The Return of the Desert Island Jukebox Draft - Drop in a quarter (1 Viewer)

3.Mulligan

Throwing back The Roots Seed 2.0 and taking an unheralded song from 2001

Bargain Music (Feat. I-Man) - Long Beach Millenium

2001

another group I was way into back in the day. I like this one better so I'm going to send back the more popular song and let this one sit with the other reggaeish stuff on the mix.

Lyrics posting question: what's the line irt to potential spotlighting?

Only lyrics from already selected or obviously not to be selected?

I had a shot of Grey Goose and may spread my wings...

Yesterday was Thursday, Thursday
Today it is Friday, Friday (partyin')
We-we-we so excited
We so excited
We gonna have a ball today

seems like everyone is forgetting the bolded ampersand at the end rule per @Binky The Doormat

I haven't posted any lyrics from anything selected.  It's a free for all!

People gathered here tonight,
I want you to listen to me!
To your left and to your right,
You've got some pretty soily company.

Reader, writer, farmer, priest,
Breed controler, born deceased.
Indian, lawyer, doctor, dog,
And a plumber with a fattened hog.

I really liked that Roots song. So far it was thw fav of songs I never heard before.

They say that life's a carousel

spinning fast , you've got to ride it well

the world is full of kings and queens

who blind your eyes and steal your dreams

I was originally going to do an all country jukebox, and then I decided not to, because I don't think it would be listened to.  Then again, the one I've done now might not. .  Anyway, I do not consider this song country. It has a groovy steady beat, and makes me sway away to the Carolina stars.

Round 50

California Stars - Billy Bragg & Wilco (1998)

They hang like grapes on vines that shine
And warm the lovers glass like friendly wine
So, I'd give this world just to dream a dream with you
On our bed of California stars

Simey's Groovebox

One of my favorites, and a song on put on the mix for the last draft.  :)

There's a place where lovers go
To cry their troubles away
And they call it lonesome town
Where the broken hearts stay (lonesome town)
You can buy a dream or two
To last you all through the years
And the only price you pay
Is a heartful of tears (full of tears)

It is you, oh yeah
It is you, oh yeah

I said a pressure drop,
Oh pressure, oh yeah
Pressure's gonna drop on you
I said pressure drop
Oh pressure, oh yeah
Pressure's gonna drop on you

@Eephus thanks for putting this together

Where is Binky???

They can't take it from me, if they try
I lived through those early days
So many times I had to change the pain to laughter
Just to keep from getting crazed

Dressed in black from head to toe
Two guitars across our backs
We would walk the city roads
Seeking someone who would listen to the music
That we were writing down at home

Binky Sighting

Who has two thumbs and a bag of Ore-Ida Tater Tots?
I had tater tots at lunch!  First time in many months.  Perfect with some hot sauce.

Now let me take you to the movies Magg
So I can hold your hand
Oh, it ain't that I don't like your house
It's just that doggone man

And that double barrel behind the door
It waits for Carl I know
Oh, climb upon ol' Becky's back
And let's ride to the picture show

I had a boyfriend once who preferred the plain.  He's in prison now for a triple murder.
That last part is not true, as far as I know.  But he did prefer the plain, which is bad enough.

Hey, everybody out there,
You know what it's like,
When you haven't got a life,
when you haven't got a life,
Hey, do you want to make a difference?
Well stand in the line,
If you haven't got the time,
I can give you some of mine,

Mulligan already?

No, I like Amen by Meek Mill which neatly wraps up my Amen, Brother post but there's been no wrap up for.

Mulligan

Round 48 will be another sampling classic instead of another instrumental that was re-recorded for Spotify. Going with

Funky Drummer - James Brown

Who i Red Hot Tamales and Ocram both? Aliases are flying. Seems the mods did a clean up on aisle 13 or something.

Don't joke about people dying.  it's just not funny.  Apparently.  They are both friends, not foes.

I got house pets, Lear jets
Tryin' to learn about basinettes
Oh Miss Piggy dance with me
Let me take you to the sea

Dreamsicle, big dill pickle
High school honeys sure were fickle
I'll be damned, country ham
Takes me back to Alabam'

Were you his Defense?
Yes, if I tried to defend a criminal case, or any case for that matter, they would certainly end up in prison.

Sitting in the stand of the sports arena
Waiting for the show to begin
Red lights, green lights, strawberry wine,
A good friend of mine, follows the stars,
Venus and mars are alright tonight

What's that man holding in his hand?
He looks a lot like a guy I knew way back when
Its silly willy with philly band
Could be ... Oo-ee ...

What's that man movin' cross the stage?
It looks a lot like the one used by Jimmy Page
Its like a relic from a different age
Could be ...Oo-ee ...
