Tiger Woods (1 Viewer)

for instance say he like fish the band he would talk about it until you basically wanted to jame a meat thermoter in your ear and start pounding
To be fair, putting a meat thermometer in your ear and driving it in with a rubber mallet is the only appropriate response to Fish.

there is this guy at the bar named mick and its like everything mick likes he is an expert in and you can not even get a word in edger wise for instance say he like fish the band he would talk about it until you basically wanted to jame a meat thermoter in your ear and start pounding and then he would tell you that you are too dumb to even listen to fish because you would not get it man you are so mainstream and then you are like ok if me and everyone else here is so stupid why do you keep on coming around and tlaking about stuff and trying to play pool with us maybe just leave and go find some other group of people that you can hate i am just trying to enjoy my high life and watch the game all right and then every other thing that he talks about it is like he is the best and you are dumb and hell even if you can even bring something up that you know he does not know about then old mick even though he has never done it will still be the biggest expert in the world about it and even if i like something that mick likes i pretty much just start to hate it just for the reason that mick likes it and that is how i feel about tiger woods bam take that to the bank brohans
Might be time to retire this shtick. It was a good run, but the greats know when to walk away.
Do we?

http://blogs.golf.com/presstent/2013/05/marshal-i-didnt-say-anything-to-tiger-about-sergio.html

Tiger Woods and Sergio Garcia had a misunderstanding on the par-5 second hole at TPC Sawgrass on Saturday that reignited the two golfers' longtime feud. However, the marshal who was following the group said Woods's explanation for his actions on the hole was not true, according to Sports Illustrated's Michael Bamberger.

In the third round, on the 2nd hole, Woods hit a poor tee shot into the left trees. García hit a better tee shot, on the right side of the fairway. If the players had been communicating properly, García and Woods, or their caddies, would have established an order of play. But there was nothing like that. García, playing out of turn but not able to see Woods, was disrupted as he started his swing by a modest cheer from the woods, where a large group of spectators had surrounded Tiger, forming a human V around his ball. The cheers were a response to Woodss pulling a five-wood out of his bag, meaning that he was going to attempt an absurdly difficult recovery shot. García, after fatting his shot, turned his round chin in Woodss direction and glared.

Its very simple, García said during an NBC interview. You have to pay attention to whats going on because the other guy is hitting. You do something when youre in the crowd, and the crowd is going to respond.

Returning serve, Woods said, The marshals, they told me he already hit, so I pulled a club and was getting ready to play my shot, and then I hear his comments afterward and its not real surprising that hes complaining about something.

Well, when they heard that remark from Woods, the marshals were surprised. One of them, Gary Anderson, said on Sunday, He didnt ask us nothing, and we didnt say nothing. Were told not to talk to the players.

Andersons boss, John North, was the chief marshal for the first three holes. He stood over Woodss ball to protect it from the throng and was five feet away when Woods played his shot. North has worked the tournament as a volunteer marshal for 30 years, hes a graduate of the Naval Academy, he served in Vietnam, hes a FedEx pilot and he donates his round on the Stadium course for being a volunteer to the Wounded Warriors project.

Nothing was said to us and we certainly said nothing to him, North said. I was disappointed to hear him make those remarks. Were there to help the players and enhance the experience of the fans. He was saying what was good for him. It lacked character.

Hours later, his workweek done, North watched the tournament on TV in a military appreciation tent. I hate to say it, but I was rooting for him, North said of Woods. It tears me apart. But when hes winning..."

"It lacked character.". :lmao: Get over yourself, Forrest. That said, I had a feeling he made that part up. Which is odd, because he didn't do anything wrong.

I wouldn't put a little white lie past Tiger in that context. Had he thought for a second he'd have recognized that somebody in the media center would find the marshal in question and talk to him.

I wouldn't call that a white lie and I wouldn't put any lie past a guy who spent the better part of his adult life tangling himself up in what had to be the biggest web of lies ever. The guy is the greatest golfer to walk the earth. He is also a dooshbag.

I don't like Sergio anymore.

