TO can't remember Bill Parcells "championship speech" (1 Viewer)

Righetti

Footballguy
WR Terrell Owens (DAL) raised a few eyebrows when he said he tuned out Bill Parcells' speech about what the team needed to do in order to win a championship becuase Owens was thinking about his upcoming birthday party in Los Angeles. When asked about the speech, Owens laughed and said, ``The championship speech? I must have went to sleep on that one.''

``I can't remember. I had my mind on the party,'' he said when asked a second time about Monday's speech. ``I have no earthly idea of what you are possibly talking about. I don't remember. I was already in L.A. ... He'll have to redo it.''

the actual audio on this is priceless, there was more to it than just this. And whats up with these athletes making a huge deal about there own birthday, I swear they live on a different planet.

I'm convinced that he really is nuts.
I hope it didn't take this incident to convince you.I fail to understand how this guy continues to make friends among his teammates.Along Banger's lines, I am firmly convinced that, within 5 years of his football career being over, TO will either be in a mental hospital or will have successfully attempted suicide. The guy simply can not function anywhere in life except between the stripes of a football field. I fear what will happen to him once football's gone.Would you hire him to coach your WRs? Would you hire him to coach football to your children? What the heck could he possibly do around a football field if he isn't playing? He is a man in trouble without football to keep him focused.

oh good. the media ran out of things to print so they went back to the old standby. stick a microphone in front of this idiot's mouth and wait ten seconds. who cares.

He'll still need the limelight so really the only thing I can really see is that he'd bump that moron Michael Irvin off the set and take his spot. I'm sure ESPN will line up to take him on in some capacity.

You do realize that TO's already been through stuff may would say is tougher than playing football. He may alienate alot of people in the football community when he sticks his foot in his mouth, but I venture a guess he will be better off without spotlights and microphone being pointed in his direction. He'll be fine after football is done focusing on him...

 Hes never broken the law.

:lmao:Might be one of the best TO lines ever - you almost made it into my sig.

Funny.....no Shockey threads this week?

Did anyone hear some of his crap after the Giants/Cowboys game.

I agree that TO is pretty thick sometimes.....and has a huge yapper that needs to be shut. I am however, sick of the double standard.

 Hes never broken the law.
I am not talking about the law.He is a soul in trouble - a mind in trouble - a man in trouble - without football.
I wouldn't worry about it, he'll end up on some T.V. show as an "analyst."
I don't think so - not only is he a liability every time he opens his mouth, but who would hire him with his history?I think he'll end up on TeeVee though.as the middle square :bag:

No - I didn;t.This is apparently the day to blast athletes (see the McGahee thread - McG was in attendance at TO's party), so let's hear it.

c'mon if Irvin got a job and still has a job there will be 50 people offering TO a job. Irvin offers nothing except the moron point of view, gets arrested for smoking crack, etc. yet still is employed by the largest sports outfit in the world. It's really shocking to me.

Mark -You really do live for this stuff. I think you secretly like TO. ;) Seriously, I heard that TO has some kind of sleeping disorder where he can fall asleep in literally a second at times when he sits. It actually wouldn't surprise me. There are obviously some loose parts up there.Having said that, I'm sure Bill won't mind taking TO aside and spending some QT with him - he has been doing it all season long already.Think of Coach Parcells as the teacher in "Dead Poets Society". Carrrrpppppeeeee Diiiiiiiieeeeeeeemmmmmm TO. Caaaarrrrrrrrppppppeeeeeee Diiiiiiieeeeeeeemmmmmm.I think TO gets it.

I guess TO was getting jealous from all the press Romo was getting and felt the need to get some of the spotlight back.

:goodposting: Indeed, I think being a complete goof ball from planet lovetron has become a minimal requirement in becoming a football "analyst" sometimes. Nothing T.O. has done will hurt him when he wants to get on the other side of the microphone, and I think his "unique" personality will probably help him.

Marc -You really do live for this stuff.
 my dislike for TO's off the field conduct is legendary - stretches back to the year before he left the Niners and his "influence" on Kevan Barlow.
I think you secretly like TO. ;)
Now now, your fantasies are not mine. ;)

I was listening to Mike & Mike this morning, who played the sound bite from TO. In all seriousness, when I heard it, my first thought was.....Wow, that was a pretty good TO impersonation. It didn't even strike me that what he was being serious, I thought it was a spoof.

