The Top 300 Greatest TV Shows of All Time: FBG Consensus: 50 Lists received. 2: Seinfeld 1: Breaking Bad (16 Viewers)

I have a seen a few Twilight Zone episodes and they were good. It just wasn't a show I saw a lot of so I couldn't rank it.
My only memory, and it's vague and possibly wrong... a gorilla on the wing of a commercial flight??? Weird stuff. Never watched much.
Gremlin. The gorilla you remember is William Shatner.
In the movie version, John Lithgow played the part William Shatner played in the tv show. Worlds collide in this scene in 3rd rock from the sun:

How was your trip, Sir? Relevant part starts at the 1 minute mark.
That's awesome. Only Shatner could be The Big Giant Head.

I've seen a few twilight zone episodes. They were ok. I feel like I haven't watched enough to justify ranking it though.

I had Mad Men on my list so I started watchinh it a few days ago. Hamm is good but I'm waiting for , mind you I'm only a few episodes in, the story to move beyond "look how toxic these guys from the 60's are!"

Don’t worry there’s a great rendition of Zou bisou bisou in later seasons as well as a great pitch to Hershey’s Chocolate

That's great - never knew that scene existed. Right up there with the St. Elsewhere Coolidge/Salami crossover scene mentioned way back in the thread.

You put a show on your list that you didn't start watching until a few days ago?
Am I missing something there?

I think season 1 is the weakest. It definitely builds and builds as it goes. Season 1 I just kind of an introduction to the world.

yes, the fact that I didn't rank it. I have a list of stuff to watch. Doesn't everyone?

makes sense

#63 - a popular sitcom that I know AAA also has on his list. Sitcoms in general didn’t fare that well in these rankings, so it’s not a huge surprise but still interesting not too many had this on their lists.

I’m still kind of blown away it won’t be in the top 300 - especially given the demographics in this forum. I think it will be the biggest injustice in this whole effort!
Pm me

:lmao: - it’s already in the PM thread we have going- day drinking? ;)
gotchya

I was hoping it was The $10,000 Pyramid.

Mad Men was as funny as any comedy but also brought the drama.

My favorite part of the show is how the worked all of the historical events of the 60s into the context of the show.

It was also wild to see how different working life was back then. Seemed more fun back then.

The wit and wisdom of Roger Sterling
Slattery owned Roger in a much similar way that Hamm owned Don. The one-liners are his trademark, but he expertly played Roger as the son who never lived up to his father's name (and knew it), was a bad husband and an aloof father. He also had seen horrible combat in the Pacific in WWII, which left deep emotional scars.

In the episode where they give the backstory of how Don came to Sterling Cooper, when Don arrives at the elevators for his first day and falsely tells Roger that he had hired him during their lunch, it's clear that Roger has no recollection whatsoever. Slattery slumps and frowns because he knows that this is a decision he made while blackout drunk, something that happens quite frequently.

Slattery nails that realization in just a couple of seconds.

Underrated line was when Lou had a tiki bar set-up in his office and Pete, cheerfully amused, chirps, "I'm drinking rum!"

That rare treat where your expectations were very high going in and it still exceeded them.

I ranked it, but not as high as others. For as realistic as a lot of it was, it got a lot of the characters wrong in favor of being overly sappy. It's a tribute piece and it works well as one, but it could've been a lot more interesting as well.

The BoB quote that always gets to me:
“The only hope you have is to accept the fact that you’re already dead. The sooner you accept that, the sooner you’ll be able to function as a soldier is supposed to function: without mercy, without compassion, without remorse. All war depends upon it.”
