Transgender boy Mack Beggs wins Texas state girls' wrestling title (1 Viewer)

For the record, I'm quite liberal. I have no problem with gay marriage or transsexuals. Voted for Obama twice and I hate Trump with a passion. My stance on this is totally from the viewpoint of my athletics days and my being an athlete's parent days. The humongous advantage this guy had from having more than 10-times the testosterone in his system then his competitors is truly against the spirit of high school athletics. Rules clearly have to be changed. But on a personal level, I hope this person has a great life as a male. I wish him the best.
So you're saying you're not Hitler?

Not Adolph.  I'm more like his nephew Vinnie Hitler
Vinnie was always having Adolph thrown in his face by folks.  I am not sure he ever really learned to live with it.  I understand he eventually changed his name, moved to Guadalajara and started a fairly popular Mariachi Boy Band

I don't care to read 16 pages. I thought Texas had some level of drug testing, how would this pass their testing parameters?

girls who felt like they were guys used to be just called tomboys. now they're transgendered I guess. I don't see why we should have to re-write all of our laws based on the microscopic percentage of people affected (NYT says 0.3 percent of the population identifies as trans).

This is a very different concept.

Also, latest estimates put the number at .6%, or about 1.4 million Americans.

I'm not sure why you say that.  Jenner' bone structure, etc are decidedly influenced by not having transitioned at a young age.
Lighten up Francis.  It was a joke.

Nope. Nice try though. My opinions have been formed over the many years since then.
Your opinions may have been formed in the years since then, but one suspects your attitudes regarding those that are different than the norm have not.

We're talking about a girl jacked up on testosterone wrestling other girls. I'm pretty sure my opinions on that would have been the same in high school as well.

I also may have had that opinion in high school.  Of course, I was a complete dip#### in high school.

Yes, you probably did have same degree of tolerance now as you did in high school.

Why?  He wants to wrestle boys. What girls are taking testosterone?
Sometimes in life you have to make decisions. You can't always have your cake and eat it too. You want to take the T? Don't wrestle.

That was how I felt last yr. The fact that this person signed up to wrestle girls again this yr is worse imo

I'm glad you pointed out that this is a decision. This student could easily wrestle with club teams and isn't forced to wrestle girls as he's claiming. Tons of athletes don't play for their school.

I don’t disagree, but it seems like everyone is saying they want the laws to change so that he can wrestle with the boys. That’s what the article alluded to. I just don’t understand why that’s necessary.  The wrestling association can make some changes I would think and everyone would be ok.

Can’t the wrestling association just make testosterone a banned substance for women’s wrestling?
Probably not if prescribed by a doctor.  Not without opening a whole big can of worms regarding banning substances for teenagers that have been prescribed for medical conditions.

Ok.  They should let him wrestle against boys.  He signed up to wrestle.  They told him which line he had to get in.
Ok. The rules weren't changed after the first year that this happened. Sucks.

Choose to let the girls of your state compete for a state title without having to wrestle a dude

Really no great solution here. I just wish his mom and him would own that it is a huge advantage instead of the BS about technique and heart.
