Probably a long shot, but...

Every time I've played, I eventually came across a spot that was basically a couple guys having set up their little home/armory on a street. There were a few guys you have to kill, and then the shelves and boxes were a treasure trove of weapons. A couple of every kind just lying around on the shelves. Again this is like sets of shelves just set up on some side street somewhere, no attempt at actually having a roof over their head.

Every single time I've played, when I found it I've thought, "Next time I start a new game I need to come here first so I'll have a few of each type of gun." And then I forget about it. Well, I'm remembering now, but don't recall where the place is. Does it sound familiar to anyone?

Haven't seen that one but my interest is piqued

There is a Talon company hideout south and west of DC, down where the dock is for the Point Lookout DLC. Is that what you are thinking about?

Thats the one near the National Library right? Theres like a Sentry guard robot you take out and its ruins are tiered with each level having loot.

I can remember a few places like this in the game, theres one thats near a bridge on the road to the library thats all raiders and has good loot. Another near the Russian dude living with 2 chicks place full of raiders. Another Raider one behind and above a metro entrance that has a guy with rockets and a bunch motorcycles that like to explode. Super Mutants have some hollowed out buildings with nice stashes in DC ruins as well, near the irradiated metro/bomb crater I think.

I have 0 clue why it would be different, but I got a non-Microsoft usb for the DLC. Fallout 3 is still a no-go, but the New Vegas one worked just fine. I guess there is my excuse to go back and play that one again.

I think I am going to restart New Vegas this week. I played through a bit of the early game to get a feel. I think I am going to buy a couple of the DLC as well. I am down to very little left to do in FO3 and I am basically unstoppable. Time for a change up. I will miss Dogmeat though.

Harddrive has arrived. Dlc tonight.
Awesome. I really thought Broken Steel meshed so well with the original. It was pretty seamless. You will also want to do Operation Anchorage if you have it. Not a long DLC but you get the best armor in the game. And of course Point Lookout. If you have it do it after you do the others. The enemies can be hard.

Yeah it sounds like one of the raider camps.

My current playthrough going melee is different. In addition to neglecting small guns, I'm also not bothering to sneak. I'm surprised at how easy it is to kill some things with a baseball bat. I recall some guys taking several bullets early on to drop, going down now with a few whacks of the bat. Although I really need to find a cooler weapon. Kinda nice not hoarding ammo for a change.I can tell I'll be doing completely different perks on this one too. Off to the super duper mart.

Hmm, not sure if it's any of those or not. I did just go through a ton of locations in the wiki to see if any of them sparked my memory, but nothing jumping out at me.

Ah well, history will repeat itself it looks like.

Operation anchorage is a beast of a quest. The mutants were a bear. Figured Ok cool. Nope. Go blow up 3 cannons. Fine. And now there is more?

Cripes..... fun as hell though. Love killing the ninjas.

Love how easy it is to get sidetracked in this game.

Yesterday started anew because of the usb snafu and decided that Megaton needed to be blown up. OF COURSE if I am going to go that route, I have to be able to loot everything from all the buildings first. Also wanted to get Jericho as a companion, so had to wander around to get my Lockpick up and get enough caps to hire Jericho. Pretty sure I visited 3 Dog, and "helped" take care of their Mutant problem (of course by that I mean wait around while they mostly kill them and then get the kill shot since I had hardly any ammo or decent guns). Got Jericho as a companion, and wanted to go after some bobbleheads, so started heading north to Greener Pasters and to try and remember where the Republic of Dave is. Ended up not getting close to there, and cleaning out Bethesda Ruins and the Armory since my companion seems to charge into groups of Raiders for fun. Got the Lockpick bobblehead in Bethesda and a bunch of decent guns. Picked up Dogmeat on the way back, and headed to Megaton. Decided I couldn't stand to hear the lady writing the book anymore, so attempted to sneak a grenade in her pocket. Didn't work, she screamed and took off, and her bodyguard jumped us. Took off after her, and of course the whole town is gunning for us now. I just went out for a bit, and ducked back into Craterside Supply and took care of everybody. By the end there was about 15 bodies heaped in front of the door.

