I wouldn't dare. I did say his role, not to be him. Especially on the deep ball.Janis can't carry Jordy's jock. In no way, shape, or form in the same neighborhood regarding talent. There's a lot more to playing a position than measureables.I don't mean this because of physical appearance but Janis really does seem to fit the bill for Nelson's role. Am I wrong in that? I say get him in there.
Randall Cobb caught 8-of-12 targets for 81 yards in the Packers' Week 14 win over the Cowboys, adding three carries for nine yards.
With coach Mike McCarthy calling the plays for the first time since last season's NFC Championship Game, Cobb had his best performance since Week 9, and his most catches since Week 2. He frequently lined up in the backfield. Although it still wasn't a banner day for the Packers' passing attack, everything just seemed more in sync. There was occasionally actually space for Aaron Rodgers' receivers. Cobb will be back to WR2 status against the Raiders' burnable pass defense in Week 15.

Let's hope. It was getting really ugly for awhile.Back in our good graces now that McCarthy is calling the plays? 12 targets was nice and he looked like Cobb of last year.
Sitting him for next two weeks (fantasy football gods willing) in favor of John Brown. Not enough time left in the season to repair my trust in Cobb and the Pack. How are folks feeling this week getting Cobb in their line up?
Randall Cobb - WR - Packers
Mike Jurecki of FOX Sports 910 in Arizona believes Patrick Peterson will shadow Randall Cobb on Sunday.
Finally living up to his reputation -- he's been severely overrated in recent years -- Peterson has been a true shutdown corner in his age-25 campaign, routinely matching up with No. 1 wideouts and taking them away. Peterson has rarely covered the slot, but he has shadowed smaller receivers who move around a lot like Brandin Cooks, Antonio Brown, and Travis Benjamin. The Cardinals now need Peterson to be more versatile after losing slot CB Tyrann Mathieu. James Jones' matchup would be upgraded significantly if Peterson travels with Cobb.

Yes. Benched him for Ginn.Does anyone else see the Peterson shadow as a game changer for Cobb this week?
Randall Cobb admitted he struggled in 2015.
"I didn't perform at the capacity that I know I can perform at," Cobb said. "I'm the only one who can change that." Without Jordy Nelson (ACL), Cobb struggled under the pressure of the No. 1 role. His counting stats were well below the career highs he set the year before, and his efficiency nosedived. The good news is Nelson should be fully healthy well before Week 1, and the offense looks poised to bounce back. Despite the terrible year, Cobb is a value in the fourth round.

I think with Lacy rounding back into form and Jordy being Jordy of old-- it will open up the middle of the field for RC to do his thing. He's going to have to make the most of his targets though cause its going to be closer to 6-8 than 12-14 most weeks I imagine.Lets not turn this awesome post to terrible criticism..
Ive owned Cobb since the rookie draft.. (We play return points too) Ive seen some awesome games
Now I know that some of us read/believed Cobb played last Season with a shoulder issue.. I also know some of us have seen Cobb almost disappear too
Last week on my bn, the man had one catch.. I seriously want to cut him. But I know draft stock etc
Can you guys trading/acquiring Cobb explain whats your fascination? Do you think the rest of the Season is Cobb day?
He has scored in single digits in PPR in 5 of his last 6 games dating back to last year, the one outlier week being when he scored 12.8 points. I'd say his floor is about 6 points with a ceiling of 18 or so. Can he possibly break loose for 6/60/TD? We can hope so, right?Cobb is what he is. A wr3/4. Doesn't have the consistency to be a wr1/2 but will put up enough points over a season to be in the top 30.
If he is your bye/injury fill in, you can't do much better. If he is a starter, you just have to hope he has a good game when your supporting cast has an off week. And hope your supporting cast does well on cobb's bad weeks.
I will say he has a pretty safe floor of about 10ppg. I like to mix my lineup with a couple safe guys then some high upside guys. He does the trick for me.
I guess I'm just overly patient. Or in denial. I think that offense can get back to its 2014 form. They'll need to if their defense keeps getting lit up.He has scored in single digits in PPR in 5 of his last 6 games dating back to last year, the one outlier week being when he scored 12.8 points. I am not so sure about Cobb. I think Adams is going to continue to eat in to what used to be Cobb targets.
Randall Cobb caught 9-of-11 targets for 108 yards in the Packers' Week 5 win over the Giants.
It's a nice bounce back after Cobb was held to three catches last week. The Packers were forced to check down most of the night, leaving Cobb and Davante Adams to finish with more yards than Jordy Nelson. Cobb took a big hit on the final play of the game, but he was cleared of a concussion. He will still face some tests Monday morning. Cobb is on pace for 85 catches and 960 yards, but has yet to score a touchdown. He's a WR3 for Week 6 against Dallas.
Oct 10 - 12:45 AM
Randall Cobb corralled 11-of-15 passes for 95 yards and a touchdown while adding five carries for 21 yards Thursday in the Packers' Week 7 win over the Bears.
Cobb nearly scored a touchdown on the Packers’ opening drive but couldn’t quite hold on. He wasted another touchdown opportunity in the second quarter, beating Cre’Veon LeBlanc in coverage but failing to keep his feet in bounds. The third time was the charm for Cobb, who again foiled LeBlanc for a two-yard score to seal the game midway through the fourth quarter. Cobb started slowly this year but has come on strong with 256 yards and three touchdowns over his last three games. He’ll be a WR2 against the Falcons in Week 8.

