The Official Kicker (K) Thread (6 Viewers)

Prater and Crosby have been missing way too many kicks lately for my taste. I think they are coasting on their names at this point
Crosby for sure--he has been terrible. Prater had a lousy week (2 weeks ago, where he STILL got 7 points) but rebounded once Kyler returned and the offense got back on track. At this point, I am planning for the playoffs. With that in mind, I dropped Zeurlein for Prater last night. Zeurlein has been OK but certainly not amazing. He has potential bad weather games this week in Washington and then week 15 at the Giants. Prater has no potential weather issues, as he is home this week against the Rams, at Detroit in week 15 (dome), home against the Colts in week 16, and should week 17 mean something, at Dallas. All of those games figure to be reasonably high scoring.

Am I crazy for considering dropping Tucker? Lamar is my QB so the QB/K combo worries me. That and Baltimore’s recent struggles. All 4 of Baltimore’s remaining games are outdoor in cold weather cities.

Prater from AZ and Hopkins from LAC are both available. Solid offenses and remaining games are all indoors.

That's tough. I just dropped Zuerlein for Prater but I don't think I could drop Tucker. As crazy as it sounds (and of course only if you have a playoff spot sewn up), but maybe consider carrying a second "bad weather" kicker. Just in case.

Raiders signed K Daniel Carlson to a four-year, $18.4 million extension through 2025.

Carlson is playing 2021 on the restricted free agent tender. After flaming out with the Vikings, Carlson has found a long-term home with Vegas. He’s 27-of-30 (90%) on field goals this season and has missed just two of his 25 extra points. At $4.6 million per year, Carlson is the league’s third-highest paid kicker.

WHY WAS THE K THREAD ON PAGE 5? ARE WE NOT STARTING KICKERS IN THE PLAYOFFS?

(well actually....quite a few of you are in leagues with no K...and I am jealous af)

I also posted his DST rankings in that thread, and he does OK with those. But for Kicker rankings, this guy is among the best (if not THE best) several years running.

Was #1 analyst for K projections Weeks 11-13 (or he would have been if he wasn't so flicking obscure.) He ALWAYS posts his accuracy rankings, and just to make it harder for himself, he is only comparing his rankings to the best of the best.

I posted links to Here's The Kicker at the beginning of this season. Hopefully it's helped you crush your league in streaming Kickers bc he's having a great year (pretty much always good but each year he tweaks his model....this year has been scary good.)

I did not follow him as much as I have in the past. I did not do as well streaming Kickers as I have in the past.

Why do I repeat the same mistakes every year? I come on TSP and post solid advice, then don't take my own advice when I set my lineup . lol

That long-distance category looks odd to me. Must be counting 40+ as long? Elliott has only tried 3 50+ and doesn't seem to be much of a long-range kicker, and there are several guys about even with Folk and Gay in 50+ attempts this year.

Chiefs placed K Harrison Butker on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Butker tested positive for COVID. If he's vaccinated, the new rules give him a better chance at returning for Week 16. The Chiefs currently have Elliott Fry on their practice squad. If Butker can't clear COVID protocols before Sunday, Fry should draw the start. Fry connected on his first and only career field goal attempt with the Falcons last year.

Panthers signed K Lirim Hajrullahu.

The Panthers signed Hajrullahu and he will presumably fill in as their starting kicker for the rest of the season with Zane Gonzalez on season-ending IR. Hajrullahu was signed to the Rams in 2020 after a successful stint in the CFL. He didn't win that kicker competition but saw game action for the Cowboys this year in relief of Greg Zuerlein.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Chiefs K Harrison Butker (COVID) is not vaccinated and will not play Week 16 against the Steelers.

Butker will have to isolate for 10 days dating back to Monday after testing positive. He could be cleared in time for the Week 17 date with the Bengals. In Butker's absence, Elliott Fry is expected to serve as the Chiefs' kicker this week.

Can only see the D spreadsheet...for me anyway.

Rolling with Zeurlein. Missed XP madenning, but should have opportunities against WASH. Offense seems just clunky enough these days to bog down in the redzone.

