If you don't have at least 12 forward facing lights on your Jeep you're doing it wrong.

Also, chrome.... lots of chrome.

icon, you'll like this one...

My 7 yo daughter doesn't usually notice cars but when we got to school one day last week she literally gasped and stop walking.  I turn around and she was staring at a jacked up Jeep Wranger something like this and said "I want that".

That's awesome. my GF's nieces loved riding in my jeep, usually fighting over front seat (with doors off) on trips around town and stuff. Kids definitely dig jeeps. That's cute. :)

I haven't taken doors off yet. Icon, question: where do you store your doors when they're off?  These SOBs are HEAVY first of all. Taking them off is in my experience a two man job, at least on a JK with power windows. Second I can't figure out where to put them other than just lean them up against the wall in the garage??  Thinking about making a wheeled cart to wheel out and throw them into and then wheel them back into the garage.

It can be a one man job pretty easily.  Rolling the windows down first is key.  Position yourself on the inside of the door and reach through the window and grab the outer door handle.  Makes it much easier.

I bought some of those big padded hooks at Home Depot to hang them but haven't put them up in my garage yet.

To make reinstalling easier, they make pins that screw on the threaded part of the door pins.  I also replaced the door hinge bushings the make it smoother.

They're pretty heavy, but not necessarily a two person job, hell my wife can take them off by herself, and she's 5'6, you'll be fine.  We bought a workout type yoga mat and just lean them up against the wall in the garage.  But definitely would love to see some other people's ideas for the door storage.

My doors and top have been off for a few months. I have one of those Spider mesh tops just covering the front seats. It's a blast driving around like that. I just lean my doors agains the garage wall.

I just realized yesterday that in the back if you lift up the little doo-dad that acts like a "trunk," the little storage compartment, there are slots for the screws for the top and the bolts for the doors. Pretty cool!

I'm heading up to Crown King AZ Friday from Lake Pleasant. It's supposed to be an awesome ride. My buddy and I will have plenty of beer and sandwiches on hand.

YO!

Yeah the doors are a one man job once you get the hang of it. I don't even know where my door nuts are anymore... I just leave them off. I suggest a little WD40 when removing/inserting to make them slide a little easier.

Storage, I've always just leaned mine against some utility shelving next to where I park. If you're worried about them, I'd place some clear tape on the base, or just set them on a yoga mat like mentioned earlier.

My jeep is still down at the shop. Went to pick it up from the engine swap a couple weeks ago but the timing was off and it was very rough. It's been ready for a week or so now, but just haven't been able to get down and grab it. Hoping to do so this weekend. It's been almost 8 months since I drove it with ANY regularity. Im ready to get it back...

I do it myself easily and I'm no gym monkey. I spray a little WD40 into the opening after I take them off the first time each year. Makes putting them back pretty smooth. Lube always helps.

Well, my jeep is about to hit 10k miles, so figured it was time to #### or get off the pot.

On order:

- 2.5" Metal Cloak true dual rate lift kit w/ Fox shocks

- Metal Cloak exhaust spacer kit

- 35" Nitti Trail Grapplers on Method 105 beadlock wheels

- Superchips Flashcal

- Teraflex hinged tire carrier/mount

The shop is also going to gusset and truss the front axle, but I'll be installing everything else myself with a few friends.  Only bad part is the lift won't ship for 3-4 weeks.

Had an epic jeep trip last weekend. My buddy and I took the back way from Lake Pleasant to Crown King, AZ. It's about a three hour ride (we went slow and drank beer and hung out along the way). There are some pretty hairy spots, and it was a great way to really break the jeep in. The wonderful thing is there is this awesome little bar in Crown King with great burgers and beers, and they tasted great after 3 hours in 105 degrees with no top and doors. We kept going to Prescott and hung out there for the weekend. Really great trip.

Here's the trail we took:

And here are some pics of the jeep, and my buddy and me in Crown King eating and drinking (I'm on the left).

Hate to say it, but the doors haven't come off on mine, either.  For one, no garage... but mostly it's because I literally could not get the wife in the car.  As it is, half the time with the front roof panels off, she is back in her "cabin"

If ever there's a reason for nomarriage.com singles guys, this is it.

My wife hasn't set foot in my jeep since the doors came off. I don't think I'm ever going to put them back on...

If that didn't mean me having to drive her pigsty of an acura, that might be an option.

Oh, that and the threat of rain every other day in the summer months with a few dry stretches doesn't help.

Ok now I need to remove the doors given all these responses.

