Top 5 Christmas Movies (1 Viewer)

Christmas Vacation

Elf

A Christmas Story

The Santa Clause

Lots of good options for the fifth on the list, but nothing that really belongs with those 4.

I'm also shocked I didn't see The Santa Clause mentioned anywhere in this thread yet. Maybe I'm just weird.

Home Alone

Christmas Vacation

A Christmas Story

Die Hard

Bad Santa

seems about right.
This one... perhaps swap Die Hard out for Elf.... Not for lack of John McClain... just not sure it's really a "Christmas Movie". Oh and nix Home alone for...well...anything.
:goodposting: not getting the Home Alone love at all
It's a great movie, came out when I was a kid, and now my kids love it as well. Its a good flick.
:goodposting: Maybe you had to be a kid when you first saw it or something, but c'mon, it features a kid pwning a couple of burglars by boobytrapping his entire house. What's not to love?
Daniel Stern is what keeps it as an "I won't turn the channel if it's on.""What happened?"

"I don't know who, but somebody just got blown away."

:lmao:

1. Polar Express

2. Christmas Vacation

3. The Santa Clause

4. Christmas with the Kranks

5. Four Christmases

1. A Charlie Brown Christmas

2. The Year Without a Santa Claus

3. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

4. Frosty the Snowman

1. Die Hard

2. Pocket Full of Miracles (rip Peter Falk)

3. Home Alone

4. A Charlie Brown Christmas

5. Christmas Vacation

Anybody remember the 8 Is Enough ep where a guy the youngest kid thought was Santa came in and stole all their gifts? That was funny as hell.

Just watched polar express for the first time. Weird movie. Not bad, visually stunning.....just weird.
Agreed. The hot chocolate scene is probably my 3.5 yr olds favorite movie scene. I have it favorited on YouTube and we watch it regularly.

Don't know if it's top 5, but me & the lady are excited to show our boys The Polar Express tonight. Can't wait to see how it look on Blu-ray.

Never realized Paul Giamatti was in something called Fred Clause.

What a money grab mail in. Why would an actor like that be in something like this?

I am sorry Trading Places (which is one of my all time favorite movies period) is not a Christmas movie.
On Comedy Central right now - great Christmas movie.

"Okay, pork belly prices have been dropping all morning, which means that everybody is waiting for it to hit rock bottom, so they can buy low. Which means that the people who own the pork belly contracts are saying, "Hey, we're losing all our damn money, and Christmas is around the corner, and I ain't gonna have no money to buy my son the G.I. Joe with the kung-fu grip! And my wife ain't gonna f... my wife ain't gonna make love to me if I got no money!" So they're panicking right now, they're screaming "SELL! SELL!" to get out before the price keeps dropping. They're panicking out there right now, I can feel it."

1. Christmas Vacation - this is actually my favorite comedy of all time, Christmas or non.

2. It's a Wonderful Life - the Christmas classic I have to watch every year

3. Elf - Hilarious for the whole family

4. How the Grinch Stole Christmas (1966 animated version) - my favorite as a kid and still enjoy it

5. Christmas Story - not little kid friendly, but a great movie

Honorable Mention to Home Alone....I could really put it in slot 4 or 5 depending on my mood.

ETA - Scrooged in with Home Alone as well. I personally probably would put it above Home Alone, but I'm a big Bill Murray fan.

Well....since it has been firmly established Trading Places is a Chrsitmas Movie.......

1) Trading Places

2) A Christmas Story

3) Christmas Vacation

4) Home Alone

5) Four Christmases

I really enjoyed 4 Christmases. Really hillarious and over time IMO will become a holiday classic. So many funny scenes in that one. Scrooged is awesome too. But I am finding Four Christmases to be quite funny these days.

My top three are set in stone.

We're pretty strict about what our kids (6 and 4) watch - never PG-13 - sometimes no PGs, and A Christmas Story has always been fine for me. Yeah, there's a couple of borderline spots like the fighting and bullying but that's about it.

1- It's a Wonderful Life

2- Christmas Vacation

3a- White Christmas 3b- Elf

4- Miracle on 34th Street (1947 Version)

5- A Christmas Carol (1951 Version)

Deck the Halls is a fun watch too, been growing on me for a couple years

1. Santa Claus Conquers the Martians - starring Pia Zadora. This is my must-watch movie every year.

2. Santa Claus (1959) - a Mexican movie where Santa lives in a cloud above the earth and kids are tempted by Satan to get on the Naughty List

3. Santa With Muscles - starring Hulk Hogan, Ed Begley, Jr and Mila Kunis

4. ALF's Christmas special

5. Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas
2013 rankings: 1. Santa Claus Conquers The Martians

2. White Christmas

3. Santa Claus (1959)

4. ALF'sChristmas Special

5. Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas
