavy, but not necessarily a two person job, hell my wife can take them off by herself, and she's 5'6, you'll be fine. My wife hasn't set foot in my jeep since the doors came off. I don't think I'm ever going to put them back on...Hate to say it, but the doors haven't come off on mine, either. For one, no garage... but mostly it's because I literally could not get the wife in the car. As it is, half the time with the front roof panels off, she is back in her "cabin"
If ever there's a reason for nomarriage.com singles guys, this is it.
If that didn't mean me having to drive her pigsty of an acura, that might be an option. My wife hasn't set foot in my jeep since the doors came off. I don't think I'm ever going to put them back on...
Here's how it turned out.Well, my jeep is about to hit 10k miles, so figured it was time to #### or get off the pot.
On order:
- 2.5" Metal Cloak true dual rate lift kit w/ Fox shocks
- Metal Cloak exhaust spacer kit
- 35" Nitti Trail Grapplers on Method 105 beadlock wheels
- Superchips Flashcal
- Teraflex hinged tire carrier/mount
The shop is also going to gusset and truss the front axle, but I'll be installing everything else myself with a few friends. Only bad part is the lift won't ship for 3-4 weeks.
You took a pic in better light?
QuadraTop Emergency TopSomeone could make a lot of money with an emergency top for those of us who are completely topless. Lots of days I'm afraid to go too far because you never know when a summer storm will roll in. If someone sold an emergency rainstorm top that wasn't intended for long term, but just for the surprise storm, and could pack up small and easily, I would buy a bunch. Got caught in one rainstorm, and it's hard driving with blinding rain in your eyes...
I was talking it over with a buddy at work as his daughter wants one. They get lousy gas mileage, ride poorly, can't go very fast and are not cheap. Other than that, they're freaking awesome!never really had an opinion on Jeep's one way or another. thought some of them looked cool when i was younger but never had the urge to buy one.
made mention of that to a guy i work with several years ago after he was telling me about how much he loved his Jeep.
ever since then this guy has been nagging me, like a bitter old woman, to buy a Jeep. he's a Jeep evangelist.
in the time since i've known him (12 years) i have owned 2 cars. the second one i just bought 8 months ago.
in the time since i've known him he has owned 4 Jeep's. one was destroyed in a rollover. the other two #### the bed and the current one has "been at the mechanic" for the last 3+ weeks while he rolls around in his freaking mother in law's car.
he can't stop talking about how much he loves Jeep. and all i can think is, i wonder if he's in abusive relationship. were his parents masters of psychological warfare? is his a broken mind?
the engine on my car quit after 15 years and i was disappointed. he's had 3 fall apart underneath him and he keeps jacking off to how great they are.

Good thing my theoretical budget is $13,500, so I won't be tempted.Putting mine up for sale for ~$14k in a week or so.... just not driving it enough to warrant having the cash tied up in it.
Has brand new professionally installed 4.0L engine and about $10k in top end modifications to it.... kinda ridiculous to sell at 14k but that's what the market will dictate.Good thing my theoretical budget is $13,500, so I won't be tempted.
They certainly make most of the "worst new cars" lists I see. The only Jeep I owned I bought new, and had it less than two years (wife got pregnant, Jeep was main car and baby seat didn't fit in the back), so I never experienced any issues. I really would like to get another for myself when my 14 year old needs a car and hand mine down to him. However, I feel like getting a used one is like playing roulette.never really had an opinion on Jeep's one way or another. thought some of them looked cool when i was younger but never had the urge to buy one.

I thought Jeep's held their value like crazy? Looking online I'm shocked at what is available at that price range.Has brand new professionally installed 4.0L engine and about $10k in top end modifications to it.... kinda ridiculous to sell at 14k but that's what the market will dictate.
They do. I paid $15k in 2006. I'm selling it for $14k now. Granted, it's beefed up a LOT of you're never going to see much out of your investment in modifications usually 30-40% is the rule.I thought Jeep's held their value like crazy? I ordered those bar/doors and they looked great. The only problem was the passenger side didn't latch well at all and I just couldn't get it right. I took them off and they are now in my garage because I'm too lazy to send them back.Ok now I need to remove the doors given all these responses.
Do any of you guys remove doors with kids in the car? I'm thinking I'll swap in those half doors that are just bars. Totally unsafe? The girls are buckled into car seats, but still I would want something there
TIA
Ah, gotcha. Ya, I'd say that there is a small range of prices based primarily on a small number of factors (age, model, miles). Specific details beyond that don't seem to matter too much. They do. It's a jeep thing. You wouldn't understand.I was talking it over with a buddy at work as his daughter wants one. They get lousy gas mileage, ride poorly, can't go very fast and are not cheap. Other than that, they're freaking awesome!
You ever end up selling this thing?Putting mine up for sale for ~$14k in a week or so.... just not driving it enough to warrant having the cash tied up in it.
Havent put it up for sale yet, naw. Shop is finishing up the engine swap (installing new motor mount bushings) and going through the suspension and such to make sure everything's hunky dory. Hoping to have it back in a week or two.You ever end up selling this thing?
I bet you're the envy of all the other moms in the neighborhood. You guys are still driving Jeep wranglers? It's time to grow up and look at Chrysler Pacificas. I'm not sure if you can get them in matte black though.