Was Tiger wearing any pink yesterday? A ribbon or anything? Didn't see it. Kind of dooshy to not at least pin a ribbon on your hat.
:lmao: Why?
They were doing a "pink out" in celebration of mothers and breast cancer awareness. The most recognized and visible player to not participate? Kind of strange. Or maybe he did and I didn't see it.
You cannot be serious.
I find it amazing he never throws a bone. It would be so easy. He's the face of golf and I find it strange a guy in that position would be so overtly self-centered.

But let's not get carried away. In general I'm a Tiger fan and this is way down on the priority list.

Yeah, history suggests he's a great guy, shocked he didn't wear a pink ribbon. He's into porn stars and pain killers, he's not trying to be a role model.

So am I, but I would wear a pink ribbon to make people feel goos if someone asked me.

I was listening to satellite yesterday and a guy called in who was supposedly standing next to Tigers ball.He said Tiger walked up initially with a red wood in his hands....which makes sense since he used the 3 off the tee. The crowd reacted as he was walking up, thinking he had already pulled a wood for his 2nd shot. This guy then said Tiger asked the crowd to quiet down, and 'someone' told Tiger at that point that it was OK because Sergio had already played his second. Tiger then pulled the 5 wood and went thru his routine.

And where are the "slow play" nazis?? They were banging their drum about how the kid was an "example" at the Masters. Did any of you watch this last week's tournament? What say you now?

I guess the Tiger Woods Foundation is fake.

I can respond to this as I'm pretty close to the Tiger Woods Foundation. Matter of fact going to their benefit concert (TigerJam) at the Mandalay Bay this weekend. (Kid Rock). Participated in that and many other events for the past 10+ years. Here's my take. Tiger does great things for kids. He's got a soft spot for kids, and really does get a kick out of seeing those from underprivelged environments get a chance to play golf and more importantly succeed at the Tiger Woods Learning Centers. I went to a benefit event at Pebble Beach last year and the speakers were college graduates who were able to be the first one's in their families to go to college because of the Foundation. So when it comes to giving to kids there is no denying he walks the talk in a big way.

He's wary of adults outside of his inner circle, and for the most part for good reason. People want a piece of him. Whether it's time (of which he has little free) or something else he is just not warm or fuzzy with people he doesn't know well. Once he knows you (and I don't know Tiger but know those who are very close) he can be cordial, easy going, etc. But not always. Tiger from what I understand is self centered, as you might expect. He's not Phil. He's always a ruthless assasin when it comes to competing. He is focused on winning - everything else is noise. Could he be less guarded, sign more autographs, etc? Sure. I do think it taints his image. Hopefully it will improve over time. But I don't think it's in his DNA. It's not as if he's Barry Bonds, who likely wouldn't wave at a kid in the stands from the Make a Wish Foundation (now that dude is an #####), but he's not Cal Ripken either, who I saw stand at the dugout and sign for 2 hours for fans lined up all the way to the foul pole. That said, I don't think Tiger would be as successful on the course and be the player we love to see on Sundays if he was wired differently.

There are many marshalls lining every hole. Easily conceivable that he got a nod from another marshall.

How is this embarrassing?

I work the Boeing classic each year. I was told the same thing when I used to work as a marshall. Players aren't to be approached or spoken to unless they first approach or speak to you.
I was referring to the lack of control of the English Language by the person who wrote the article.

So Tiger is a liar and a cheat?

How is this news?
>>

So now there's a story out about Tiger lying that the marshall told him Sergio hit already.

lol

frigging soap opera
:oldunsure:

new to this thread?
this shtick is so annoying

The link to the "lying about the Marshall" story was literally one post above yours.
yeah, I know. the Tiger/Sergio thing is a soap opera.

Someone posted above that a bystander at the tournament Saturday who was near Tiger's ball confirmed the story. The confusion seems to be that Tiger thought it was a Marshall who gave the all clear to hit, and it may not have been. Upthread.

Makes good sense here.

The Espn article today mentioned that Merion is a course Tiger had never played. Tiger says that is the case. I find that almost impossible to believe. For starters, I imagine that professional golfers who have been on the national circuit since they were 13 have played pretty much every high-quality course in the country at some point. Secondly, they were awarded the 2013 USO after the 2005 Amateur. It is baffling to me that a player like Woods (or any of the others who say they've never seen the course) wouldn't take a day-trip to the course and play 18 on a Tuesday morning sometime in the last 8 years. Strange.
