US Men's National Team (17 Viewers)

Vines broke his tibia and is out of the WC.
i guess Scally or Shaq Moore goes now

With Dest still hurt, this is getting concerning. I figured Dest and Vines were the 2nd and 3rd choice replacements for Jedi. Scally makes by far the most sense to take now.
I also think it's another argument in favor of Ream at CB (who I already think should be in the team). It wouldn't be ideal, but Ream can play a no-nonsense defense first LB.

I think Ream should be on the team as well.

At least we know he is on the radar as GGG mentioned yesterday that from Zimm, Long, Ream, CCV, EPB and McKenzie, he was going to get his 4 CB's.

I was already on record thinking Jedi was going to play 270 minutes if healthy, and these injuries only help confirm that thought.

Although I've said that i"m not that excited for the World Cup, at least Reyna is fully fit so that I can enjoy his full array of contemptuous glares at his teammates when the US is down one in a must-win game against Iran.

Given how dependent we are on the fullbacks for width, I think that would be a disaster. He should be on the roster because he should be on the roster, but we should take an actual left back.

Tolkin is the 2nd best US eligible left back and has been for over a year despite continually being ignored. But he's been in this US MLS camp the last few weeks so maybe.....

I think Tolkin was only in the camp because he was a part of the U20 team, not a part of the MLS guys that were on the radar of a WC call up. Though hopefully he caught GGG's eye at least.

Yeah, the rumor has been that Shaq Moore has played LB for the "senior" team in training. And Tolkin has played for the U20 training team (despite being ineligible for the actual U20 side). So it's likely Moore but we can always hope.

Based on his performance today against Man City, Tim Ream deserves to be on the plane to Qatar.

Also, wouldn't have minded if Jedi stomped DeBruyne's ankle while he was on the ground.

I have been critical of Adams but he is playing the best soccer of his career.

If Adams and Aaronson can translate this amazing energy to the WC, our chances of advancing are going to be higher.

As ugly as this season has been for Leeds they are now in 12th and 3 teams below them have played 1 more game. Should be enough even with a loss to Spurs next week to get Jesse to boxing day

Robinson murdered DeBruyne and his whole family in the box in stoppage time just now to concede the game winning PK against ManCity.

Murdered??? I thought is was a bogus call and a flop. May have to watch it again but Robinson's foot was down first and in a more natural position that DeBruyne's.

Dunno. Looked like they were going to have to Med-Evac Kev out of there for a minute. Or at least bring a Q-tip with a dab of shoe polish out there to clean the microscopic scuff Robinson may have left on his heel.

As someone who doesn't really watch MLS, I'm more than a little surprised that both Bale and Pax Aaronson (is he not a starter?) are still not in this game.

He's only had 432 minutes this season. Lot of hype but not yet breaking through (tbf, Philly is really good so tough side to break into).

Bale has been a late game sub for most of the year I think. Pax was mostly a squad support player. Both teams are fairly deep though.

Bale came through in the clutch though. I don't know if he can go 90 minutes against the US but I don't want him running at Long for even 60.

I was very impressed that Cherundolo had no issues sitting both Bale and Chiellini for much of the season.

That fortitude might be useful in our next coach as we don't want the current group to just think they will automatic regulars next cycle. We have plenty of talent coming up they we hope can push for spots.

Happy to see Turner on the bench.

Less happy to see Pulisic on the bench.

We are so close to the WC, that having Pulisic healthy is more important than PT.

Chelsea continuing to struggle offensively may help him in the future (assuming they don't by 4 more wingers over the winter break)

Pepi got an assist today as Groningen lost to Utrecht. Interesting thing to me is kind of a forgotten player - Taylor Booth - scored for Utrecht in this game. He was also named the FotMob MOTM. He's still only 21 and joined Utrecht on a free this summer. May be one to keep an eye on for next cycle.

He got his first start recently (3 weeks ago I think) and had 2 assists. He seems to be settling in well.
