Just watched most of the CBS coverage on DVR. I saw myself at least 3 times. The best one was a good 2-3 seconds when I was real close to Charlie Beljan when he was behind 17 green trying to figure out how to play that great flop shot he hit.

Appearance fees are illegal on the PGA Tour, but I figured getting both Tiger and Phil to go play a second/third tier event in WVa, there had to be something with the casino involved. I'm curious how the conversation with Finchem went.And I honestly might have taken Daly over Tiger this week. I don't think he's showing up to every event with all his horses aimed in the direction needed to win anymore. Especially an event like this one. I imagine he showed up to hit some shots in competition that he'll need to hit at Royal Lytham & St. Anne's, booze, and most importantly, gamble with house money. Then get out of Mayberry by Saturday morning. Same goes for Phil. If they happen to shoot some low numbers in the first two days, whatever, they'll stick around, but I doubt either of them was fired up to go out and win this tournament.

The PGA Tour just extended the Greenbriar Classic contract to 2021. Just in case anyone was wondering about the coming outrage out of Ponte Vedra.

Makes you wonder how often this "indirect" payoff thing happens. I've always wondered, but this is the first time I've seen it done and circumstances leading to a light being put on it. $3.8 million for Phil x2 and Tiger and not a single shot has been hit by either on weekend network coverage. This guy is a glutton for punishment. Although, I guess if you're a billionaire you can do ridiculous things like try to build a successful PGA event in BF West Virginia.

Yeah, because who would have thought a Macdonald/Raynor design with a historic affiliation with Sam Snead as the pro emeritus would have any chance of making it, eh?But I agree with the premise - the very rich are different from you and me.
The scoop I heard (from the same guy I was talking to in the stands on 18 about Tiger) is that the average tour player loves it because of all the stuff there to do and the anonymity they can enjoy in a small town. He said he was actually talking and smoking a cig with the guy that ended up winning, Potter, earlier in the week and had no idea he was a player until Potter told him. I hate it that Phil and Tiger don't seem to be trying hard or taking it seriously though.

Not really...the guy has one 3 times in solid tournaments (spare me the ham and egger talk from "you know who").A top 5 in a major would be a solid week and show he is not just some guy out there right now.And if Snedeker continues that lights out play. Would it really be a "failure" for a guy to go out and shoot 10-12 under and not win it all in an Open?Im sure to some in here that will refuse to give him credit...possibly even if he wins...it won't be enough though.

No, winning his first major in five years will do it for me.It is you guys who move the goal posts. This thread is about whether tiger will ever be dominant again. Not whether he is done completely. Top 5 finishes don't help your argument, and all your smoke and mirrors isn't going to change that.

He is having a solid year, no doubt. He will likely be in the conversation for player of the year too. However, he is still not dominant, and that was the whole purpose of this thread. After the 08 US Open you would have got great odds that Jack's record would be dusted by now. The odds that he wouldn't have won another major would have been off the charts. +2 through 3 today.
