US Men's National Team (11 Viewers)

My guess is they call Sands in to replace (assuming too late for Miazga) . That's not TRAGIC. On the bright side, it almost certainly means Richards starts multiple games.

I don't think we miss Brooks as much in qualifying as we would potentially miss him in Qatar given the style of play differences.

Really hoping we get to see a lot of Richards.

After playing one game for the United States, defender Julián Araujo has been cleared to change his national eligibility to Mexico, FIFA said Monday.

The 20-year-old LA Galaxy defender made his debut for the U.S. last December, starting at right back in a 6-0 win over El Salvador.

Araujo, who is from Lompoc, California, previously represented the U.S. at age-group levels through the Under-23 team.

In March, he played for the U.S. U-23 team against Mexico in a Tokyo Olympics qualification game. Mexico won 1-0 and eventually advanced to Tokyo, getting a bronze medal.

As a dual national with Mexican family ties, Araujo was eligible within FIFA’s rules to switch national teams and was yet to play a competitive game for the U.S. senior team.

Mexico faces the U.S. in their 2022 World Cup qualification group on Nov. 12 in Cincinnati.

There's no reason not to beat Jamaica at home.

Other than the reggae boyz are going to want to get a point at least. and the US has shown repeatedly they aren't going to dominate the game tactically, so points are there for the taking- especially when they have guys up front like Antonio who can punish anybody if they let him.

Presumably you play your best tactical/11 against Jamaica no matter what (of course I assumed this with El Salvador as well and Ream started). 

 
There is something to be said for when two players are relatively equal in quality, that having familiarity with the program would give a leg up for one of them.

But when that familiarity is literally the only positive a player has vs another player who is holding his own against Bayern Munich on his debut, it just makes so little sense.

Ironic that the US is the youngest team in the world in this up coming qualifying window and the first two players we lose from the roster are Ream and Brooks.

I'm already dreading some weird setup/lineup against CR once Swag, Adams, and Yedlin pick up yellows in Panama and Moore has to come in the 60th minute once Dest is gassed (that's the 3 points from this group of games result).  GGG simply isn't playing out the scenarios for the 3 game set well.  A bad Panama match, has the distinct possibility of getting a result against CR that much harder (GGG doesn't seem to realize with the compressed schedule, travel, cards, etc...that individual games are much more path dependent than at the club level).  

Doyle was pushing back some on Twitter today saying Sands (whoever else) could be available for CR anyway, but that discounts a lack of training in my eyes.

538's SPI for each Ocho team.  Definitely more accurate than FIFA's rankings in terms of predictive value.  And generally in line with other power ratings you can find.

As in past years, there's a big gap between the top three in the federation and everyone else, but with Canada replacing Costa Rica.

Feel bad for Costa Rica, having visited there, the National Team means so much to them and is such a great source of National pride...I hope they find their way back.
