Well with Brady and Harrell both cut they save a little room. Maybe they can still get one of Jones or Jenkins.
I'd love to see Cullen back.
Why would we want Cullen back?? He is going for a big payday and more than likely wont bring back the value. He is aging and injury prone, so it is time to move on. Packer greem and gold glasses need to be taken off when looking at Jenkins. This reminds me a couple years ago when every one was screaming for Corey Williams to stay and how did that work out? He went to Clevand never lived up to his contract, than rebounded last year with the Lions a little last year.

Look at how the defense played without Jenkins and with him. He is darn good.As for Williams...he was not a fit in that 3-4...did look much better in the 4-3 last year. Jenkins >>>>>>>>>>>> Corey WilliamsThe other issues is there is some concern about Neal's shoulder. Pickett is getting older and who knows how long they can keep Green's weight in check.

Packers released ILB Brandon Chillar.Chillar severely pulled his hamstring during personal workouts during the lockout and was also coming off shoulder surgery. He wasn't going to pass his physical and may have been hampered by injuries all season.
Chillar out. Tough love here since it sounds like he may have badly pulled his hammy while preparing for the season. Reminded that it's a business.

Yeah that's tough. I like his coverage ability too. Sounds like he may miss the season. As for Jenkins, he's able to generate a pass rush from the DE spot in the 3-4. If you can't see why that is critical, I got nothing for you.

Jones is back in the fold

Green Bay -- The Green Bay Packers have agreed to terms on a three-year deal with wide receiver James Jones, a source told the Journal Sentinel.

Terms of the deal were unavailable.

According to the source, QB Aaron Rodgers and WR Donald Driver went to bat for Jones with Packers management and might have had some influence in the Packers stepping up with a good offer. It's true that Jones' options were drying up after the Minnesota Vikings signed WR Michael Jenkins and the New York Jets signed Plaxico Burruss.

But Jones could have stayed out on the market and waited until some team had an injury and reaped a decent reward. Instead, he and the Packers came to terms on a deal this morning that will reunite him with his Super Bowl teammates.

Glad he's back. They have the deepest receiving corps in the NFL. I'm excited to see Cobb play. He's got some tremendous veteran leadership to help him develop.

I need to see the $$$ involved. Green Bay better have gotten a very big hometown discount. I felt both Jenkins and Jones should be allowed to walk for various reasons, but if I had to choose, Jenkins should be the one coming back.

Jones' drops were maddening.

Jenkins was worth more to the Packers and to other teams. But Jones was more wanted by the team. With Driver being about done, Nelson a free agent next year...it was good to keep him.Yes, his drops were maddening..but I believe Jennings and Driver both had more than Jones did.

DJ Williams has been getting rave reviews fior his hands and speed. Any chance they use Finley out wide with Williams.

Geez

Jennings

Jones

Driver

Nelson

Finley

Cobb

DJ Williams

Grant

Alex Green

The only winners may be Rodgers and fans.

So, how do people envision the pecking order at the running back and receiver positions?

-I feel it's clear that Grant gets the bulk of the work at the beginning of the season. Starks will likely see increasing reps throughout the season, and possibly overtake Grant if he can improve his pass blocking. Even then, I can't imagine either back averaging more than 15 carries per game.

-It's clear that Jennings and Finley are the likely primary receiving targets for Rodgers. After that, it's a mire between Driver, Jones, and Nelson. I'd say that Jones sees the most targets of those three, with Driver and Nelson seeing the bulk of targets under 10 yards and Jones getting targets longer than 10 yards.

Agree/Disagree?

Some food for thought:Green Bay -- All it takes is one look. James Starks came to Green Bay a new player this season. For one, he's finally healthy. Injuries have dogged the running back since his junior year at the University at Buffalo. And two, he's bigger. Following a strict diet, Starks added eight pounds this offseason. He's up to 225.Considering Starks is already taller than his peers at 6-foot-2, adding bulk was a good idea. Now, he hopes it helps him in the battle for carries with Ryan Grant."I'm just going to go out there and play," Starks said. "I'm sure coaches will put me in a great situation to perform. If I do what I'm supposed, everything will work out for itself."Once he was finally healthy and in the lineup, the rookie had a postseason-high 315 yards a year ago. Green Bay's lackluster rushing game received an antibiotic when it mattered most. Heading into year two, Starks didn't want to weather another nagging hamstring injury. So this offseason, he visited a nutritionist. After the consultation, he got onto a gluten-free diet. No more regular protein shakes for this guy. In the past, the Niagara Falls, N.Y., native thought that carbohydrates were paramount. Not anymore."My body didn't react to it the right way," Starks said. "That played a big part in the healing process taking so long. As soon as I got on the diet, I started picking up weight and feeling a lot stronger."New and improved, Starks has had a strong camp so far. He has been decisive, all while playing with a lower center of gravity. To avoid injury, he knows that's key. And whereas last year was about learning plays and getting acclimated, Starks says he's taking more a take-charge approach this summer.Case in point, Thursday night. During red zone work, Starks violently barreled over safety Anthony Bratton.Grant remains the No. 1 back right now. Back from his season-ending ankle injury, he's been working with the first team and playing well himself. But as all players at this position know, things can change on a dime during the course of the season.Mike McCarthy prefers the hot hand. Sorry fantasy football junkies."We have a lot of backs," Starks said. "So if somebody's not doing what they're supposed to, I'm sure (McCarthy) will be able to count on any one of us. All of us are like brothers. We stick up for each other. If one's slacking, we try to pick that person up."Word out of camp is that the Packers LOVE Starks' hands in the passing game. As for now, it is quite muddy

nice link. bother giving credit to the source?