Whats with the Sacromento King owner giving TO a $50,000 dollar watch. I found that a little queer.
What was with the Patriots owner giving the president of Russia a championship ring? Money can't buy you love, but friends, it can buy you friends........Sacramento King Owner  TO

I'm not a TO fan in the least, but good God, I fade out in every meeting I attend. The difference is, I don't have a 10 million dollar bankroll to fall back on if my boss hears me say I wasn't listening.

Are all you still taking serious what TO says?

Look at his smirk. He's effing with the media and everyone that flips over every little thing he says.

He loves contoversy and loves to stir the pot. But he is most certainly not sincere the majority of the time...

And the HC will call his number 20 times this weekend so he wins the big game.I have no problem with TO if the HC says nothing....

I can't wait for when all the success goes to Romo's head and he tells TO to catch the ####### ball or get off the field....now that will be a story.

Uh Oh. TO said something again.......

ESPN is hyping it as saying he doesn't trust anyone in the cowboys locker room.........

Marc, I'm slowly starting to come over to your way of thinking - this guy just can't shut up. I'm interested to hear what was said in his interview with Irvin.

I agree with strong on what he says. He's messin with the media. BP is a big believer in leadership, and something like that would make him fly off the handle and cut him.

I can't believe an Eagle showed up at the party. The Freak has some 'splainin to do...

Do you have a link for the audio?

:goodposting: I completely agree. I was formerly in the psychology field, and have treated many clients that have similar problems. Once football is gone, he will still have to be the center of attention at all time. I have always felt that his problems with Garcia and McNabb have more to do with his need for attention than money or respect. There will definitely be more bizarre behavior in the future.

He'll be fine after football is done focusing on him...

He brings the attention to himself, not the other way around. And it is very obvious that he loves the camera. Some athletes are uncomforable with all the attention, but still have to live through it. TO lives FOR the attention.

Worst potst ever.

You can't believe the guy makes friends? Do you know anything about him? I get it, you beleive everything the media says and accept it as gospel. People need to a shot of reality here.

If I can parse through this to what you are saying, I believe the guy makes friends - I'm not stupid. I fail to understand HOW.There's a big difference. And I don't understand why anyone on a NEW team (the Cowboys) could respect him as a teammate after allowing something like that to be recorded and played publicly.Especially considering he is on a new team, he displayed a ridiculous 'tude during preseason, and he has now publicly disrespected his HC, how does he have the respect of his teammates? TO's biggest problem, IMO, is a lack of an internal filter - and an inability to say "that is private and I won;t talk about it."The guy lives for the camera and mike, so I think we have every right to criticize the public image portrayed. Talk about needing a dose of reality - public figures expect criticism based on their public image. To say we don't know him and can't discuss him is being an apologist in the extreme. That's like saying I can't criticize your posts because I only know your online persona.

It's easy for me to say this as a 'Skins fan of course, but I would love to see a close Cowboys loss this week with a lot of TO drops just to see what happens afterwards. :stirspot:

I like Parcells public reaction though.

Something about having to comment on what every guy on the practice squad thinks next. He doesn't really care.

:lmao:

:yes:I  Parcells. You can tell he really could care less about TO's head, what TO thinks, or how TO feels. If TO catches the passes on Sunday and runs the right routes, that's all he cares about. If you recall from two weeks or so before Parcells changed out Romo for Bledsoe, Parcells was highly critical after a bledsoe loss and he had to go back and look at the tapes to see if the QB made a bad throw or if "that receiver who wasn't in training camp" didn't know wher ehe was supposed to be in the route.TO's an awesome route runner, so that was clearly criticism directed @ TO. Since then, TOs been en fuego on the field. From Giants game to Giants game (good enough barometers, right?):47 catches on 74 passes - 63.5 %He's 57.5 % on the season.

What double standard would that be? Please explain.

I'm still waiting on a quote - or even a paraphrase- of what Shockey said this past week. Until I get that, I'll withhold criticism of the statement - it's not like Shockey is in a backwater town. NYC is known for blowing up the stupid stuff said by players.
