Mickelson shot +8 today and finished the tourney at around T65. The Mickelson knobbers think his performance was pathetic?
I don't think anyone considered Phil to be in contention this morning or even all weekend really.Did you expect Tiger to get outplayed by a 17yo kid this weekend? I didn't.

I think his point is that some of the top players in the world have crapped the bed on this course this weekend (and even before the weekend).That some just pile on Tiger because its the "cool" thing to do these days is laughable given the crapfest that was a lot of golfer's game this weekend.

Not really. This isn't a crap fest as much as it is a tough course that challenges the PGA Tour players. You know (or I thought) that just because Tiger went and did well two weeks ago at a course he had won four times previously and people would drink the Tigerade and think that he is back. Two weeks before the Masters he won at a course he had won six times previously and all the Tiger knobbers and Otis (one in the same) all came out and screamed how he was back blah blah blah. They even took the odds and bet on Tiger thinking the odds makers knew something. They sure did...that all the Tigger knobbers would bet on him and they would gladly take their money

His doctor and assistant both get caught at border with PEDs.We have here a person the likes of which his sport had never seen before. This man looked the part because he actually looked like an athlete. He was a person who could, seemingly hammer the ball so very very far. A person who would many times win an event that he merely played in, just on his intimidation presence and aura alone. A golfer that actually lifted weights and looked like an NFL LB or RB as opposed to being the out of shape tubby boys that the PGA Tour consisted of and was known for. Look back to October of 2009. Dr. Anthony Galea, who was the personal doctor of Tiger Woods, was charged in federal court for bringing HGH and other illegal substances into the States. This was the same doctor that treated many other athletes and BTW? He also lied to border officials to avoid being caught doing as much.Now of course we all know that Woods claimed that HGH and steroids would NEVER EVER be any part of any treatments that he received from Dr. Galea but are we really to believe a guy who is now known as a compulsive liar and cheater? Why should I or anyone else believe him when he claims that he never took or accepted these drugs or any drugs from Dr Galea, who has admitted that such things were a part of his healing medicine? So we are just supposed to believe it is a coincidence that of all the other athlete from that list of twenty PGA Tour players MLBers, and NFLers that Dr Galea treated one of them just happened to be Alex Rodriguez? Remember everything about A-Rod? A-Roid the admitted PED user. Go ahead and believe Tiger and his answers...he would never lie would he?What about you Binky? You don't think that there is smoke and fire in this Tiger/Dr Galea relationship?

Perspective was lost long ago in here.
He is absolutely getting back to that level. This is more mental than anything else, and confidence builders like this weekend will get him further and further into his groove. Next year he'll be devouring the field again.His last 9 tournaments: 15, 17, 2, cut, 1, 40, cut, 40, 1
So, 2 wins sandwhiched around the worst 3-tourney stretch in his career. He is capable of winning now, which is more than he could say for the last few years. But, he is inconsistent now - which is the same for many top players in the world. So, I think he belongs in the conversation as one of the top players today - it used to be there was no conversation, he was head and shoulders above everyone else. I don't think he is ever getting back to that level.
He is very good, he is not going to be dominant for long stretches again. nothing lasts forever. I still give him a shot at Jacks record, he is capable of winning, just not dominating.

No doubt is fishy but can't convict the guy at this point. You would think if there was a whole lot there it would have gotten more traction with as much Tiger-hunting that has gone on the past couple of years.

Tiger will win a couple more majors. Can't believe people think he won't ever win one. Maybe not here, but theres people out there. Old man Ernie is in contention right now, so Tiger has plenty of years left. Two guys on philadelphia radio have a very large bet(I think it might be Brian Baldinger of football coverage fame, and I think he bet a year or 2 ago, that Tiger would never win another major). Probably the stupidest bet I've ever heard of when you think of the odds alone of Tiger winning just 1 major each year.
Even if tiger doesn't have his best stuff, there are just too many courses he does well in. Augusta, St. Andrews, Pebble, and some more I'm sure. Not a major, but look at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, He's won 5 times, and some times when having a very poor year.

The USGA has always prided itself on setting up the course so that bad shots are heavily penalized. I was curious about this too. It seemed to me that year after year the US Open's crazy rough adds a big element of randomness which would make it more likely that lesser players might win. So I took a look at who won which majors.Since 1958, when Palmer won his first major, there have been 214 majors played.81 of those have been won by players who took down 4+ majors. Basically these guys are golf's royalty: Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, Gary Player, Tom Watson, Arnold Palmer, Nick Faldo, Lee Trevino, Seve Ballesteros, Phil Mickelson and Raymond Floyd.133 of the 214 majors since 1958 have been won by players who won three or fewer. You could make a case that the three-time winners belong in the group above, but they subjectively didn't seem as good or as well regarded as the 4-time guys. And they also matched the majors-won profile of the guys with one or two much better than they do the guys with four or more.Here's the breakdown of how many of each major was won by each group:Royalty (4+): 28 Masters, 24 British, 15 PGAs, 13 US OpensOther (<4): 27 Masters, 28 British, 37 PGAs, 41 US OpensWhat stands out for me is that the absolute cream of the crop golfers were much more likely to win the Masters and the British (52 combined) than they were the PGA or the US Open (28 combined).Golf's one-hit wonders and its good, but not all-time greats, were dramatically more likely to win the U.S. Open or PGA (78 combined) than they were the Masters or the British (55 combined).Obviously that's just one stab at it, and is by no means definitive, but I think you can make the case that the typical setup of the U.S. Open actually does make it harder for the great players to win, and levels the playing field for lesser talents.

The Masters is the easiest to win for the seasoned guys. Much smaller field, fewer contenders, heavy emphasis on course knowledge. That the Masters would have the most wins by the best guys was a no-brainer. And the best players in the world aren't always the best player in a given week.

The guy has a total disregard for hi wife and kid and bangs at least 25 other women, has temper tantrums like a nine year-old when he makes a bad shot, swears at fans who dare make a peep while he's 'working'....Woods is the ultimate jerk.
