Tiger Woods (4 Viewers)

Looks like he makes the cut on the number at +2...

No Claret Jug for you this year, El Tigre...
Glad he makes the cut. I want to see him collapse even more this weekend.
Was actually wondering what the haters preferred- surprised this is the preference I would have thought you preferred that he miss the cut, because that's a stain on his legacy or whatever and you can fap to the MC next to his name not just through the weekend but at least until the next major. Now he'll just play two morning rounds and post some dull result like T-40 or something and the haters will throw little hissy fits all weekend about why they're showing him on TV when he's not in contention. Although I guess the flip side is that it creates more material for jokes?

Tiger will be teeing off around 3am EST this weekend, can't imagine too many folks (haters or not) will be up watching his round.

I like 4 days of ham and egger type performance. When he's hacking, I really enjoy the updates. It's when he's totally out of it, like now, and they show him make a par. That's so ridiculous. It's not going to bring back the nuthuggers. They all gave up long before he did. Most have tuned into women's basketball.

Rooting for McIlroy to finish at 20 under and erase an Eldrick record from the books.

Good point. Even more reason to prefer the MC, I would think.

I've said this before, but it bears repeating:

I was a HUGE fan of Tiger. Loved watching him. It was amazing to see him play, the things he could do and the feats he could so easily accomplish. But that all changed after everything came out about him cheating. I don't hate him for any other reason than that. is that a good reason to hate someone? I don't know. Maybe. I happen to have very high morals and strong family beliefs. It's not a religious thing. It's just how I was raised. I know not everyone is like me. In fact, I've taken a lot of flak from friends and not so much friends for my beliefs and feelings on the subject. But that's what I believe.

Do I think Tiger isn't one of, if not the greatest golfer ever? Hell no. He was amazing. There is no denying that. But I root against him now because of who he is, not because of what he can do. If that makes me a hater in people's eyes, so be it. But there's a reason I root against him. And it has nothing to do with anything other than his character.

You can root for or against people for any reason you like (although unlike many of the hundreds of other athletes caught cheating on their wives at least Tiger seems to still be interested in being a decent father). But that's fine. Yeah, it makes you a hater, pretty much dictionary definition, but you're hardly alone. Doesn't make sense to me, but who the hell am I to tell you how to enjoy sports?

No fear. ABC will replay pretty much every one of his shots when they come on the air.

Good thing about Tiger teeing off at 3am is that no one will be up to see him roll the ball to a better lie.

I believe there is a channel dedicated to Eldrick for the Open. I believe it is ESPN3.

The network says the feed will follow Woods for each round as he makes his first major championship start of the year at Royal Liverpool. The broadcast will be available as a feed on ESPN3. Should Woods miss the cut, ESPN will follow other players over the weekend.

That's gotta be a yawner. Just pull the plug already.

Actually he aims for spectators heads so as to stop the ball from advancing further into the rough. He gets an A+ for creativity.

Seemed like Sheik put some effort into a reply to me, so I replied to it.

Interesting.
I have to confess that I find it interesting. Your dislike for Tiger Woods has more to do with your perception of yourself. You're letting a complete stranger that you'll never meet affect your mood? Okay.
Affect my mood? I'm not sure that my mood has ever been affected by Tiger Woods. As I've stated, I've taken a lot of flak for my stance. That's fine. It doesn't bother me. But I'm not sure my mood has ever been affected by Tiger.

When I see you using the words love and hate I disagree.

Introspection is painful. I get that. I don't particularly like it when people remind me that my real problem is in the way I perceive myself. I don't expect you to like it either.

OK. I guess you nailed me.

I guess there are a lot of sports figures who have been less than stellar moral examples. Human frailty is everywhere. The thing which seems to add insult to injury in the case of Tiger Woods is that he was an icon for the game of golf. Certainly in the conversation for Greatest Of All Time. And golf is somewhat unique in that players are expected to abide by the rules and not cheat. Probably a lot have cheated, from time to time. But not all of them, and perhaps not even most of them. And Tiger showed some human frailties on the course; he cheated. Not all the time, but enough so that it called his greatness into question, in a way that had never been a question about Nicklaus and Palmer and Player and Hogan and Bobby Jones.

So I went from being a fan, to a disliker. Not a hater, because I don't hate him; but he is not a favorite and there are many other golfers I'd rather see win than him. But there are a couple that I dislike even more.

Apologies. Suggesting that someone honestly self-assess an emotional response was a bad idea. You may now return to your iLife full of schtick and frivolity.

:scared:

I see the bashers are out in force. Second tournament since a significant back injury and only 2 in several months.

Not arguing the overall point here, but anyone who expected anything more than mediocrity this weekend was delusional to start with- he had no chance this week either way.

Pretty sure Finless said the same thing - 5 years ago.

I would think somebody with those things would not "hate" so many people.

But that's just me.

Great day of golf watching - I taped it all and started in around 10am CST.

Tough day for Tiger though I was glad to see him finally get a birdie on the last hole to make the cut. Winning doesn't look to be in the picture but a lot of good things to build on.

I hate playing in bad weather/rain but I love watching others play in it. Hope tomorrow's weather is brutal and lets turn this tourney on its head.
