That club absorbed a nice chuck of the ODP Region 3 talent that won the national tournament and had a great showing in Italy. That team compromised of 16 year olds was technically better that most college teams I've seen. I'm not going to say they would beaten most college teams as the long ball is very effective when you are physically bigger and faster.I was just looking at Brad Friedels roster for an upcoming tournament for his U19 squad and I think he picked 6 players (out of 22) from FC Dallas's academy system.
nice to see the regional thing is still the same. my college coach was the u19 eastern regional coach and we had a bunch of guys from that team, most of whom were from NY (his home state)... as a western regional guy, I wasn't so impressed with a bunch of them. the NJ kids, otoh. That club absorbed a nice chuck of the ODP Region 3 talent that won the national tournament and had a great showing in Italy. Of course the flip side is that the next year the NC team won the Regional tournament and defeated one Texas while tying the other in doing so. Only one NC kid was selected for holdover camp while 12 or so were selected from Texas. The Regional team coach was from Texas.
If you can beat them by beating them, join them.nice to see the regional thing is still the same. my college coach was the u19 eastern regional coach and we had a bunch of guys from that team, most of whom were from NY (his home state)... as a western regional guy, I wasn't so impressed with a bunch of them. the NJ kids, otoh.
I actually think this will help him get called up. JK: "this Shea fella is a decent midfielder. Let's try him at LB"So in Jason Kries's first game he made an interesting change. Orlando beat Stoke on Thursday 2-1 and he clearly decided the "Shea at LB" experiment was over, returning him to his normal attacking role that he had when he was younger.
This is one of those strange moves that will likely help Shea at club level but hurt his chances at the international level since the competition at the wide attacking spots is so much higher than at LB, where my grand mother might get capped soon.
Shea seems happy about the change:
“He let me know he wants me to play there and I am really excited about that,” he insisted. “Hopefully we can get back to how I used to be and play like that."
so trueI actually think this will help him get called up. JK: "this Shea fella is a decent midfielder. Let's try him at LB"
I don't think he's played much if at all so far. I am a preseason snob though, and really don't watch much or pay that much attention. There is plenty of time for loans to be made and Chelsea has at least a dozen players, maybe twice that, for whom they need to find good loan destinations. The only slight chance he'll stick around, which most likely would not be good for him, is if they can't find a good CB to buy in the next few weeks. Zouma is still hurt. Terry and Cahill are not good enough, Kalas and Christensen both loaned out already. If he doesn't go to Vitesse, I could see hm in Germany.@CletiusMaximusCan you give any update on Miazga? I see he is on the roster, is he getting any minutes in the friendlies for Chelsea?
In past your past experience, when could we expect an announcement for a loan if one is to come?
Wrong thread.People are being crazy. Connor wouldn't stand a chance against Woodley.
I think with Conte being with Italy for so long this summer, he is probably behind the 8 ball in evaluating the top talent, much less getting a chance to evaluate the lower level talent like Miazga.Re, mazda... I get CMs sentiment re preseason. But given that, isnt NOW the time he should be seeing a bit of PT.that he isnt tells me that hes either hurt or so far off the game that theyre not even interested in him.
good point about the new coach, andy.I think with Conte being with Italy for so long this summer, he is probably behind the 8 ball in evaluating the top talent, much less getting a chance to evaluate the lower level talent like Miazga.
In a normal situation where the coach knows his team very well and is just determining the differences from last season to this season, the coach probably gets more chances to look further down the roster.
That being said, Miazga not even getting 1 minute in a meaningless friendly game in America is a bit concerning. Most teams that come over for friendlies who have American's on them usually find time for them in these games if for nothing more just general PR.
Charlie Davies has not played for the Revs since April. It was said he was carrying an abductor strain injury.
Yesterday it came out that he was diagnosed for cancer and has been in treatments. He tweeted yesterday that he has beaten it (it is in remission) and is happy to be training with the team again.
He has had a rough spring. On top of the cancer he and his wife had twins born 3 months premature.El Floppo said:![]()
oh come on. damn.. that is some terrible luck. really glad to hear it's in remission and hope he keeps up the fight- looking forward to seeing him play soon.
Job has nothing on this guy.NewlyRetired said:Charlie Davies has not played for the Revs since April. It was said he was carrying an abductor strain injury.

Recognized at young age as a good prospect, playing in BMs youth setup. Had the option to play for US or Germany and chose the US, probably as a result of a prid quo pro with Klinsmann that saw him taken to the World Cup in 2014. Didn't see much time but scored a fluky mi#### goal vs Belgium to get the US back into it in extra time after they'd gone down 2-0.shader said:What's the history with Green? I don't sense much excitement from people on this guy even though he just scored a hat trick for one of the top 3 teams in the world. (Yes I know preseason)
Still not buying it. Obviously love to be wrong, but if it seems too good to be true, it's usually too good to be true.NewlyRetired said:it looks like he should make the roster and probably get spot minutes as a sub and maybe good minutes in Cup games.
I am of the opinion him staying at Bayern is not a case of too good to be true. I think it actually will hurt his development. I would much rather see him get sold to a mid table type BL team or a top BL2 team, in which minutes might be easier to come by.Still not buying it. Obviously love to be wrong, but if it seems too good to be true, it's usually too good to be true.
I am convinced Obie was simply made of glass. A gust of wind would see him out for weeks.Job has nothing on this guy.
Lol. Whoops. Funny part was I was just drunk fishing the Connor fan boys.NewlyRetired said:Wrong thread.
I think he was comparing him to the biblical Job.I am convinced Obie was simply made of glass. A gust of wind would see him out for weeks.![]()
Holden might be a better comparison in both his never ending serious issues and his incredible positivity in the face what seemed from the outside dire circumstances.
I think he was comparing him to the biblical Job.

for the first time in forever, Zardes is not in the LA 18. He is healthy from what I can tell.
Searching on Zardes on twitter brings up a ton of very recent (with in the last 30 minutes) tweets from Turkey which looks to be some sort of transfer news/speculation (can't tell for sure from the lanaguge but they are clearly referencing Zardes and Galaxy/LA.)
He just came back from a long injury (the same injury that kept him out of the Copa). I think this was his second game back.why is Jozy only subbing?
This seems to be a repeating story but it looks like Bedoya is close to moving to Philly, again.

Of course they are. Why would the FIRE! want Bedoya?Mixed feelings about this. I like that Bedoya is in a UCL league and gets tons of minutes, but I hate that Ligue1 is the one league not regularly on American TV so we can't see how he's performing at the club level. I wish he'd get a move to the EPL, but I just don't see that happening. This seems to be a repeating story but it looks like Bedoya is close to moving to Philly, again.
