Tiger Woods (4 Viewers)

Pretty amazing that after he wins this he's 3 wins shy of Sam Snead's career wins record -- and he's only 37 years old. He's got a ton of

l good golf left in him, and if he keeps winning

tournaments at even close to this clip, his career win number could end up being unbreakable.
Much like Jack's 18 majors won't be touched
Tiger's pretty close already, and again, he's only 37.
Let me know how much you want to wager on him breaking the record
I am good for 1k if you would like baloney. Same bet that Otis has with zoo.
 I'll make the same bet as well if he wants 2k of action.
When does this bet end?

I am now wondering if he will even make the cut. Regardless of your rooting interest, it really is baffling how he can play so well most of the time now, yet a major rolls around and he is doing this.

Seems to be playing OK...but so are 20 other guys. From the scores being posted, Tiger will need to post 3 under today just to keep pace.

Hell of a start
Changing the narrative about a guy from one tournament to the next is incredibly dumb. Changing it from one round to the next is even dumber. Hole to hole is so dumb not even Junior would do it. Shot to shot? Truly amazing. I didn't think that level of dumb was attainable.
Spit the hook out, sho jr.

Nope...

Most of his wins come on the same course year after year. 30 of his wins come on just 4 courses. That's over 30%. Other than the Masters, the majors play on a different course every year.

Wait a minute, I don't know anything about golf.

Looking up where his wins came from means you know something about golf?

You are not doing a very good job showing you have a clue.

His finishes in the last 5 majors: T3, T11, T4, T32, T6.

It's not like he poops the bed in the majors. Just hasn't gotten one of the seven he's played since he got healthy and started playing a regular schedule again. Might be some sort of psychological thing, but it's probably just normal variance plus maybe the unfamiliar courses and better fields at the majors.

Keep making yourself look stupid. You are a master of it.

I was wrong about someone shooting out their ### at a major. It was Simpson and Dufner and maybe this Hanson dude. Just not Eldrick.

That bogey on the par 3 hurts. He needs to pick up a 3-4 strokes on these last holes to stay in this. Test time starts now.

It's over

He will most likely hit 5 iron SW to the 313 yard par 4 coming up and make a par.

Even Matt kuchar hit driver and tiger still grinding for pars like its a us open. It's stupid.

If he doesn't hit driver then I have lost respect for his "game management"

You understand he's not hitting his driver consistently, right? First you can putt better than the masters champion and current leader of the PGA, but know you think tiger needs to hit driver when he's not comfortable hitting it? Take five, bud.

Nowhere did I claim I could putt better than Jason dufner

And yes, I could give two squirts if he hits it into Canada with his driver time to start taking some risks

You seem to want to ignore his 36 hole results at those majors compared to his 72 hole results.

I would love to see Tiger get to -2 by the end of the round. It is a great leader board but it will be so much better if he is at least hanging around.

And looks like he hit driver. He could care less about 2nd, 7th, MC. He is about winning....and he cannot win anymore at majors without taking some risks. His margin for error is a lot smaller than it was 10 years ago and the talent gap has shrunk significantly.

Serious question: how does one of the top golfers on the planet not have a comfort level with the longest club in his bag? The guy has probably practiced with the club a few hundred thousand times (at least). I realize the fairways are tight and it's a big pressure situation and blah blah. He's not hitting driver left handed - it's a club in the bag that he has been using for 30 years.

Amazing all this chatter about the guy who's 10 strokes back. There is more traffic here than in the tourney thread.

Stick a fork in him. See you at Augusta.

It's not often that you pass up an opportunity to make yourself look even more foolish than you are already perceived.

Thanks for your concern.

I referenced this in here the other day. It's what makes this game so amazing. That control is fleeting even for the best in the whole world. Nuts.

Looks like he didn't finish out well. Without those bogeys in that last 9 he's in this. Now he's got to have an insanely good day tomorrow. It's not impossible--lesser golfers are having ridiculous days on this course. He needs to be out of his mind good tomorrow to have a shot. But it's not impossible, not for him.

1) it's a longer shaft and it's more difficult to get the clubface square than it is with a shorter club. Much more so when you swing at 120+ mph.2) Simple math dictates it's harder to hit a 20 yard wide fairway from 300 yards than it is from 270.

3) the fairways will often be more narrow the further you get into the potential landing area from the tee.

4) all the big hitters struggle to hit fairways. They just tend to be stronger and can gouge it out of the rough. Major championship rough is deeper and much more difficult to get out of. Tigers ability to control shots out of deep rough is as impressive as any part of his game, historically. Some of the shots he's seem to defy physics.
