The Top 300 Greatest TV Shows of All Time: FBG Consensus: 50 Lists received. 2: Seinfeld 1: Breaking Bad (10 Viewers)

Enjoyed 70’s show but somewhat distracting to watch now given the controversy with the actors.

ETA: and I normally don’t say that as there’s lots of a-holes in television but this one is kind of overt
Particularly when you have someone convicted of rape in real-life in a show with a lot of sex jokes.
I'm guessing you didn't vote for anything with Bill Cosby in it?

I think I would have still voted for 70’s show if I thought that highly of it. Don’t want to spotlight but I wouldn’t and didn’t vote for the show you are most likely referring to.
Fat Albert wasn’t that controversial.
Actually I stand corrected - this was pretty edgy stuff for a ‘70s Saturday morning kids’ cartoon:

I didn't realize I had "That 70's Show" ranked in my top 10 but it is a great show and one that I have watched several times all the way through. I try not to get hung up on the actors and their issues as that would exclude a LOT of TV and movies.

I had it at #92 out of 93 shows i ranked.
Its fun and all, but its pants really.
The only show I ranked lower was Sliders.

Pants is something good right? :oldunsure: Since I was the high voter on the show at #39, I'll testify for the defense.

It's mostly a nostalgia pick; Batman is the second show (after Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color (unranked)) I can remember watching as a kid. I distinctly remember being upset when my pre-communion class conflicted with one of the nights it was on.

As a child, I liked the action and preposterous cliffhangers which I analyzed with my friends at Fairview elementary school during recess. When I re-watched as an adult, I appreciated the campiness, casting choices and pop art visuals with bright colors, dutch angles and superimposed fight sounds. The show fell off in the third season with one-parters featuring Batgirl but for a while it represented the zeitgeist of the mid-60 as well as any show from that era.

Part of the appeal is that we now know that Adam West and Burt Ward were banging groupies before, during and after filming every day during the show's run. Some of the stories are as campy and extraordinary as the show was.

is there a book out on this - or an article you are referring?

I think the legendary Batman cast debauchery is well documented. I don’t have a link but it’s not hard to find.

I wonder if he is where Seinfeld got his "what's the DEAL with [random thing]?" shtick from.

There's a lot of good ones out there but I haven't watched enough of them to have ranked it.

I never did watch Squid Game. I'm just not sure I'm interested enough in it. Someone sell me on it.

Premise, cinematography, acting and writing are all great. It's just a fun, but brutal ride. And with it wrapping up this summer, it will not overstay its welcome like so many other shows.

Also, whenever I rank foreign shows, it's with the footnote that you are NOT watching the dubbed version. It's inferior in just about every case.

It's been high on my list to watch as well, but seems to be very polarizing among those I've talked to. Some seem to love it, others meh.

Great choice. I never thought about lumping all of the 30 for 30 as a single "show". In my mind they were all separate documentaries and didn't want to pick out a single topic.

I don't really have a desire to watch it. I don't know much about it other than being some sort of game where people die off. I also am not a fan of subtitles and dubbing does take away as well so that is another knock on it for me. I might watch an episode to get a feel for it but don't have high hopes.

No, this one fits into my two least favorite show categories.
Game shows
Reality shows
don’t think Squid Game falls in either of those categories imo

They made a competition show after the actual show
Really? I didn’t know that lol

ETA, but that’s not the one ranked here right?

Yeah I assume it’s the actual snow ranked. Season 1 was pretty good but didn’t love the ending. Season 2 didn’t really capture my attention

The one ranked here is the drama. It's not a game show or reality show.

I believe that early on in this thread it was discussed whether this was a series or a bunch of standalone made for TV movies. We were told series.

I just thought it was in another language, so it's out for me.

The only foreign language show or film I ever enjoyed was this one in French my senior year of college. A town had like an accident or something and there may be were ghosts or something. It was very romantic and sad. I can't say for sure it was amazing, but the classmate I started (and finished) watching on the couch of after our audit project was very attractive and she was just in the absolute most desired mood every time we watched it...

Now that I think about it...Maybe the show was just ok and the other memories are what make me recall it so fondly!

I really enjoyed this one, obviously. I feel like it's a better watch if you just completely forget that it's tied to Yellowstone. it's amazing as a standalone one season show.

Never saw Shameless. Does it stay good throughout its run? I feel like I've heard it spirals.
1883 - I know it's supposed to be better than Yellowstone but I still don't think I have any interest in it.

big fan of this one, went downhill towards the end but at its peak it was great. Frank was always an adventure

Was near the end of the series until i realized Monica was the same actress that played Nancy Spungen in Sid and Nancy

I have another foreign language show higher on my list (not counting some British stuff I probably need subtitles for) that I will recommend you check out when it gets revealed - I’m pretty sure there will be others ranking this one.

At first I thought you might have been referring to The Benny Hill Show, in particular when he sings.

I don’t mind foreign language shows, but I’m not a huge fan of subtitles, especially if I’m binging something. So a lot of times I’ll opt for the dubbed version, even though that can be distracting in its own way

I love Shameless!....Great characters! It's such a train wreck.....Joan Cusack is low-key awesome

Squid game......I tried the first couple episodes and lost interest immediately, and wondered "why the hell is this so popular?"

1883.....Totally awesome! Better than Yellowstone.

Love me some 30 for 30....best thing on ESPN
