Trade Deadline is 10/30/2012 (1 Viewer)

I am surprised about a couple things.1st - Why didn't Blount get moved? He is on a one year deal, isn't a 7th rounder with a 1 percent chance of getting a player than can help your team better than the 0 percent chance they have when he walks after this year? Tampa has looked better lately but they are 3 - 4 and still have to play Atlanta twice, the Broncos, and at the Saints. It will take 10 wins to get into the playoffs this year in the NFC I don't see them going 7 - 2 down the stretch, so it isn't like they are saving him for the playoffs in case Martin gets hurt or hits the rookie wall.2nd - The Packers, why didn't they go get a running back? Green has looked awful this year, and Benson is on the wrong side of 30 and coming back from a serious injury. Who is to say Benson comes back at all or even comes back at full strength? There were rumors of at least 4 running backs that were up for grabs, I can't believe that a team that has a legit shot to play for a Super Bowl can't afford to lose a 3rd - 7th round pick to take a flier on what seems to be a major hole.3rd - The Lions, are you fooking serious. Another receiver, don't you draft one in round one or two every year? Oh Nate Burelson went down my fault I must have forgot, oh wait didn't Titus Young, Ryan Broyles, and Tony Scheffler just step up the last two games in his absence? I guess when you are that good at all the other positions on the field you can spend on a guy that will be your 7th option on offense. Oh wait another one of your corners got put on IR today, Talib wouldn't have helped you at all and you could have had him for the same 5th round pick you spent on Thomas.4th - Bowe, this has so much fail in it I could write a novel about it. Do the Chiefs know they are 1 - 6? Do they know their quarterback is Brady Quinn? Do they know it would be stupid to franchise Bowe again? Can we get the guy that was in the commercial and painted their end zone as the Chefs to be general manager? He might have spelled the name wrong but at least it looked good. On the other side of this we have a few teams that are playoff contenders and needed a receiver in a bad way. Hello Minnesota, yes Percy Harvin is a beast, how nice would it be to have a running mate out there that could catch the ball, you are also in a tough division with teams that can score. Can we also add Houston to this party. How nice would Bowe look running around in a Texan uniform, well ask Arian Foster I bet he would love to see something other than an eight man front. I know I am going out on a limb here, but what if Andre Johnson gets hurt right about playoff time? You might as well put 9 guys in the box then because who is going to beat you with the receivers they have left?5th - Jacksonville, are you guys that hard up for fans that you have to bring back Tebow? I am not the biggest Gabbert fan in the world, but why are you giving up on him so early. You gave him nothing but MJD as a weapon last year, and this year MJD goes down and Gabbert is actually showing signs of life. Unlike most of the teams that didn't make a trade for someone because they want to keep their 5th round picks, you actually have a reason to keep those picks, you need young and able bodies on that team, you need as many lotto tickets for the draft as possible, because you aren't even close to the playoffs.
I think the guy I would have most liked to have seen in a new situation is Bowe. If only the Saints or Lions or Rams would reach out and trade for a guy like that, man.SJax and the Pack: well they don't trade draft picks and why mess with team chemistry in the middle of the year. Green was drafted himself just recently so don't go giving up on the guy, he's just getting started. The Jags & Tebow: Just say no and maybe they did. And by the way a team (Jets here) just ditching their backup QB after a season of planning and practice is no small thing. Even moreso when he comes in for special teams and specialized offensive packages. I am not sure why the press toyed around with this and there's no indication teh Jags were really trying to do this.Mike Thomas: they just signed Robiskie too and Thomas plays special teams. I think this move makes sense, why not? As for Talib, the Pats are famous for rehabbing "bad" actors like him, here's another one. Rogue players and the Lions do not mix and frankly they have enough of them already, I wouldn't recommend brining Talib into all that. Finally - the NFL just doesn't trade that much, so this whole trade deadline period has been typical.

Another year with little activity.
Don't blame the NFL - all the hype is fantasy leaguers wanting a NFL GM to save their season by making a trade.
I was blaming the NFL? No, I have been saying all along do not expect much activity because there rarely is much trade activity during the season in the NFL.
That was just a general statement not directed at your specific post - chill, baby.
Then don't quote baby.
You took your quote out of context

Lions me was made for KR BTW. If you saw Stefan Logan repeatedly fumble kicks you'd gives late pick for a real KR too (especially with burleson out)
I have seen it a lot, however Logan is still on the team last I knew, and if he isn't cut within 3 weeks than this is a stupid move and a waste of a roster spot. If he is cut then I will rethink the trade but until then this move was stupid.

I understand this, I want to know why. If winning is the goal and each new year is filled with parity, then why would you not go for it when you have a realistic chance. All the Gms, and coaches have a better feel for their teams in the present then they will next year. It almost seems like a GM needs to buck the trend of not dealing at the deadline and hit some homeruns to loosen the rest of the league up.

It's downright criminal the stupidity with which the Panthers have approached the whole DeAngelo situation.
The contract was dumb, but I'm not sure what this has to do with the trade deadline. I think it's pretty clear that they were willing to trade him, but no one was going to take on the contract. In fact, Carolina (at least from what the beat writers said) would have preferred to trade him because they could take the full cap hit this season, which would give them more money to play with next year.
