You're right, it was Friday. Still applies.
Anybody can construct imaginary scenarios to anything. This is Tiger Woods at the peak of his powers at Augusta about to take the lead with all the momentum. Adam Scott and Angel Cabrera are great players. They are not nearly as good as Tiger Woods is at the moment. All supposition. Actually, Adam Scott and Cabrera rise to the challenge and birdie the last seven holes on Sunday. Tiger ends up 3rd.No, he has a kick in birdie and takes the lead. Then maybe (probably) makes another one coming in with the momentum and those Saturday pins and sleeps on the 54 hole lead, something he's pretty good with. Instead, his nerves are fried and he's just trying to get to the clubhouse. Then he wakes up with the possibility of being DQ'd. Then the golf community collectively laughing at the ruling and calling for him to WD. Then he gets to go out and try to come from behind. If he gets to the clubhouse with the lead Saturday, he more than likely wins.He goes into a 3 man playoff. It was a 4 shot swing Ace......he wins if he doesn't hit it.Bull####He wins the Masters if he doesn't hit the pin on 15 on Saturday.Whoa.I know you wub Tiger, but this is a ridiculous bet for you.JuniorNB:1k says Tiger wins a major in 2013. Take it or leave it?
I can construct imaginary scenarios too.
So who cares? He didn't win, for whatever reason. And your merely supposing he woulda, shoulda is puerile.Anybody can construct imaginary scenarios to anything. Well, to be fair, the original context here is Otis's bet and whether it is a "good" bet for him or not. I think we can all agree Tiger is the best bet to win a major this year and very likely could have won the Masters, but none of those facts suggest an even bet that he'll win one this year is a "good" bet.Apple Jack said:I guess you're not big on context, huh?
I love Tiger and think he's the best golfer ever, but I'd be foolish to not throw a couple hundred down on this too. I'd jump on board if this is an actual wager.John Bender said:I might be tempted to add to our 500 on this at straight odds. He's sickeningly transparent. In fact, he flip-flopped in this thread when Tiger stared playing better. Here was his first post in this thread (Page 2):Ghost Rider said:Clever strategy by Otis here. He knows almost no one will accept a 1K bet on Woods winning a major, so if Woods fails to win one again this year, the minute anyone tries to call him out for going another year without winning a major, Otis will chime in with, "Yeah, you are talking big now, but you wouldn't put your money where your mouth was back in May." It is clever, yet so transparent.
That's about 58% against. Close to the 56% I got looking at Oddschecker's single-tourney odds.Aaron Rudnicki said:Tiger winning no majors was -140 at 5dimes. Even money looks like solid odds for O to offer here.
I don't get it. I'd say I pseudo-religiously watch 70% or so of every golf tournament over the last 10 years of my life and I attribute that to Tiger Woods I love golf and I love Tiger. Why does everything have to be so absolute with the Tiger fanboys and Tiger haters? He's playing amazing, best golfer in the world but still hasn't won a major in years as badly as I'd like to see him do it. The pin argument is dumb. To win a major, you need many GOOD breaks, GOOD rolls, and GOOD bounces too. I remember commenting multiple times last weekend "wow Tiger got really lucky with that lie otherwise, he was going to bogey this hole" or even commenting about Angel Cabrera getting a couple of great breaks on Sunday at the Masters. That's what golf is and why I've broken so many clubs over my knees. Sometimes the ball hits the hole and runs past the hole 40 yards. Sometimes it hits the hole and touches the bottom. If you want to give Tiger the "flag stick" argument fine, but let's pick apart the 10 or 11 so "breaks" that he got too. Can we take those away and call those bogeys? I play a lot of golf, that's how it works for everyone...from Tiger to my 10 year old nephew. It's a silly argument. I hope Tiger wins all 3 majors this year and smashes Jack's record but this thread is pretty ridiculous at this point.Of course we are. The dude hasn't won a major in five years. Reporter: Tiger, you just won the players championship and 150,000 bitcoins, what are you doing next?

