Tiger Woods (2 Viewers)

Speaking of blown minds, he should flip the script, suggest Watson pick Stricker - who would absolutely have made the team if he played a normal schedule - and offer up his own services as an assistant captain.
I hope he doesn't pick Stricker. He hurt us in 2012 IIRC.
I seriously hope he doesn't pick Stricker either. I wanna see younger players who don't have a losing stigma hanging over them and that have energy. Is Keegan Bradley on the team or would he be a captain's pick? A guy like that is much preferred by me than a Steve Stricker type. Bradley has the enthusiasm and fiery demeanor that Ian Poulter does. We need that.
The best putter in the world type?
He putts well but when you have 12 foot putts to save par every other hole...

I get what TJ is saying. Stricker seems to get caught up in the pressure of that stage and tends to press himself IMO. Last RC Dufner showed more emotion and spark than I've ever seen him in regular tournaments. I think it helps in match play where getting into the other guy's head is beneficial.

I think Watson should match Furyk against Rory in singles. That way Rory can get rattled and frustrated when Furyk takes 46 minutes standing over each putt.

Stricker isn't exactly known for his play under pressure and frankly his value on previous teams was that Tiger liked playing with him. He would be a horrible choice and not the swing for the fences pick you want when you are a heavy underdog.

That would be J.B Holmes...

"That John Holmes is LOOOOOOOOOOOONG"!

Who wants the best putter in the game for alternate shot and better ball matches when you could have the birdie machine that is Pat Perez!

Tiger is a narcissist.
Narcissist do not like to be told they are not up to par, so by withdrawing himself from consideration he did not relinquish control. I hope they cut him anyway and say the decision was theirs, not his. And I like watching Tiger, I root for Tiger, but this was pathetic.

Wasn't Stricker's record 0-4 at Medinah as a captains pick? Was his great putting on display on the 17th when he rimmed out his par putt against Kaymer?

Bradley is a Wild Card lock.

If Dufner's health is good, he's the 2nd lock.

That leaves Moore, Todd, English, Kirk, and Webb Simpson as the highest ranked golfers for the last spot.

Moore is the hottest, Simpson the most accomplished...I say Moore.

Um...Watson left it up to Tiger to make the call. He made the call.

Very unlikely Dufner plays. Not a lot to be encouraged by in the captain's pick pool.

Really? I thought it was a good move by Tiger and helped Team USA. Tiger knows his game is not at it's best, or even really good right now.

I don't understand the bashing.
Earlier in the week there was a report that Tiger considered himself still in the running. Then a 180 a few days later leads the cynical like myself to wonder if Watson called Tiger's rep and told him he wasn't going but give Tiger the out of pulling himself out.

Yeah, Dufner hasn't been playing well enough lately. Does anybody on that list at least remotely get along with Patrick Reed?

Dufner has two bulging discs in his neck. That's why he's been playing poorly.

I am in that camp. If it was Watson giving a professional courtesy to Tiger so be it...but the cynic in me says it is an ego thing.

Tiger pulling himself out was the right move. Not pulling out officially makes himself look like a selfish ##### AND puts Watson in an awkward spot. Watson would have to answer questions about Tiger every day if Tiger had not made the announcement.

This was the right move.

Agreed. I hate Tiger, but I'll give him credit here. Although, it probably killed him to have to do it.

I like Foley's work with some of the players (Mahan for example) but hated the results with Tiger.
I saw Foley interview on Charlie Rose a few months back. I don't like his approach. His idea of analyzing his students (sometimes) was to have them send their Trackman numbers to review and then give feedback. I understand teaching is headed to data and analytics, but you still have to watch the golf swing at the end of the day.

dumped Sean Foley

think he still has Butch's number?
Don't think it would happen - but boy, this would be a great finishing touch on Butch's career. I'm sure Tiger is pretty impressed with what Butch has done, including Ricky beating him like a drum in majors.

This needs to happen. Tiger needs to suck up his pride, admit he was a weenus, and ask Butch to take him back. #### Steve though.

It would be sweet to see him go to Arnie's swing and just destroy the field. Or have Furyk's dad work with him. That would be a funny commercial.

Has too much pride to call Butch.
Agree. Let a friend call a friend who can coordinate a detante.
I'd like to see it as well but Tiger isn't going to wake up one morning and be humble. It would be a great story, though. Tiger crawls back to Butch and goes on to shatter Jack's record. Tiger and Butch back together again. Secret pics leak out of Tiger and Butch in a bathtub together etc

Need a "Tiger Woods- Golfer" thread and a "Tiger Woods- Human Being" thread

I dont tune in Sunday to see parenting tips or how to be a good husband. I tune in to see 300 yard drives, flopodopolouses, and clutch 12 footers.
Rory is that away ------>