Do any of you guys remove doors with kids in the car?  I'm thinking I'll swap in those half doors that are just bars. Totally unsafe?  The girls are buckled into car seats, but still I would want something there

TIA

Someone could make a lot of money with an emergency top for those of us who are completely topless. Lots of days I'm afraid to go too far because you never know when a summer storm will roll in. If someone sold an emergency rainstorm top that wasn't intended for long term, but just for the surprise storm, and could pack up small and easily, I would buy a bunch. Got caught in one rainstorm, and it's hard driving with blinding rain in your eyes...

never really had an opinion on Jeep's one way or another. thought some of them looked cool when i was younger but never had the urge to buy one.

made mention of that to a guy i work with several years ago after he was telling me about how much he loved his Jeep.

ever since then this guy has been nagging me, like a bitter old woman, to buy a Jeep.  he's a Jeep evangelist.

in the time since i've known him (12 years) i have owned 2 cars. the second one i just bought 8 months ago.

in the time since i've known him he has owned  4 Jeep's.  one was destroyed in a rollover. the other two #### the bed and the current one has "been at the mechanic" for the last 3+ weeks while he rolls around in his freaking mother in law's car.

he can't stop talking about how much he loves Jeep. and all i can think is, i wonder if he's in abusive relationship. were his parents masters of psychological warfare? is his a broken mind?

the engine on my car quit after 15 years and i was disappointed. he's had 3 fall apart underneath him and he keeps jacking off to how great they are.

Putting mine up for sale for ~$14k in a week or so.... just not driving it enough to warrant having the cash tied up in it.

I was talking it over with a buddy at work as his daughter wants one.  They get lousy gas mileage, ride poorly, can't go very fast and are not cheap.  Other than that, they're freaking awesome!

They certainly make most of the "worst new cars" lists I see.  The only Jeep I owned I bought new, and had it less than two years (wife got pregnant, Jeep was main car and baby seat didn't fit in the back), so I never experienced any issues.  I really would like to get another for myself when my 14 year old needs a car and hand mine down to him.  However, I feel like getting a used one is like playing roulette.

Has brand new professionally installed 4.0L engine and about $10k in top end modifications to it.... kinda ridiculous to sell at 14k but that's what the market will dictate
I thought Jeep's held their value like crazy?  Looking online I'm shocked at what is available at that price range.

They do. I paid $15k in 2006. I'm selling it for $14k now. Granted, it's beefed up a LOT of you're never going to see much out of your investment in modifications usually 30-40% is the rule.

I ordered those bar/doors and they looked great. The only problem was the passenger side didn't latch well at all and I just couldn't get it right. I took them off and they are now in my garage because I'm too lazy to send them back.

They really don't add much safety at all. It's pretty much more a mental thing than anything. I just cruise around with the doors off and a  small mesh top over my head. I can't see every putting the doors back on; it's way too fun driving without them.

Ah, gotcha.  Ya, I'd say that there is a small range of prices based primarily on a small number of factors (age, model, miles).  Specific details beyond that don't seem to matter too much.

It's a jeep thing.  You wouldn't understand.

Catchy phrase, but true.  For 95% of the population, they are impractical and not a good choice.  I sure hope it stays that way too.  They're getting way too popular as it is.  Me, though?  Ha.  Everything else is just a car.

My lease is coming up on the Wrangler Unlimited - considering buying a used (likely Sahara, '13-15) here on Long Island.

Any rec's on looking for a used jeep? Due to tax reasons may need to just lease again, but these things lease like #### so I'd rather buy used if possible.

The biggest thing is to stay 2012 or newer to get the better engine. Outside of that, they hold their value really well, so even the used ones are pricey compared to other vehicles of a similar model year.

also her tatoo sort of looks like she was run over by a jeep with aggresive treads on the tires which means it was probably awesome at rock crawls and had about twelve kc lights which everyone knows are totally awesome take that to the bank bromigos

You ever end up selling this thing?
Havent put it up for sale yet, naw.  Shop is finishing up the engine swap (installing new motor mount bushings) and going through the suspension and such to make sure everything's hunky dory. Hoping to have it back in a week or two.

You guys are still driving Jeep wranglers?  It's time to grow up and look at Chrysler Pacificas.  I'm not sure if you can get them in matte black though.

I'm looking for soft top for our 2016 Unlimited Sahara with a hard top.

I figured I'd come to the experts, because I'm hearing a lot of different things.  I've heard that because of the rear windows there is not a soft top that will fit an Unlimited built for a hard top (which doesn't sound right to me).  I've also found some soft tops, but they apparently do not fit the Sahara model.

Can anyone set the record straight and perhaps suggest a good soft top?

Thanks guys.
