Titans 2015 in-season thread (1 Viewer)

Sounds like Turzilli will play

(on if it will be easier to get Andrew Turzilli up to speed as he was with the team during training camp)

Yeah, it was amazing some of the things he did already in the walk throughs since he came out here. He already had picked up some things, and that’s not easy to do. That’s hard. When you’re in another system, the terminology is different. I don’t care if you’ve been here for a camp or not. I experienced something like that when I was playing. It’s difficult to retain that much information and to be able to process it and come out here. But he picked it up. (Wide receivers coach) Shawn Jefferson has got a long night ahead of him, a long day tomorrow, and they’re going to be sitting together on the flight. So we’ll see how fast he takes it all in.

McCourty 8.6 mil this year, for what? no offseason and 4 games?

Most expensive Titan BTW

Bad weather tonight, 89% chance of rain which is supposed to be a significant amount

I was expecting Michael to foolishly try to outscore the Jags dynamic O with his slow plodding 3 TE set. If that was the plan, I think it might work now.

Perfect week to finally use the FB.

I'm afraid of Cobb getting MM destroyed but curious if he plays.

To steal some thoughts from another board, a few times a game how come this doesn't happen?

Titans TEs know slot and FB well and Walker has lined up in every WR spot. Where's the set where none of them line up as TE? Supernaw as FB, Fasano in slot, Walker wide?

Fowler knows slot. Andrews and Sankey have lined up in slot and wide. Where's the set with all backs spread out?

What happened to Fowler at RB Klug at FB set?

JaxBill in jags thread thinks rain will taper off. "Titans in Two" video disagreed. I guess we'll have to check later

Heaviest rain is expected late afternoon. Supposed to taper off and be done between 8 and 9. Light wind. Field drains well, not expecting weather to impact the game.

I am here in jax and while it is not raining hard, there is no sign of letting up into the evening

thanks Bobby and Doe. These conflicting reports is about what I see. I figure once we hit the afternoon it'll be closer and more obvious. If only weathermen agreed, right?

Jags finally got Lee and Greene healthy.

If I were their coach, (like I want Mularkey to do with MM the rest of the way) I would pull Hurns the second I could. And Denard looked good at times last year, so Yeldon too.

They don't seem to think this way and Mularkey doesn't either but...maybe these bad franchises ought to.

Especially if it's raining. I'd almost bet $ one of these franchises makes a "grave" poor decision like this. Each got some signs of good things. Keep it, move forward, be leery of bad luck.

During presser he said final play was for Rico.

There should have been a big long hook to grab him and take him away. Next coach please

Mariota looked angry and upset and restraining himself. Curious about this week now. Never seen him like that

McCluster's knee and sore ankle (for weeks now) could put him out, but he has ten days rest before next game.

I would love it love it love it if David Fluellen got to play next game. I want to see the "yes coach" guy that works his tail off just like Andrews did last year. I am discounting Cobb's first game as rookie nerves and bad OL but I've seen he and Sankey run into enough walls, I want to see the hard-hat type again

Something was up at LB this week and last week.

Brown didn't get his spot back from Woodyard.

Cut a couple, brought back Tavai and Yannick.

Tonight, Justin Staples played D and did well in spots too. He came to Horton from CLE and has been a career ST. In preseason, he didn't seem to always play (but 15-16 other LBers did) on defense just his ST work and...I was shocked to see him out there.

He did well too.

Still it makes me wonder about a cut coming.

I also wonder about one of Tavai or Yannick. Horton had Staples on 5th 6th string defense, whatever last is. Lebeau takes over and does his own evaluation this past offseason. Tavai played with ones while Yannick with twos in camp and Staples was again wayyyy down the depth chart. Maybe he's won them over while those two were injured.

Tonight Staples was in at ILB and then I see him point at Orakpo, sub in, and stand up at LOS. That's two positions too. Kudos to him. I don't know if it was "best available" or what but he must've earned the opportunity. I love seeing ST players and PS players get a chance.

(cstu's I knew he'd type that:) And Turzilli absolutely should have been active and would totally have helped the way DGB was playing

On the last play, I really wish Mariota would have audibled to his WR at the top of the play to just snap it and throw it to him immediately. All the JAGS secondary were standing around the 5 yd line. With 5 seconds left, the WR could have easily gotten a good 7-8 yds and gone out of bounds. That would have left one play from the 15 yd line instead of the 23. I also realize he is a rookie though, so.......

Webster is the absolute worst. Until he's gone and they get more people in place who know what they're doing, there's no hope.

The Bears got Langford and their current starting safety in the 4th and 5th rounds. He must think that is really good, too. Idiot.

I'd fire Mularkey for saying Gailick is doing a good job or even insinuating it.

I told ya he was a bust this summer and didn't expect him to make it.

By quick scan, I'm seeing 4 starts 6 sacks allowed.

Matias still not getting a sniff. He and Spain were on 2nd unit and he did well. PK saying on twitter because Spain beat out Matias he gets the chance. I disagree on Titans theory-it's practice, put em' in and then judge. Why decide on paper when you have all week?

After struggling in the interior offensive line in Jacksonville, the Titans are looking at their options.

Mularkey said rookies Quinton Spain and Jeremiah Poutasi both worked at left guard in Monday’s practice, and veteran Joe Looney worked at center.

Against the Jaguars, Andy Gallik started at center, and Looney lined up at left guard.

“Andy, he’ll tell you, did not play his best game this last game,’’ Mularkey said. “Andy has really played well for us, to be thrown into the situation he was thrown in as a rookie…He has done well. He got beat a couple of times this last game. We are not trying to replace him by any means. We are just trying to look at our best options about who we are about to play, the Raiders this week.”

Mularkey said he likes Spain’s size and smarts, and “he works really hard.”

Spain, who made the team as an undrafted free agent from West Virginia, said he’ll be ready if needed.

“They gave me an opportunity, so I have to take advantage of it,’’ Spain said. “Whatever happens, happens.”

Sorry but can anyone else see the circular lunacy there? Does he know all but Looney are actually rookies?

Not trying to replace him, but Looney worked at C?

Titans site presser notes mostly ST and OLine talk. I guess he forgot he said McBride would play ST last week

(on changes to the return game with Dexter McCluster out)

We’re looking at some options. Obviously, you saw what we did, but there are some other guys. Perrish (Cox) has returned punts before, we’ll make that decision by the end of the week, but there are some options.

(on if Tre McBride will be on the kickoff return)

A better chance this week than last Thursday, I can say that. He just got his feet wet last week coming up from the practice squad, but there’s a good chance that could happen, yes.

Cox was excellent in college in the return game. He's way bigger and bulker and doesn't have that wiggle anymore. I think it's kind of odd now (made sense early in career) but I'm very curious

2:25 here if you're curious
