Tiger Woods (1 Viewer)

Is this the part when all the guys who were silent or wouldn't pony up yesterday start calling Tiger a finished hand and egger?
There's like 2 of those guys here. Most sane people know "he'll be competitive, but he's lost the fear factor"
Poor Tiger gets so abused by the public and mistreated by the press. This guy could take a dump on the 8th green and would have 300 fans scambling to touch it while the guys in the booth would comment on how perfectly formed it was.
:lmao:

Is Tiger's body just too fragile now to win majors? How does he make it through 4 rounds of a US Open hacking out of the thick stuff?
He hasn't in 7 years  I don't think anyone's expecting it other than the lod1 equivalents on the other side.
I'm not even trying to bag on Tiger. All things considered I thought he played well.

The root thing bothered me though. Was it mostly dramatics, or is he that fragile? I'm trying very hard not to think that he was looking for an excuse to pick up his ball and go home.
He wasn't going to withdraw from the Masters.

no hitting a root hurts like a mofo. I almost broke my wrist on one

It's also important to make sure you wince enough to let your playing partners know about it in case you lose to them (so they know that's the reason why)

Well yeah. But seriously if you catch a root right when you start a divot and it stops your club instantly it hurts

Rory had ZERO fear. He wasn't even a consideration for Rose, Matsuyama, DJ, or Fowler, let alone JS. I think someone may have said the fear of Tiger is gone. He is relevant but if he wins one more major it will be an upset imo.

I dunno, the guy looked like a six handicapper two months ago, then comes back and finished in the top 15 at the masters. Id say thats a phenomenal turnaround for him, and for golf

Spieth is playing phenomenally, but the conditions are ridiculous. No reason whatsoever not to firm/speed up the greens today. They like him and prefer he have the scoring record than Tiger. That's the only explanation I can think of. The approach shots look like it's TPC Scottsdale.
minus the rain last night
They need 3-4 hours to dry the greens out. They could have done it. Doesn't make any sense. They want the scoring record broken.

The key for Tiger is staying in contention.

Once he starts playing badly, an ouchie tends to happen.
He didn't look like himself from the very first swing today though. He wasn't dipping down to get it like he usually does, like he did those first 3 days. He had a frustrated look on his face before the round even began. After the round he said it'd be a while before he played competitively again. Something has to be going on with the back is my take.

Good chance we don't see him again until Father's Day weekend.

I'd be shocked if he skipped The Players.

He hates Sawgrass. For good reason. But I'd be surprised if he didn't play it for the team. Either way, no way he doesn't play a few going into Chambers Bay.

I thought he was making #### up, then I see the root flying. That was real. If you've ever hit a tree root on your swing you knew what he felt - only at about 30 more MPH

I didn't even like his practice swings. Looked like the old move. He was totally off today. I think when he has to "go for it" he goes back to swinging extra hard, head dipping, etc. GIR were horrific.

I was working today and missed it. After watching the DVR, yep. As always, he reverts back to the dip. All he needs is somebody to drill it into his head to knock that off and he'll be fine. Not sure that will ever happen.

He was taking rips at it yesterday with the driver. His swing on the 17th tee yesterday and the 1st tee today looked very different, like the difference between a 30 year old guy and a 50 year old guy. He looked a little better as the day went on today. Just never got it completely loose.

The broken bone in the hand and putting it back into place shtick was pretty funny yesterday.Even the reporter who asked the question gave him a "really?" reply back and Tiger kept right on going with it.

Don't think he said it was a broken bone. Quote in ESPN article says "There's a little joint that popped out, and I was able to somehow put it back in, which didn't feel very good." and elsewhere mentions it as a ligament. I could certainly see where hitting a tree root at that swing speed could do some ligament damage.

I stand corrected but I still don't buy it.

Here was the quote I was talking about

Tiger Woods injured his right wrist on the ninth hole at Augusta National on Sunday of the Masters after his club clipped a root while hitting a shot out of the pine straw.

Apparently, that injury required Woods to play doctor on course. Afterwards, Woods had a quite graphic explanation about what happened: "A bone kind of popped out and a joint kind of went out of place, but I put it back in."

"Really?" asked CBS's Bill Macatee.

"Yeah," Tiger said nonchalantly.

The Nantz/Faldo conversation in the booth was funny too. They just barely managed to get through the discussion without actually saying "bull####".

Heh. Then on 18 Faldo gave a "i guess it's possible." but yeah, dude needs to give the drama queen routine a rest. i'm sure it hurt like hell and i don't doubt something may have been dislocated and relocated, but the constant need for fronting is a bit much.

13 strokes off the lead. 9 strokes off of second place. Finished outside the top 5. Outside the top 10. Outside the top 15. 2 rounds over par. Struggled off the tees. And not just a little. A lot. During his Sunday "charge" he only hit 2 fairways.

But did you see him chip????

Is Tiger playing better than he has in the past year? Yup. He most definitely is. Is he the Tiger of old? Nope. Never will be. Could he win a tournament here or there? Sure. Lots of people win tournaments. Will he ever win another major? I doubt it. He may sneak in one more like Jack did back in '85, but I think he's done (when it comes to chasing down Jack's record.)

Tiger had one really good round out of 4 this past weekend. Lots of players are able to do that. In fact, almost all of them can do that. The point I made on Thursday and Friday was that while he may not suck anymore, he's still not very good. And the facts all still prove that.

Of course, I don't have 28 years of golf industry experience. So take what I said with a grain of salt.

Guys like Speith are going to make it really hard for him to win another one even if he gets his whole game back to the best he can get it.

He didn't struggle off the tees at all on Saturday. Was hitting perfect drives.

Probably why I said he played very good Saturday. I'm just guessing here, though.