I still don't think he is better than Rory when Rory is at his best (or that his recent run of 4 wins is more impressive than Rory's run of 3 last fall) and I also think that there is much more to write on the golf script this year. Rory is in a bit of a slump for sure, but he has a better golf swing than Tiger and will win some tourneys this year. Rory wins a major this year and that is 3 in the last 3 years. 1. He's still the best golfer in the world by far. Anyone who thought that would never happen again was wrong.
2. He hasn't won a major since his injury and tabloid stuff.
What else is there to discuss?

Intersting thought. Rory is similar to a young Tiger....their swings have been compared at the same age. No doubt Rory can get hot and blow people out, like Tiger at that age.But I like the mature Tiger swing. It's built for consistency, which is showing now that he's finally healthy again.I still don't think he is better than Rory when Rory is at his best (or that his recent run of 4 wins is more impressive than Rory's run of 3 last fall) and I also think that there is much more to write on the golf script this year. Just bet Otis $500.I would take $500 of the bet that Tiger doesn't win a Major

My 'crapping the bed' in this thread, as you so eloquently called it, has to do with everyone getting excited everytime Woods wins another Pep Boys Invitational and claiming he's back to being the golfer he was when he was winning majors at a record pace. I've seen the apologists go from claiming certain tournaments are as important as the majors, to hearing them blame the flag, to claiming that the majors aren't all that importrant in golf. I'm enjoying watching them move the goalposts everytime another major comes and goes without him winning and claiming some sort of victory in this thread when the main point of the OP was that Nicklaus' record as safe.
But come on, man. He's a top golfer. Aren't the chances pretty good that the guy is going to eventually win a major? Look at all the different ones that have since Woods last won one. He's playing well this year. You'd be an idiot to bet that he won't win one of them. Besides, I've never been a gambler, although I lost a dollar to my daughter on the Ameriocan Idol winner this year.

Tiger wants it too much and the fear factor is gone. Lots of depth on the tour these days, I think it is easy to take either side of the bet.If he wins two or three, does that turn into you buying twice or three times? Dude should have negotiated that. I don't see how anybody can look at how he's getting around the course and bet against him. He won the Players hitting shots he was practicing for Merion. And he'll probably do the same at Memorial next week.
I think that was the case perhaps in 2010 and 2011, and maybe even 2012, but he's elevated his game this year. He has all facets working, and when that's the case, it's a lot easier to just let it go and play. He was trying to win while struggling with both confidence and executing shots over that fire hydrant>2012 stretch. It's a whole new ballgame now. And before these knuckle-draggers start in again with their noise...I DON'T LIKE TIGER. Just enjoy seeing great things and call it like I see it.Tiger wants it too much and the fear factor is gone. Nicklaus' record is safe. In the subsequent years, I've gotten great joy watching you guys move the goalposts. And while I THINK he'll win one this year, I'll be very sad when he does.So you think he will win one or two majors this year...he is a top golfer...yet you have been arguing for the premise that started this topic? If I had ever claimed he'd never win another major, THAT would be putting my money where my mouth is. But since I claimed he would win a major in 2013 (maybe even two), putting my money where my mouth is would be on the same side as Otis. Tough for ntwo people to bet that way.Because a bet actually puts the $$ where your mouth is. Since you've crapped the bed in this thread since it's inception, I say make the bet with Otis and stop playing it off like you agree with him after trolling his ### since this thread started.Pssst. Einstein. I've said repeatedly that I thought Tiger was going to win a major this year. That's what Otis wants to bet. How can two people make a bet when they feel the same way about something? Ooof1K would buy a whole lotta Popeye's, but JuniorNB is on a diet. What is the latest on the "fried chicken" scandal?
Yeah...thats not talking out of both sides of your mouth at all.
Oh, and if he wins 2 this year...how is Jack's record just safe?
And you would be sad if a golfer wins a major? Seems pretty pitiful that your emotions will change so much over such a thing.
Dr. Gobbler >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Junior Scared of OtisIf you think I'm betting money AGAINST what I think will happen, just because some limp-wristed messageboard punk is trying to apply some sort of high school peer pressure stunt, you obviously think a bit too highly of yourself, Little Drummer Boy.

And you are, of course, the judge of Tiger's character.I've just never been able to cheer for low character guys.