Good grief

not much on the wire so I chose Prater over Joseph bc the latter had like 4 missed PATs (-1 in our format)

so of course the Cardinals K misses his 2nd one all year

sitting on a big fat zero bc -1 made & +1 made

we gotta get rid of KICKERS from FF

Do I pick up Badgley IND @ Jax and avoid the cold/weather issues?

Cowboys ST coordinator John Fassel has faith Greg Zuerlein's struggles won't cost Dallas in postseason

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Greg Zuerlein's recent struggles have "absolutely" altered the team's game plan.

“He’s a sound kicker, experienced kicker, our guys are all sensitive about how to approach the game," Jones said. “If a better alternative was out there, we’d be using it. Everything is at stake.” Oof. Zuerlein made 82.9 percent of his field goals in the regular season, which is actually higher than his career conversion rate (he's made 16 of his past 18 attempts). He's also whiffed on six extra points this season, including one last week against the Eagles. Perhaps the team will be more aggressive on fourth downs in field goals range this postseason if they don't trust Zuerlein to come through in the clutch. Jerry's comments surely won't do much for the veteran's confidence.

Saints waived K Brent Maher.

Core muscle surgery and a subsequent setback in rehab kept Wil Lutz out for the entire season last year. This forced the Saints to work through multiple kicker before landing on Maher for their final eight games of the year. Maher put together the most accurate year of his career, connecting on 16-of-18 field goals. With Lutz expected to be healthy for the 2022 season, Maher's services were no longer needed. He has a good shot at landing a starting job on a new team for the upcoming season.

The Seahawks can create $4 million in cap space from releasing Jason Myers this offseason.

Myers posted career lows in 2021, converting 74% of field goals with three missed extra points and a 37% touchback rate. It should be an easy decision for Seattle to move on from a kicker that played at replacement level last season. The Seahawks could use the money saved from Myers toward re-signing free agents Quandre Diggs, D.J. Reed, and Duane Brown.

Panthers re-signed K Zane Gonzalez to a two-year deal.

Gonzalez was set to hit free agency, but the Panthers now have their kicker in place through 2023. Gonzalez joined the Panthers in Week 2 of the 2021 season, hitting 20-of-22 field goals before injuring his quad in Week 15 warmups. Gonzalez should be a reliable kicker in 2022 once again, but how often he actually gets to attempt field goals is in serious question, with the Panthers currently lacking a starting quarterback and reportedly listening to offers on Christian McCaffrey.

Cowboys released K Greg Zuerlein.

The Leg missed six extra points and was generally unreliable for the latter part of the season, prompting Jerry Jones to say that his struggles had altered the team's game plan. The Cowboys will save roughly $2.5 million against the cap with his release.

Mar 11, 2022, 4:31 PM ET

Rams extended an original-round tender to restricted free agent K Matt Gay.

Gay's tender is valued at $2.5 million. If another team matches that offer, they would also have to send a fifth-round pick to LA, as Gay was originally selected in the fifth round. Gay connected on all but two of his 34 field goal attempts last season. He only missed one of his 49 extra points. Kicking for an explosive LA offense, Gay will be a solid fantasy option in 2022.

Falcons re-signed K Younghoe Koo to a five-year, $24.25 million contract.

Koo is getting $11.5 million guaranteed. He was set to be a restricted free agent, but the Falcons are instead locking him up through his age-32 season. Koo is now the league's second-highest paid kicker at $4.85 million per year, trailing only Justin Tucker at $5 million. Koo bounced around the league a bit with the Chargers and Patriots before settling in with the Falcons in 2019. He's been dynamite in Atlanta, drilling 92.6% of his field goals, going 87-of-94 in three years, and 95.1% of his extra points in that span. He's also 13-of-14 on field goals of 50-plus yards. Koo deserves the pay day.

ESPN's Rob Demovsky believes Mason Crosby will return to the Packers in 2022.

Demovsky cited a source who said "there's no change in [Crosby's] status or his contract" after a 2021 season in which he made a meager 73 percent of his field goal tries. The team's faith in Crosby somehow never wavered even as he missed four of his 13 field goal attempts from between 30-39 yards. If Crosby, 37, can fix his short-range issues, he should be a serviceable fantasy producer in Aaron Rodgers' offense this year.

Patriots re-signed K Nick Folk to a two-year, $5 million contract.