Looted everything and went to Tenpenny to blow the place up, which looked great. Just before I quit, I glanced at quests, and WTF , getting the pharmacy supplies is still on there. I am wondering if Moira took off out of town before the blast, or if it is a glitch. Have a morning off again and a slight injury, so might find out soon enough.

Fun.

Yeah, my You Gotta Shoot Em in the Head mission still shows as a potential active quest even though I've killed everyone involved in it and I allowed the ghouls to take over the tower by force. I hate glitches like that - my video game OCD - but I've just lived with it.

And yeah getting sidetracked is easy.

Yeah I can't remember how many times I have set off to do something specific only to never get there and spend hours playing.

I don't think I could do the melee thing consistently. Interesting though. Super Duper Mart would seem tough melee. I guess you hit the guy by the bathrooms on the left first. Although sneaking would be good.

Moira is unkillable.

Even if you blow up Megaton she will still be there. She'll have just been turned into a ghoul.

Neato.

Several Ghouls? Nope. A few Super Mutants and a Brute? Not even close. You know what kills two companions at the same same time? 2 ####in' Mirelurks! This happens twice today. We were on the way to Rivet City - I realized I hadn't wandered over there for the INT bobblehead yet and was rounding on level 8. Pass by the Memorial and I walk over there for a second just to get it marked on the map. Get the message that Jericho died on my screen - WTF? Turned around and there were two Mirelurks by his body and soon after Dogmeat bit it.

I am a cheater, so I couldn't have that. Reloaded from a second ago, since that HAS to be a glitch. Just passed by the memorial to be safe, and on the way they help take care of several Mutants and Brutes. Make it to Rivet City, and since my lockpick is already at 100, we went in the back way to visit the Dr. so I can get Harkness' plasma rifle. Told them to wait right by the door. Sure enough, a couple Mirelurks pop up on my Pip Boy and of course, those two idiots run down there anyway and promptly die. I was severely hobbled from something else, and was going to rest and save after getting the rifle, so I die as well heading down there. In my haste, I forgot about the explosion at the top of the stairs and was on fire and took some good swipes from a Mirelurk. I guess I have to beat them down there when I restart again tonight, but if they die again, I am done with them. Mirelurks??

Any easy ways to make some caps? I need to outfit my Megaton house

Got those, but only turn them in when I come across them. I'm probably going to be making more caps faster now that I have the Strong Back perk and can carry more stuff. I'll just keep wandering and trying to find new places - I pretty much run across raiders and the robot dudes, and I should be able to make some dough off their armor/weapons/scrap. Reminds me of just cruising around in Skyrim trying to find new places...

I swear I have seen DM take on a Behemoth by himself while I was otherwise engaged and he is still with me. He was in a fight in a hall with two mutant masters, a couple of brutes and an overlord. I threw in a grenade not realizing he was in the middle of them. The only one to walk out was DM. I can not even imagine two mirelurks taking him out. Maybe I got a glitched one or something.

Meds are good. The only ones I don't sell are the 2 rads and stimpacks. Everything else goes. Good money. Make sure you get to the library and make the book deal. Prewar books make you good caps from her. Also if you have completed Broken Steel you can sell cameras and switches to those guys for nice caps. If you do Reilly's Rangers she pays good money for new locations you find. I think my first sale to her was for 3000 caps.

I don't get the Moira hate. She seems fine to me. A little socially impaired but otherwise fine.

This - without the sneaking. Already got jumped by Talon company very early - and in a place I've never been ambushed before! I was like YES!!! something new even after all these play throughs. So now I have my favorite armor, but still just a baseball bat. Need to head out to Moresti for a vampire sword. May go negative karma and travel with Jericho for a bit.

Also fingers, if you have the lawbringer perk. And one of the forts (constantine?) buys tech (energy weapons, power armor, etc)

I remember on the forums years ago she and three dog were two of the most hated characters. I didn't get it at all. I think the only characters I don't care for are the kids - and that's just a mild preference. But the threads on three dog and moira were pretty vicious.

