Top Ten reasons Olindo Mare keeps missing (1 Viewer)

OK, actually only five reasons...

Olindo Mare no longer appears to be the answer to the Dolphins' kicking situation, however. Mare missed another critical field-goal attempt Sunday, this one sailing wide left from 42 yards out, and deflating his team. If Mare had connected, the Dolphins would have trailed by just a touchdown with nearly 18 minutes left in the game. He later made one from 42 yards, but by then Jacksonville had scored another touchdown and taken control. "You know, I should have made the kick," Mare said. "There's no doubt. There's no blame."

Yet while Mare kept insisting that he wasn't making excuses, he also kept referring to "different circumstances" he has encountered this season. Then he went about listing them.

In no particular order:

The dirt in Dolphin Stadium, while the Marlins were still playing.

That horrible field up at New England.

"Our average attempt is longer."

Fewer extra-point attempts early in the game, to get a rhythm.

Oh, and Sunday, the blustery wind, blowing the ball left on that side of the field.

"He hit it good, he just missed it to the left. He got plenty of leg on it. We have total faith, trust and confidence in that guy. He's a good kicker.''

- HC Nick Saban

If you go waaaaaaayyy back into his family lineage, back to the barn... turns out he's got a little "idiot kicker" genes??

"I don't know. There's a guy named Nick Saban you could ask. I've got three years left on my deal, and until they tell me don't show up . . . "

"It's a business. If they don't want me here, it will be obvious. If they didn't want me here, they wouldn't have brought me back or kept me. There's a word called speculation, and sometimes I think that's overused."

"It's been tough this season. It's been frustrating for a lot of people. I would do things over, for sure, if I could."