The deal includes $2.19 million guaranteed, with another $500,000 available through incentives. Although he is headed into his age-38 season, Folk is still one of the league's very best kickers, converting 92.5 percent of his 67 field goal attempts over the past two years.

Vikings extended a right of first refusal tender to restricted free agent K Greg Joseph.

He'd make $2.433 million on the tender. Joseph was a top fantasy option in 2021 for a Vikings team that attempted the NFL's fourth-most (38) field goals. Joseph made 36 of his 40 extra point attempts and nailed seven of his nine kicks from more than 50 yards out. The Vikings seem to want to keep their first reliable kicker in some time. However, Joseph is a former UDFA, so the Vikings would get no compensation in return if they don't match an offer sheet.

Chargers re-signed K Dustin Hopkins to a three-year, $9 million contract.

Hopkins could make up to $12 million and will make $4.6 million guaranteed per Adam Caplan. Hopkins will be in every-week fantasy consideration with LA's high-powered offense. He hit 18-of-20 field goals and 30-of-32 extra points after joining the Chargers at midseason.

The all-important Jets kicker battle is on:

Jets signed K Greg Zuerlein.

Released from Dallas before the start of free agency, Zuerlein converted 83% of field goals and missed six extra points with the Cowboys last season. The 34-year-old's down year came after undergoing back surgery in the 2021 offseason. New York tendered Eddy Pineiro at $2.43 million as a restricted free agent earlier this month, but a healthy Zuerlein should be the favorite for the Jets' kicker job.

Jets signed K Eddy Pineiro to a one-year, $2.4 million contract.

The Jets extended a right of first refusal tender to Pineiro at the start of free agency. He hit all eight of his field goal tries with the Jets last year. They also added Greg Zuerlein to the mix two days ago. It looks like a kicking competition will take place in New York this summer. The outcome won't have any impact on fantasy drafts as neither kicker projects for usable numbers while under the thumb of New York's dreadful offense.

Faust said:
Browns release two kickers after drafting Cade York
Cleveland took K Cade York in the draft and released the competition basically gifting him the starter job.  Browns had worst FG completion percent over the last three years, so the rookie has a legit chance to keep the job.

With Desuan Watson the points 'should' improve, and the FG percentage 'also' improve.

Cade York 'could' be a sleeper.

Vikings signed Oklahoma K Gabe Brkic.

Brkic (6'3/201) was one of the Lou Groza Award finalists in 2021 as well as an All-Big 12 second-team selection. He held a field goal accuracy rate of 76.9% in both the 2020 and 2021 seasons, achieving 100% back in 2019 when he was successful on 17-of-17 attempts. He made every one of his extra-point attempts in 2019 and 2020, missing just one PAT in 2021 (57-of-58). One of the brightest moments of Brkic's career came when he tied an FBS single-game record with three field goal makes of at least 50 yards (51, 56, and 55) along with a 26-yard make in the season opener vs. Tulane. He will push Greg Joseph, who is due a non-guaranteed RFA tender amount of $2.433 million.

The Akron Beacon Journal's Nate Ulrich reports Browns rookie K Cade York has been impressive at team OTAs.

York was the only kicker selected in the 2022 NFL Draft (124th overall), and reportedly hit field goals of 60+ yards in the first OTA opened to local media. Safety John Johnson said of York, "It could be a 30-yard kick. He's going to hit it for 60. It flies through the uprights, accurate." If you're a fantasy football traditionalist, York could make for an interesting selection in fantasy drafts. Last season at LSU he converted 83.3% of his field goal attempts and was 5-of-7 on kicks of 50+ yards.

As of 12 June, here is the kicker status for every team, as I understand it to be.  Please correct if I am wrong, thank you.

ARI - Matt Prater
Consensus has him at K8 at the moment.  No other kicker names have surfaced in ARI as far as I know, but the below article, dated 26 Jan 2022, suggests he could be released to save cap space.
https://raisingzona.com/2022/01/26/matt-prater-remaining-arizona-cardinals-2022-surprising/
He hasn't been Prater-esque the last 2 seasons, missing 7 FG's each season.  The last time he missed 7 was his first full season back in 2008.  Fun fact - he holds the NFL record for most EP's in a season with 75, and he missed... none!