I know someone who talks just like Moira... sounds condescending. Hate it.

Finished Operation Anchorage. Awesome fun quest. Tons of loot. Love the gaug rifle or wwhatever it's called. Loved the mini coup at the end to get more stuff. I just let them kill each other and took everything. Thank God for Fawkes. Guy could carry anything.

Yeah forgot about Fort Independence and trading with the Outcasts. I didn't do the finger thing.

Supposed to be one of the best melee weapons in the game. Vance is not very easy to pickpocket and since you aren't sneaking I am assuming the non-peaceful end to all that.

Just not meant to have a dog in this game. Dogmeat died yet again, this time charging into the Talon Co. hideout by the Arlington Library. That's right, since it is fresh in my mind, I am heading through the tunnels I #####ed about to find the cemetery and the Luck bobblehead. Got 1/2 way through my journey, and stayed ahead of Jericho so the ******* didn't bite it on some Mirelurks again. The first exit is the Mason dist. From what I remember, you wander around there and can get to Falls Church. We will see. My system froze after I got out of the metro system, so I took that as a sign to get some sleep.

- I can't believe how much stuff I missed before. I think I get impatient or want to kill more stuff so I didn't look around as much on other run throughs. Trying harder to look over everything for books, ammo, and meds now.

- The bloody mess perk is fantastic. Never bothered with that one before, and it's humorous watching a raider completely explode from 100yds away. Also my first time taking the Scrounger and Strong Back perks, and I am loving those too.

- I am curious about something: How much ### would I have kiss if I wanted to get back to even Neutral?. After blowing up Megaton, killing and stealing everything in site, I am at Very Evil now. Just wondering if I ever got bored of it or wanted to find one of the Neutral companions, if there are enough good Karma things to do to get my level back up. I am assuming I could take the Lawbringer perk, kill the slavers, save Big Town, etc.., but how much would I have to do?

There are several karmic perks. One to rebalance to neutral, one to go all good and one to go all evil but you seem to have that covered. But you don't really need to do that. You can make donations to churches to gain good karma, You can give people water. And as you mentioned do some of the quests the good way. But blowing up Megaton is the most negative thing you can do karma wise and it take something to come back from.

I leveled up last night to 21 in Operation Anchorage and I gave serious thought to the Bloody Mess perk but decided to go with Sniper again because head shots in this game are fantastic. Maybe at 22 I'll grab the bloody one. Gave some thought, as well, to the mysterious stranger one but with Fawkes at my side still it just feels like massive overkill.

And with Fawkes at my side I have to be careful now - once I hit 20 it didn't matter if he killed everything so I actually got into the habit of letting him do it because it didn't matter. Now I need to beat him to the front line so to speak. So my increase in XP is slowed up because of that. Can't bring myself to make him wait anywhere because his ability to carry stuff is such a massive perk. Doing Anchorage though was cool in that he wasn't with me so I got credit for everything. Which was nice. And stupid me - I start the first part of the mission where you need to take out the radar station, gas tanks and shield without seeing the quartermaster so I had to do it all with my fists and standing behind my assault team. That was interesting... and made me realize how boring a melee quest would really be in this game. The guns are so much more fun. Though I do now have the chinese officer plasma sword or whatever the hell it is. Might have to use that at least once.

Last play through I did was without companions at all. I know I can do it all alone and I just hit the level ceiling faster, so also not taking the 10% bonus xp perk any more

I never use followers. I generally like to sneak and followers just F that up. Major disadvantage for hauling stuff but I just can't play a sneak character and have my companions charging into every battle.

I can totally see that. Dogmeat died on me jumping into every fray, as did my first paladin - she was dumb as a box of rocks.

