Tiger Woods (9 Viewers)

Only 4 players under par today.  It was tough course with the wind.

I wouldn’t write him off with a +3 today.

BTW I’m available for more bets on majors this season. Maybe one of you guys will be smart enough to place sensible conditions on your end of the bet.
@Otis

I'll bet you a $1000 that Woods doesn't pass Jack in total majors won by the end of the 2018 season.

Yeah don't get the tiger hate.

The game of golf is more interesting by 100x when tiger is playing at an elite level. He reached a level that will never be duplicated in my lifetime. How many years was he#1 in a row? He had a couple seasons where he won every third tournament he played. Just crushed.

I would welcome a version of tiger that could win one major a year.

He's amazingly boring and seems to be a scumbag I find it hard to see myself wanting to be a big fanboy for him. If he gets it back I'm pretty sure if he's playing on Sunday I'm pulling for the other guy. I may be an outlier here.

Of course it will be great for golf if he's good again but I think I'm only pulling for him to be good so I can be a hater

I appreciate the Pats but I also love seeing them lose.

very strange ideology, imo.

a lot of the "best" of any particular era/sport/occupation are scumbags.   Half the guys we root for are on some drug, cheat or otherwise are morally flexible.  It is what it is.

If Tiger were to get back to contending in majors and lost a couple heartbrakers but won one that would satisfy the haters and the fans.

Sure. Maybe it's team sports as opposed to this individual sport, I don't know. Just don't find myself rooting for him to win or dominate again, If he wins I don't really care either.

Tiger was amazing to watch when he was Tiger.  In contention every week and made shot after shot that blew your mind.

This Tiger bears no resemblance to that Tiger therefore he's not really good for the game other than a curiosity.  I actually prefer all the great young guys to one dominate Tiger.

Jordan was the only person similar to Tiger in his heyday. Will never see that again
I agree.  Three amateur titles (what 2 with epic comebacks?) and just dominating the pga from the get go while being under the microscope since he was an early teen.  Tiger was a once in a lifetime.  Shame that 9 iron to the noggin ruined everything.

You do realize that not everyone agree with that, right?

A lot of really good young golfers right now and it's fun to watch the majors on the weekend without knowing that one guy is probably going to win.

I was gonna ask, "Wayne Gretzky down?", but his dominance far surpassed anything else we've seen in sport in our lifetime, so I decided not to.

Yes, he's down. Hockey at that time was more regional. Golf and basketball were all over. Both propelled the sport to another level.

Grimacing about how bad he still is. Name changed to Bogey Woods.
Glutes not activating and the back will go out soon....

Was hoping he would make it back but too many injuries and to much time off.  Plus there is tougher competiton across the board than 10 years ago.

Tiger's score this week is irrelevant, if he completes today's round without any discomfort than this has been an unmitigated success. His swing looks good and his putting has been solid. Tiger has never been the straightest driver of the ball but he has looked solid off the tee. The chipping has been a little suspect but nothing like the yips he had a few years back, most just rusty from lack of tourney golf.

I hope he keeps it up and gets to April playing well. I don't see him winning another tourney let alone a major again but it would be great if he could contend at the Masters for a few days.

Not a big fan of Tiger but agree with this

Whenever Tiger announces his retirement, whole field should wear red shirt and black pants.

So far started the day much stronger today. Looking more like the first couple days. Yesterday sunk his chances at this one, but this is super encouraging.

A birdie and two pars already that could well have been birdies, one lipped our and one had a bad hop off the fringe and fell just short.

Another birdie on 5.  Tough putt and read from ~10-15 feet?  Looking fantastic.