ATL - Younghoe Koo
I've seen him on multiple sites in the 9-15 range.  He signed a juicy contract in March and has no competition for the foreseeable future.  Sadly for fantasy, he plays for the Falcons.  Last year, he played the entire season, and was one of only 4 kickers with a FG accuracy of 93% or higher.  The other 3 were Carlson (K1), Gay (K3), and Tucker (K4).  Koo finished K17.  Doesn't matter how good you are as a kicker if the offense isn't moving the ball.

BAL - Justin Tucker
Remember that time Tucker finished outside the top 10?  Me neither, because it's never happened.  He is entering his 11th season, and is already considered by many to be the best kicker in NFL history.  He is the highest paid, the most accurate, and has the longest FG in history.  BAL doesn't even waste their time bringing in competition for him, and he will be off the board within the first 5 kickers, as he always is.

BUF - Tyler Bass
Entering year 3 of his rookie contract, Bass has finished K4 and K6 in his first 2 seasons.  I am sure the Bills are quite happy with their 2020 6th round draft pick, and he should be in store for another good year.  Just like the first 3 above, I haven't heard any other kicker names associated with BUF.  Fun fact - the only other kicker to start his career with back-to-back 50+ EP seasons is Fuad Reveiz, who played for the 1985 & 1986 Dolphins.

CAR - Zane Gonzalez
A career 80.5% kicker, he actually had his best season kicking for the hapless Panthers last year.  He only played 12 games, but he connected on 20 of 22 FG's (only 2 misses were from 50+) and made 22 of 23 EP's.  Sadly, he missed the last 4 games of 2021 when he suffered a quad injury during warmups vs BUF.  He should be fully healed for 2022, and the Panthers awarded his excellent 2021 with a 2 year deal.  No other kicker names are in the mix, but he does kick for CAR and should be left as waiver wire fodder.

CHI - Cairo Santos
Another kicker best left off your fantasy team, Cairo has struggled to keep his job his entire career.  He has been on 5 different teams in 8 years, and is not known as a strong-legged kicker (under 50% lifetime from 50+, with a long of 55).  FWIW, he has been a 90% FG kicker with the Bears over the last 2 years, but the volume just isn't going to be there.  With all that said, no other names are being tossed around.

CIN - Evan McPherson
Evan has been in the NFL for 1 season.  Do you know which kicker holds the NFL record for most 50-plus-yard field goals made in a single season in NFL history, regular season and postseason combined?  Evan points to himself and says, "this guy".  He is entering year 2, on an offensive juggernaut, and is already known as "Money Mac".  McPherson will be one of the first kickers off the board in every draft for 2022.  Let me know if the Bengals bring in anyone to compete with him, because I haven't heard a thing.

CLE - Cade York
With the 124th pick in the 4th round, Cade became the earliest kicker taken in the draft since Roberto Aguayo was chosen 59th overall in the 2nd round in 2016.  Let's hope Cade doesn't follow in his footsteps.  Chase McLaughlin was the CLE kicker last year, and finished 27th.  He was middle of the pack in EP attempts, but near the bottom in FG attempts.  He did himself no favors by converting only 15 of 21.  Given the current state of the Browns, Cade will not be my fantasy kicker for 2022.  I don't think CLE has brought anyone in to compete yet, have they?

DAL - Jonathan Garibay
Garibay signed with DAL on May 2 after going undrafted in April, and he’s been left without any competition at kicker.  The Cowboys surely aren't putting all their eggs in one basket, but they still have time to bring in a few during training camp.  This is a coveted fantasy position, as last year Zuerlein finished 7th in both FG and EP attempts.  Unfortunately, he missed 6 of each and finished K13.  I heard he changed his name to Greg Blewitt.  BTW, I ran across this guy while researching Garibay - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ove_Johansson

DEN - Brandon McManus
McManus has been the Broncos kicker since 2014.  He finished K10 in his first full year in 2015, and has been a fantasy tease ever since.  He did manage K11 in 2019, but the other 5 finishes were 17, 18, 19, 19, and 20.  The Mile High Stadium kicker finally connected from 60+ in week 16 of last season, hitting a 61-yarder.  He is a lifetime 81.9% kicker, and it would be nice to see this number rise.  I suspect the arrival of Russell Wilson will catapult his ADP.  No kicker competition listed.