thanks for the data!! this confirms what I was suspecting/expecting with the RB situation. plus, it's nice to see that Cobb is also getting RZ looks as a RB eventhough he failed to convert vs. the bears. his per game floor is such where he's a no-brain start every week with the added benefit of a high ceiling given the RZ opportunities.Cobb probably isn't getting enough love given what the situation in GB looks to be moving forward. Rodgers acknowledged after the game last night that although he may not be attempting 56 passes a game, what we saw will indeed be the game plan moving forward. GB will continue to lean on the underneath passing game in an attempt to mitigate the fact that they don't really have a RB at the moment. Cobb is also finally seeing a lot of what he saw in 2014, RZ looks. Regardless of format, at least in the short-mid term, he's going to be unsittable.
Is there anyone worth picking up? I mean anyone else you would start or hold from a defensive stand point? So is he droppable at this point? There's almost no chance I would use him in my 14-team, 0.5 PPR league (WRs are Hilton, Tyrell, Sanders, Watkins) and I could use a second defense, but I still have that fear that he could get picked up and played against me. Or would that be a good thing?
Exactly. He's not an obvious hold/drop, depends on other factors. Is there anyone worth picking up? I mean anyone else you would start or hold from a defensive stand point?
No harm in holding onto him, unless there's a player that will better serve you (offensively or defensively)
Haha, sad that there was time we thought he was unsittable. The first set of columns is snap percentage, the second is utilization, the third is the average utilization over the past 3 weeks and the forth is RZ work.

Since coming out of the bye Cobb has been utilized an insane 43 times and has turned that into a 27/256/2 receiving and a 6/21/0 rushing stat line.

If you can wait until Saturday to drop him, that'd be fine. Although GB D might be a hot WW claim for streamers. Tough choice. Although I don't see Cobb turning his season around this week. It was interesting my opponent started Cobb and had Adams on the bench. Why on earth you'd make that move is beyond me. It didn't matter as I had Bell. But still. There's a reason I guess that he limped into the playoffs.Exactly. He's not an obvious hold/drop, depends on other factors.
In my case, it would be to pick up GB D. But I just looked at the rosters of the remaining teams and at least one of them would definitely pick Cobb up, and probably start him against me. For example, my opponent for next week has Julio and was forced to start JJ Nelson yesterday (which worked out, but still).
The fact is, Cobb has been inconsistent over the past few weeks, but he hasn't been all that bad. Rodgers still looks for him in the RZ, and he's got a good match-up against Chicago. I won't be starting him, but I think it is worth playing keep-away from the other owners.
Insane right. During that stretch where he averaged 20ppg he did help me get to where I am, which was two first round byes but I dropped him in both leagues leading up to last weeks slate of games for DSTs. I was just staring at his targets/production and comparing them to Jermaine Gresham's, noticed they were indistinguishable and quickly realized Cobb was the most expendable player on my teams. He was also grabbed in both leagues, name value is a hell of a thing.Haha, sad that there was time we thought he was unsittable.
Will be interesting to see if this is the case or if he is finally healthy againBig game yesterday and virtually unusable during the regular season, outside of weeks 5-7. He's a very difficult player to rely on to win fantasy games, especially considering the price tag paid to acquire him (draft position / auction price tag). Kind of looking like that 2014 output was a contract year mirage and not his true value as a fantasy asset. I will be moving him at the first opportunity in the only league I own him.
In the mid to late rounds, I often draft guys that I think could propel my team into the postseason. I'm not looking for safe picks (that's my goal for earlier rounds) but the guy with the highest ceiling. This year Cobb is a fine example. Here is a scenario: Cobb stays healthy enough to capitalize on an opportunity in the running game (if you notice, he accumulated some carries his first few years) because Ty is not the bell cow answer and/or Jordy gets banged up and Cobb gets more opportunity there. He's a later round pick who could re-emerge as a catalyst to the title. The steady-Eddie you could have drafted in the 9th probably doesn't have the potential upside of Cobb. I'm targeting him this year.So I stumbled on Cobb in the ninth round of a redraft yesterday due to drafting QB and te way earlier than I anticipated. will probably have to start him as a wr3. Any chance he bounces back? I know he's been MIA for like 2 years......hasn't he been hurt?
he's finally healthyHe was targeted a lot. Looked healthy and quick.
Well, they have a lot of mouths to feed. So it certainly was partially due to the game plan. Davante Adams didn't look great today -- that helps Cobb get more targets IMO.The 13 targets were huge. Just hope it was a sign of things if come and not just a function of game scheming.
Randall Cobb caught 9-of-13 targets for 85 yards in the Packers' Week 1 win over the Seahawks.
The yards would have been Cobb's third most of 2016, while the catches and targets both would have been the second most. This, against one of the league's best pass defenses. The Seahawks did lose Jeremy Lane to ejection early, but Cobb appeared refreshed on his disastrous 2016. He's probably the healthiest he's been in a while. Fighting for targets with Davante Adams and Martellus Bennett behind Jordy Nelson, Cobb will surely be inconsistent, but has WR3 appeal for Week 2 against the Falcons.
