Tiger Woods (10 Viewers)

My favorite crow thread running.
Update? How many majors has Tiger won since this thread was started?Total chokefest for Woods today. Shot himself out of the tournament.
The truth doesn't fly in this thread brah. Similar to last time, Otis and the select few in here will disappear for a few months until Tiger wins again, and then say the rest of us were dead wrong! My prediction of two wins and no majors appears to still be safe, most likely. Of course that won't be mentioned until Tiger wins again. :drive:

I just don't understand the eating crow bit. Doesn't the guy need to win a major before going on like that? The prediction is dead on so far.

Kind of how you and zoo and others were missing for the first 2 days of the tournament only to show up now?

Of course they did. The reality is that Rory, Phil and all the other "top" players in the world aren't even around today to compete. Tiger had one rough day on a hard course after two great days, and he is still in contention here.

Tiger was a mess from the get-go yesterday. He's not out of it completely, but my guess is it'll be a very difficult setup today and the winning score at even par. I think he needs 66 or better. And based on how he hit the ball and putted yesterday, he's got his work cut out for him. He has to get the speed figured out early.

He essentially needs to make every up and down, drain almost every put within 15-20 ft, and stop hitting his bunker shots fat. That's a lot to ask out there.

I'll go a step further and say his ball-striking needs to be so good that he doesn't hit any bunkers. It pretty much needs to be a miraculous round of golf. He's not incapable of such a thing, though.

I lovbe how you keep blowing loads all over the place whenever Woods has a good round. Calling out Finless and acting like three years of him being correct will suddenly make him, and all the detractors, wrong. You make such a fool of yourself. But keep doing it. Your humiliation is a great source of comedy for everyone else. :lmao:

Why don't you take a closer look back dawg. I was here during the Memorial. I never go away!!!

Woods has never shot over par in the third round in any of his 14 major wins. And he has to do something he's never done before: win from behind in the final round. In all 14 of his major wins, he had at least a share of the lead after 54 holes.

What was the deal with walking into to cameraman and then behaving like his hand got slammed in a car door? He was behaving a little psychotically, Ty. What gives?

He was pissed. He doesn't like most photographers. The guy was in the way. I imagine he hit his hand on the camera and got a shot of pain Hands are pretty important in a Major Championship. Looked pretty straight forward.

Guy was crowding the ropes, maybe even positioned the camera over or under them. Tiger was passive aggressively trying to brush into him I think to tell him to back off. Then he hit his hand. Maybe that was part of the plan, to knock the camera out of his way. Tiger can act like a baby when he's not playing well. Cusses, tosses clubs etc.

Exactly. I even said to my brother in law after he missed the putt, "I wouldn't want to be between Tiger and the driving range right now."

No doubt that wasn't the Tiger of old. Really played very poorly - was way off all day long. Its wrong to say he has no chance today ...but its not likely either. I will still be rooting for him and hope he catches some fire. Throwing a little 67 or so could do the trick.

I still believe he will beat my childhood favorite's majors record.

Yeah, I was expecting him to do a full out flop there - that must have really, really hurt his hand.

No question. You look at the history and this would be unprecedented for him to pull this out. And that's apart from the fact that he's, what, 5 strokes back? But he's the one guy I still wouldn't count out. He went from good to bad overnight, who's to say the reverse can't happen.

It would not be unprecedented as Johnny Miller came from 6 shots back at Oakmont in 73. If anyone can pull this off today it's Tiger.

I think I've heard that Johnny Miller did something like that on Sunday at the US Open.ETA: :lmao:

Problem is I don't know if he can get out of his mind just how bad he hit it. I mean every shot. His tee shots were poor other than some good stingers, his irons were poor all day with distance control, when he missed greens he didn't get up and down, and he putted poorly. That's a superfecta folks. Again, I think he overdid what was working (we all do it - have a swing thought that works and then go to extreme). He's just too open - on everything. Ball doesn't cut as much as he wants so he just keeps opening up more. His alignment looked totally off - he was putting with an open stance too. If he's more square today he's got a chance. If not, expect more of the same - probably 2 or 3 over.

Time for Foley to earn his money and correct it.

I was embarrassed for him. Acting like a 13 year old when things don't go your way never plays well on TV. Fascinating though. The real Tiger is so much more f'd up/interesting than his image.

Lee Janzen also came from five back to win the U.S. Open in 1998 -- the last time it was at Olympic.

And I think all the Tiger/not Tiger folks need to be clearer about what they're arguing.

IMO he'll never be the year in year out dominant #1 again and I doubt he catches Jack. But it wouldn't surprise me if he does get back to #1 for a while at some point and I think he's going to win his fair share of tournaments and snag a few more majors along the way as well.

Unprecedented based on Tiger's own history I mean.

I tried this. It didn't work. There is no room in this thread for nuance or reasonable positions. You will be pigeonholed and argued with in extreme absolutes.

FWIW, Janzen was actually 7 back at one point in that final round, and still came back to win

no, the point is that the prediction, which was that Tiger would no longer dominate but remain competitive, is still holding true. You said this was your favorite crow eating thread, but there is no one eating crow in here yet.He needs to win a major. Period. Until yesterday, he had closed 8 of 9 after holding a share of the lead after 36. Old Tiger doesn't shoot 75 on moving day. That was his worst 3rd round at the US Open ever.

The debate is whether this guy is back and will once again dominate and chase Jack's record. He is getting closer, but yesterday's performance was something we didn't ever see from pre-Ambiengate Tiger. He couldn't make any putts to keep himself in it. Didn't even really scare the hole. I give him a pass on the chip on 18, which he had to basically land on a frisbee to get close.

Let's see what he does today. I will say 73. T-12

:NOT DOMINANT:

This is all i've been saying. he isn't the dominant force he once was. he makes an insane shot at Memorial and closes that out big and egveryone has the annointing oils out again. I want to see him chase the record down, but I'm trying to look at what I see objectively. And I see a guy that is a a few fractions short of what he used to be. It would be epic if he could come from behind today, but I don't think he has the game to do it unless he can post a 68 somehow and the field falls apart. 66 isn't doable today by the look of things.

Is it too early to lock this up?

Dude is in control of every part of his game. Caught a couple bad breaks and worked through them without a meltdown. There's plenty of golf left on a really tough track with plenty of holes just waiting for a big number. tiger stays away from that and he has his next major.
:own3d: :pokey: The answer is emphatically No