DET - Riley Patterson
Patterson, a rookie last season, got his shot and made the best of it.  He converted 13 of 14 FG's (his only miss was a 55-yarder), and hit on all 16 of his EP's.  It's his job to lose, but he does have competition at the moment, in the form of Austin Seibert.  The Lions can save about $1M letting Seibert walk, so Patterson has to be considered the favorite at the moment.  Patterson would be an interesting fantasy option.  When he took over kicking duties for the last 7 weeks of 2021, he was tied for K7.  I think he is another K who will climb the ADP rankings as we get closer to kickoff.

I have to post now, otherwise I will lose everything I have typed, because I am at work.  I will continue later, stay tuned...

continuing on from above...

GB - Mason Crosby
How do you finish 2nd in EP attempts and 8th in FG attempts and finish as K14?  When you lead the league with 9 missed FG's.  Actually, Crosby has been quite a letdown in terms of fantasy since the start of the 2015 season.  His finishes are 9, 14, 14, 14, 16, 20, and 25.  He was a monster his first 8 seasons (1, 4, 4, 4, 5, 8, 11, 17).  His training camp competition this year is Dominik Eberle, but unless Mason completely blows, I see no way the Packers won't keep him as their starter.  He hasn't missed a game in his entire career (241 games), and he will surpass Favre in week 15 for most games ever played as a Packer.  He will also surpass Morten Anderson in week 8 for most consecutive games played by a kicker, and that's great PR.  Crosby currently has an undisclosed injury and Eberle is doing the training camp kicking, so stay tuned.
P.S.  Mason is the oldest looking 37-year old I have ever seen.  He makes "Santa Claus" Vinatieri look young.

HOU - Ka'imi Fairbairn
Fairbairn's 15 minutes of fame was the 2018 NFL season.  He led the league in FG's and FG attempts (37/42) and finished K1.  His other 4 seasons in the league (all with the Texans) have amounted to K14, K19, K20, and K29.  Last year, the league averages for FG% and EP% were 85.1 and 93.4.  Fairbairn's lifetime averages are 83.8 and 91.0.  No other kicker names have surfaced in Houston that I am aware of, but I prefer my fantasy kicker from a team with a strong offense, so I will not be drafting Ka'imi.

IND - Rodrigo Blankenship
Rodrigo came out of the gate strong, with a K5 finish as a rookie in 2020.  Things continued, and he was K8 after week 4 of 2021.  Then the wheels came off in the 2nd half of week 5.  Two missed FG's and one missed EP later, he suffered a hip injury and was replaced by Michael Badgley for the remainder of the year.  This year, Rodrigo is the frontrunner and his competition is Jake Verity.  Jake is a 2nd year player who spent his rookie season as Justin Tucker's backup.  Rodrigo does not have a strong leg, so I will be following this camp battle intently, and wouldn't be totally shocked if Verity emerges.

JAX - Ryan Santoso
An UDFA coming out of college in 2018, Santoso has been linked to DET (twice), TEN (twice), NYG, CAR, LAR (got himself a SB ring), and now JAX.  He had 2 tenures with Montreal of the CFL as well.  The only action he has seen is 4 games last year, and was promptly cut by DET after missing a game winning FG in OT.  At 6'5" and 258, Ryan is not your typical kicker.  He will be battling rookie UDFA Andrew Mevis.  Honestly, unless you're a Jaguars fan, does this kicker battle even matter?  In the last 15 years, only 1 guy has been a fantasy-worthy kicker in Jacksonville (Josh Lambo's K7 finish in 2019).  No one else finished in the top 12.