Having said that, I'm very much a bull in a china shop kinda guy with video games mostly. I'm ok with sneak oriented missions, but I really enjoy and need some walking into firefight type stuff as well. There was something a lot more satisfying to me last night, when the Chinese sniper was trying to shot me, to walk into his fire all John Woo style and take the Guag Rifle and just walk right into his personal space and unload his cranium from the rest of his body (granted, there was a health pack sitting there just waiting for me so I knew that going in).

Mirelurks??
I swear I have seen DM take on a Behemoth by himself while I was otherwise engaged and he is still with me. He was in a fight in a hall with two mutant masters, a couple of brutes and an overlord. I threw in a grenade not realizing he was in the middle of them. The only one to walk out was DM. I can not even imagine two mirelurks taking him out. Maybe I got a glitched one or something.
Must not have the DLC (Broken Steel I think?) Installed. One of them makes DM almost invincible. Otherwise hes pretty fragile.

I hate mirelurks, always run into them in caves. My preffered method is sneak forward spacing out mines on the floor. Vats shoot them in the face with a rifle of some sort, then run and let the mines cripple them while my Vats recharges, switch to combat shotgun or Terrible Shotgun if I have it by this point and blast them in the face again. If you cant get a face shot, you are screwed, their armor eats up ammo.

2nd worst would be Albino Radscorpions, they just chew through ammo to take them down and there is no weak spot I am aware of.

I think I am definitely playing again this weekend. Theres goes my productivity!

May try to be a bad guy this time, or at least neutral. Definitely wont take the 10% XP points perks anymore as someone said. It's too easy to level up if you are OCD like me and always cracking every safe, hacking every terminal, doing tons of side missions/exploring before advancing the main quest.

For money, I recommend putting lots of points into repair (would recommend anyway to repair your weapons.) High quality repaired weapons and armor are worth tons more caps than quantity. Also, just sell your loot like pistols, melee weapons, armor, etc instead of hoarding it at your house. That stuff accumulates fast and you end up scrolling thru 50 .32 caliber handguns to get the weapons you like out of your locker.

Dont worry, you can get Rex from The King in FO:NV

I've found fire is best for taking care of scorpions of all types.

Any easy ways to make some caps? I need to outfit my Megaton house
The Bethesda ruins are the best place I ever found to make caps. There are a bunch of raiders with weapons and armor that are decent to sell, and there's also a skill book which will keep respawning indefinitely.

So you clean out both buildings, and then go stand outside on the elevated bridge between the buildings. Do three 24-hour waits, plus an extra 1 hour wait, and then go back in and everything will have respawned. So you can just sit there and farm the two buildings endlessly.

I believe you can keep stuff in the outside container on the walkway, though the same 72 hour thing is in effect. If you leave that outside zone and don't return for 72 in game hours you'll lose the contents possibly as the zone resets and restocks the container. So you can jump back to Megaton and sell it off, then come right back for another load safely normally. But you can't dally or any items left will disappear. Remember that fast travel uses up time too.

The same thing works any location that respawns, just the rate of return for Bethesda ruins is higher than most areas.

sounds kinda tedious.

also, I always wonder about the first person that finds these things out.

sleep for 37 hours, take a rad-x and drink a nuka cola, shoot one raider in the head, run into the building and there will be a missle launcher.

don't know if programmers leak these or somehow a gamer figures them out.

I have all the DLC so maybe that's it. Favorite companion ever. Albino Radscorpions are tougher than Deathclaws IMO.

I was watching my BIL play the other day and he stumbled upon an albino and deathclaw fighting. The deathclaw hot beat down real fast. The scorpion didnt even take a single red square of damage.

I don't think I could do the melee thing consistently. Interesting though. Super Duper Mart would seem tough melee. I guess you hit the guy by the bathrooms on the left first. Although sneaking would be good.
Supposed to be one of the best melee weapons in the game. Vance is not very easy to pickpocket and since you aren't sneaking I am assuming the non-peaceful end to all that.
Could be wrong but I'm pretty sure it's locked up. He has a different weapon on him (the flamesaw thingy). But yeah, non-peaceful end to Moresti this time around - although I hate to lose a trading post. Non-peaceful ending to Arefu now that I think about it.