I believe our inter-squad game is on NFLN tonight at 8PM if anyone is interested, that won't be AT the game. I am hoping to see a little of Cob and DJ Williams as I have heard they have both looked awesome thus far.

Jordy Nelson dropped more balls than James Jones last year.

Not sure where he would fit in on the Packers. I think the best he can hope for is practice squad or to be signed by another team.

Agreed...great story though.Im sure they would like to put him on the PS...not sure if he makes it there if he continues to do things the way its being reported.

I took my son to training camp on Friday and family night on Saturday and we had a great time, despite the rain out. The locals are blaming the storm on the curse of Brett Favre, as most of them well remember the storms on that fateful night in 2008 when he flew back to Green Bay during the Family Night festivities and disrupted McCarthy's training camp until he got his way. Family night is a great event and I would recommend it to anyone looking to bring their young kids to experience Lambeau Field and Green Bay. My son is 6 and I think it'll be at least a few years before I take him to a real game up there, so Family Night (which is an all day event) is really perfect for him and I really enjoyed myself as well. I hadn't been to a training camp for at least 10 years, so it was cool to see a practice at the Ray Nitschke fields - its really a pretty cool experience, in some ways worse but for the most part better than the fan experience at the old fields on the other side of the Hutson center.

I thought Rodgers and the receivers looked really good - did not see Jennings run at all, but DD, Jones, Nelson and Cobb all looked good. Grant looked lean and hungry, and Starks looked good as well - I expect RBBC there, probably with a bit of Kuhn and Green mixed in. I was focusing on the OL, as usual, and can confirm that Sherrod is getting a long look at LG with the first team. He looks like a tackle to me, and I'm a bit skeptical of starting him out at LG, but what the hell do I know? As far as I could tell he fit right in - never got beat by a pass rusher when I was watching him and had some really nice blocks on inside/outside running plays - looked a bit tall for a guard, but very mobile and effective. I know he's very smart, but am waiting to see some of the nasty I'd like to have in a guard. As much as I respect Colledge for starting all those games since the day he was drafted, I won't miss him a bit - have always scratched my head a bit wondering how he can still collect a paycheck as an NFL lineman, much less find his way to a starting role on a superbowl team. I was looking for Nick McDonald and TJ Lang, but didn't see much of either. On Saturday, Clifton started the scrimmage at LT but only played about 4 or 5 plays. I believe it was then Marshall Newhouse who came in, but couldn't confirm that before the rain started and they cleared the stadium. As for the defense, I don't have a ton to report. Most all the guys were out there on Friday night, but they were mostly down on the other field away from where we were sitting. The clearest memory I have on the defensive side is watching Kevin Greene interacting with his LB's - its really a treat watching him working out there.

Mike Neal has been fully cleared, they were talking this might not happen till October. Great news for the D line, because Neal will be counted on to help replace Cullen Jenkins.

WRs are pretty much a lock with Jennings.Driver, Jones, Nelson, and Cobb. They have some other talent from the college FAs but dont see them sticking maybe one of them gets a practice squad spot.Swain maybe traded late for a conditional pick.

Quinn Johnson out of shape is not a good sign. He has never produced on specail teams and Kuhn will be the FB this year.

Packers on the way to the white house now...anyone interested I think WLUK Fox 11 is supposed to be streaming it live in a little bit.

Cheesehead TV also streaming today I think.

Good news is that in some of the pictures I saw Mark Tauscher. Good for them to bring him along too. Just still wish they would have made it happen for Jenkins, Colledge, Barnett...

I hear that Gov. Scott Walker is still whining that no team should be publicly owned and Union Members should never be allowed into The White House.

Please keep the political crap...especially crap that is completely untrue...keep it out of this thread.

Scott Walker is just what WI needs so people stop getting hands out and get what they work for.

Jenkins will be over paid in the end like Williams. When Jenkins played is the correct thing to say, his injuries are starting to mount like Barnett's.Neal will be on outside and talk of Raji being moved out there also to add to the rush. Picket and Green will be rotated by Capers and Trgo so they are fresh.ROLB should be adding pressure to the QB more as the guys develop.

Jenkins can be cut after the 1st year and only pocket 4 million. For that money I think Jenkins would have been worth it for another year. Repeating what has already been said, but late in the year the Defense really picked up when Jenkins was healthy. He'll be missed...

Reminds me of the year after our last Super Bowl victory, when Ron Wolf let Sean Jones walk away from the team. That was a huge mistake that hurt us big time.....Jones was a locker room veteran leader. Hopefully the loss of Jenkins won't have a similar outcome.

I agree that it would have been nice to include Jenkins, Colledge, Barnett, etc. but it is difficult when they are on other teams. Blame the lockout and not the Packers. It is nice to see them include Tauscher and the others that are not on other teams.Desmond Bishop could not visit the White House as he forgot his I.D. on the airplane. He tweeted that it will give him motivation to visit next year.

Big ol Doh! on Bishop's part. Got to suck. And I agree, figuring it out for guys on other teams would have been tough.I think not as bad on Jenkins Lee and Colledge as they played their games on Thursday...how hard would it have been to get them a flight into Dulles to meet up with everyone else?Barnett would have been tougher as they were on their way to Chicago yesterday for their game today.

Handouts and collective bargaining are two totally different animals. Now back to our regularly scheduled thread.

The Mustache Interview

Awesome

Ted made some tough cuts but got back (to the Practice Squad) most of the guys I thought we would want to keep (Gurley, West, Harrell) and Smithson to the IR.

Just interesting only keeping 8 OL.

5 TEs...but only one FB this year instead of 3.

A lot of LBs and CBs.