KC - Harrison Butker
Butker is 2nd only to Tucker in lifetime FG percentage, and has been very consistent in his yearly percentages (89, 89, 90, 91, and 93).  The last 2 years aren't as good as his first 3 though.  One look at the numbers for 2021 and you can see why.  He finished K15 as 20 other kickers had more FG attempts.  He would've finished even lower if not for his 49 EP attempts (behind only Succop, Bass, and Crosby).  2020 was quite similar, as he finished K11 and 18 others with more FG attempts.  Looks like Butker will be going off the board around K6 or K7, and here is the only competition I could find:  https://chiefswire.usatoday.com/2022/06/11/kansas-city-chiefs-justin-reid-emergency-kicker-practice-field-goal-jan-stenerud/

LV - Daniel Carlson
Carlson's career got off to a rocky start in 2018.  Kicking for the Vikings in only his 2nd game, he missed 3 FG's and was waived the next day.  Five weeks later, he was signed by the Raiders, and was their starter the last 10 weeks.  During that time, he was K10 with 16/17 FG's and 18/18 EP's.  His 94.1% FG accuracy set a new team record.  2019 was forgettable for Daniel, as he struggled, but the team stuck by him.  That decision paid off big time in 2020 and 2021 when he was K1 in back-to-back seasons.  Entering his 5th year, he is 5th all time in FG accuracy, and has no competition to speak of.  The only waiver wire he will be on is in leagues without kickers.

LAC - Dustin Hopkins
The Chargers are a kicker carousel.  10 different players have kicked over the last 5 years.  Dustin was brought over from WAS after Tristan Vizcaino missed 5 EP's in a 4-week stretch.  Once with LAC, Dustin was K5 from weeks 8 thru 18.  He is studly from short range, connecting on 96.3% lifetime under 40 yards.  The problem is his long range accuracy.  He is a mere 50% from 50+.  Enter long-legged rookie UDFA James McCourt.  As a Chargers nut, this is the kicker camp battle I am most interested in.  I plan on drafting whoever wins, as I see a top 10 finish from a great offensive team.

LAR - Matt Gay
Gay's rookie season in 2019 was with TB and he finished K6, despite missing 8 FG's and 5 EP's.  He ranked 24th in FG%, and only 47-year old Vinatieri missed more EP's.  You can't fault TB for releasing him prior to the 2020 season.  Gay was signed to LAR to replace injured Kai Forbath, and he hasn't looked back.  Since signing, his FG% with the Rams is 92, and his EP% is 98.5.  Footballguys lists UDFA Cameron Dicker on the kicker depth chart, but further research suggests he is in camp trying to become the new punter.  That would make sense, considering 2021 punter Johnny Hekker is now with the Panthers.  Gay will surely be drafted quickly when kickers start flying off the board.

MIA - Jason Sanders
Jason has owned the kicking job with the Dolphins since joining the league in 2018.  He has been great kicking EP's every year (hasn't missed more than 1 in a season), but he is night and day when it comes to FG accuracy from year to year.  In his 4 seasons, here are his percentages: 90, 77, 92, 74.  He is good from long range, and I haven't found any competition for him, but I can't see how MIA won't bring someone in after he went 23/31 (74.2%).  Overall, I am lower on him than most, but if he is alternating good and bad years, this year is supposed to be good.

MIN - Greg Joseph
Greg's 4-year NFL career has taken quite a few turns.  He has been connected to MIA, CLE, CAR, TEN, TB, MIN, and even the Seattle Dragons of the XFL.  He settled in MIN last year, and finished tied for K6 with Bass & Boswell.  The Vikings brought in undrafted rookie Gabe Brkic to compete, but have already waived him.  Currently, Greg is the only kicker on the team, so we'll see who comes out of the woodwork.  He has a strong leg, as evidenced by going 7 for 9 from 50+ last year.  I think he will be a value pick come draft day (assuming he still has the job).

NE - Nick Folk
Nick has been kicking in the NFL since 2007.  Amazingly, he found the fountain of youth with the Patriots, and has recorded his highest 2 FG percentage seasons of his career in 2020 and 2021.  At 37, he went 5 of 8 from 50+.  Prior to that he had never even made 4 in a season.  One thing that stood out to me was how similar his 2020 and 2021 seasons were, but how different the outcomes were.  In terms of FG%, he went 92.9 and 92.3.  In terms of EP%, he went 90.9 and 89.4.  His finishes were K1 and K18.  Kickers are at the mercy of the offense.  I know NE recently signed Tristan Vizcaino, but Folk would outkick him with both legs cut off.

Once again, it's time to post before logging off.  Keep us updated with any new info, thanx.

In CLE, it's York. Period.  Everyone else has been cut.  FWIW, he has looked as good as they could have hoped, and then some.  Good leg.  Good accuracy.  Good mental make-up.

