Tush Push - Do the rules apply for this play or not? Doesn't seem like it (6 Viewers)

NFL needs ball location technology if these scrums are going to be allowed.
That they don't have GPS or similar in the ball, regardless of whether this play existed or not, continues to baffle me
never understood the GPS argument. First, it would hafta be accurate to within an inch to have meaning (which is absurd from space...which is literally what GPS is). Second, how the F is GPS supposed to know when the players knee, or shin, or elbow, or (insert other body parts) is down?

The GPS argument makes no sense to me

I don't care what they call it, as long as the ref signals first down or TD when bodies are getting up off the turf.

And the fact they're now attaching a name to it with a Phillly connotation tells you its viewed as an Eagles play - one they're very successful at, so sure let's ban it.
Philly Special
Brotherly Shove

Keep adding to the lore.
How bout we call it Philly Cream Cheese in honor of Philly fan reaction and the validity of the play itself?

Brotherly Shove....unbelievable.

Saw a ""push the tush" play in a HS game Friday night. Some in the crowd were chanting "Push the tush" everyone was laughing.

That's why I say "or similar"

Brian Daboll says John Michael Schmitz and Daniel Bellinger were both injured on the fourth-and-1 "brotherly shove" QB sneak play in the first quarter. Failed in more ways than one. #NYGiants

DIdn't they line up like 2 offensive lineman behind the QB on their attempt? Giants are Giant losers at everything it seems.
Daboll also said they never practiced the play live, only walk-throughs.

Other then Taylor Swift, discussions of if this play should be legal has been the most annoying thing for me to get through when I scroll my twitter timeline for NFL news.

I'm not reading through any comments here. Don't care or understand this. It's only unstoppable for Philly because their QB squats 600 pounds.

2022 Coach of the Year. Doesn't actually practice plays they intend to run, with a backup offensive line where the offensive line is the key to the play.

So glad we play these guys 2 of the last 3 games this season with Gannon's Cards wedged between.

Plot twist: They're faking the injuries so they can get the play banned next year.

Saw a ""push the tush" play in a HS game Friday night. Some in the crowd were chanting "Push the tush" everyone was laughing.
Saw the same thing last night at a JV game. Mass of bodies at odd angles as others pushed. Thankfully everyone got up afterward.

So stupid. Two players injured on one Tush Push play? Get rid of this nonsense.

HS they can push the blockers, but not the runner. We called a helping the runner last Friday night.
Of my four HS games this season, we have called the penalty twice.
The previous 20 years, probably called twice.

Schmitz was limping to the line of scrimmage before that play.

Are people actually using the "Giants players that limped to the line of scrimmage and got hurt on a play they had never practiced live, and didn't even do correctly" as a "I told you it was dangerous!" angle?

If we've really reached that level, that is really sad

The fact that every other team in the league isn't running it shows it's fine. Eagles o-line is amazing that's why it works.

Might as well ban Randy Moss from running deep.
actually its conservation of momentum. the increased mass of the pushers plus the tush is why it works and why it should not be legal.

Justin Fields must squat 600 lbs to get that Tush Push 1st down mid 1st quarter.

Also, loved how the two officials each had the play marked vastly different (a yard+ difference). One was a 1st down, one had it short. 1st down!! 😴

Yeah...officials don't stand a chance with that mass of humanity around the ball.

Haven’t seen one player get injured during the eagles games during this play. Quit crying

@brettdj , do your high schools use Interscholastic or NCAA rules? Was wondering if the rules regard pushing were similar in both rule sets.

How is it worse than any other typical short-yardage play? If there was no pushing, would it be any better?

Another one for the Commanders. Well done, brilliant!!
This cannot be true

I’ve read over and over on this board that “Only the eagles can make this work because THEYRE THE BEST AT EVERYTHING!!!”
Show me this exact quote by anyone. There is no one saying "Only the Eagles can execute it"

Its us saying we execute it better than literally the rest of the entire league. There were 3 examples of this failing miserably last Sunday and the Giants crap attempt on Thursday.

Yup, good for Fields he was successful a few times last night  . I'd love to see the success rate of the Eagles vs. the rest of the league.

Bears fans - how happy were you to see the first down signal vs. a punt formation?
