I think Olsen is really good. It’s a shame that Fox is probably going to replace him with Brady next year just because he’s Brady.

Olsen will get paid very well on the #2 team, that's because most people think he's good. I do too. He communicates the technical aspects of games succinctly for the average fan. I'm curious how Brady will do, as his interviews came across a little stiff and vanilla when he was a player, but now that he's not playing he might open up more. Announcers don't have much effect on ratings, but Brady could be an exception for the first few games.

Meanwhile, Romo continues to talk too much and use too much hyperbole.

SF has to blitz on this one Jim, they did and got burned. Romo wore me out last night, talked too much last night and his predictions every play are getting tiresome as he is wrong half the time,let the play speak for itself at times. My wife who just watched for entertainment and has no idea who Romo is said "that guy needs to shut up once in awhile.

the utter inability to just shut. the. ****. up. is insane. he can't help it.

Nantz is the closer. he has the sense for the moment. he knows how to treat it. let the moment be. let the crowd roar and the players celebrate. let fans at home scream and celebrate. nobody will care if the booth doesn't talk for a minute.

Romo treated it like that was his moment. not to make a classic SB call.. but his moment to.... break down a play like it was a test during his interview. he's almost preternaturally unaware of time, place and situation. he may literally not be able to prevent himself from doing it.

Couldn't agree more. That's where you shut up and let the moment and the roar of the crowd do the talking. Go back and watch the Chris Davis return to win the Alabama/Auburn game. "Auburn! Touchdown! An answered prayer!" And then neither announcer said for a word for nearly a minute while they let the moment breathe. Romo would have babbled on non-stop even at that one. He seems like a good guy all-around, but when it comes to announcing, he's like a child who doesn't how or when to shut it.

Yes, but it's unfair to put that on Romo. Leverage was like the new buzz word all year for announcers and coaches. Must have been a point of emphasis in off season coaching clinics last year

Harlan also had by far the best call of the Philly Special in Super Bowl 52. Michaels-Collinsworth was cringe and Philly radio play-by-play guy Merrill Reese misidentified who threw the pass.