The negatives are team and location.  The coach has no qualms about going for the first-down on fourth.  He's not "old school" when it comes to taking the FG.  The location -- on lake Erie -- creates wind problems.  Phil Dawson, whom most Clevelanders regard as the best ever to kick for the Browns, described it this way... There are a minimum of three wind patterns at any given time.  From field level to the the height of the crossbar is one zone.  From the crossbar to the top of the uprights is a second.  Above the uprights is a third.  The wind is often different in each.  Then the wind changes...

One more PK comment...  I have noticed that, except for super-long kicks, it all comes down to the holder.  If he puts the ball down on the spot he is pointing to pre-snap, the kick will be good.  If he doesn't, the kick will be "pushed" or "hooked" and the kicker will be blamed for the miss.  Keep an eye on this!

Good point. Since the punter is usually the holder, maybe check for any changes there. Adjusting to a new holder could trip up someone who was good last year.

"Laces out Dan"

Same.  In Best balls it's really important to draft kickers who's jobs are safe.  You don't want to get stuck holding someone who ends up getting cut.
I'm in a best ball league that about 10 years ago switched to Team Kicker along with Team Defense. Next man up is yours automatically.

here come a few more...

NO - Wil Lutz
Give yourself a pat on the back if you knew he began his NFL career as Justin Tucker's understudy.  A week after Ravens released him, he signed with the Saints.  He spent the next 5 seasons as the exclusive kicker, finishing as K5, K6, K4, K2, and K9.  Wil is currently listed as the the 8th most accurate FG kicker, at 86.585%.  He spent 2021 on IR, rehabbing from core muscle surgery, and should be ready for 2022.  Pushing him along at the moment is UDFA John Parker Romo, but make no mistake, this is Wil's job to lose.  With all the changes since 2020, Wil may not be returning to the kicker's paradise he once knew.  Wil averaged 52 EP's per year from 2016 thru 2020, but NO attempted only 38 last year.

NYG - Graham Gano
Graham has gotten better with age.  Since turning 30, he has made 103 of 111 FG's, for a rate of 92.8%.  Also, he has hit from 63 yards, and has made 71.4% from beyond 50.  Just think, if he joined the league in 2017, he would be listed as the most accurate kicker in history instead of Tucker.  Sadly for Gano, the volume just isn't there in New York for him to be a fantasy star.  As the full timer the last 2 seasons, he has finished K15 and K20.  He has no competition that I know of, so maybe he's a bye week filler who can make a few long ones when your stud is off.

NYJ - Greg Zuerlein
Greg's numbers are misleading.  At first glance, you look at his lifetime FG percentage and see 82.2%.  You tell yourself, "Greg the Leg" has been overhyped all these years.  Then you look closer.  You will see he is 161 of 170 from inside 40 (94.7%), but keep digging.  Greg has attempted 69 kicks of 50+ in his 321 lifetime attempts.  That's 21.5%.  Of all 32 current projected starters, only 5 are over 20%.  If I have to choose between him and Eddy Pineiro, I choose Greg.  But I also read they are both sucking, and the Jets may want to bring in a 3rd guy if neither Greg nor Eddy will edge the other out.

PHI - Jake Elliott
Jake has had a stranglehold on the Eagles kicking position for the last 5 years.  He has surprising leg strength for his size (5'9" and 167), with a long of 61 and a respectable 60.9% from 50+.  He finally had a good fantasy season in 2021, finishing tied with Bass for K7.  He has the job all to himself, and could benefit greatly if Hurts and Company have a good year.  If I had to pick a dark horse kicker to crack the top 3, I think Jake from State Farm would be my guy.

PIT - Chris Boswell
Chris has spent his entire career with the Steelers.  I mention that because, as @daveR said, stadium's matter, and Heinz Field is famous for being one of the toughest to kick in.  That said, he ranks 4th all time in FG accuracy at 88.3%.  He doesn't attempt alot of 50-yarders, but when he does, he's on.  He is 17 of 21 from long range (80.9%), and made 8 of 9 in 2021.  Nick Sciba has little chance of beating out Boswell, in my opinion.  Now let's see if PIT can move the ball down the field.

I  will finish them off on my next post, sorry.
