Played. I don't want someone camping in front of the keeper when the ball is at midfield.

But if you've already made it into the 18, I don't think offside trapping you should be an option anymore

I don't think the % of total offside would be effected a great deal but it makes too much sense not to do.

Although from what little reading I have done, this does not appear to be part of the new change.

ok I found some more details on the testing. I am unsure what they mean "across Italy and Netherlands" but if that includes the top divisions, this is going to be a big test. I assume it is this year?

I would not worry too much about it. Given the speed at which FIFA moves we probably won't see the changes (what ever they end up being) for a long while.

Wegner's original goal was to have them all in place by WC2022, and they still have not even started to test yet.

So easy for the average Joe to understand. As for feet on the ground, that's the HARDEST thing to judge. I would almost say ignore feet on the ground with the new rule.

I don't think this lowers the use of VAR IMO, we will still have it in use a lot but I think it does, finally, give an advantage to offense in a sport that has always favored the defense

My favorite part is that with more scoring, ref PK calls become less important as the value of a goal is reduced.

This is perfect.

There will still be VAR at the highest levels of the game because of the stakes but at all other levels, the ability of the AR's to make the correct call is going to sky rocket. And while it will give some MUCH needed advantages to attackers, the sport is SO heavily leaned towards the defense, I don't expect it will make too much of a difference. I could see total goals go up by .5 to 1 a game (after defenders and tactics adjust to it), but that would be very welcomed.

There is a possible negative here in that it may cause weaker teams to bunker even harder to make sure they are always behind the ball. But I guess that happens already as is.

I can only speak to my state but ar are not used in most towns until college. I reffed high school soccer for about 12 years. A single referee used until Jv level then 2 refs for jv and varsity.

That's what I was thinking as well. If the quoted number is net of taxes, he's done pretty well here. I mean, its fantastic for him to go to a club like Milan in any case, but that's not too much of a drop in salary if its a net number.

Pulisic seems like the least "flashy" guy ever in terms of spending money. Also, he has no kids, no wife, no partner that we know of. I think he has a nice car and that is about it.

I would bet he has saved a ton of his huge wages to date and can now smartly pick and choose where to play with out worrying about getting top dollar salary any more.

I would hope he has one more try in Europe. There has to be mid level teams in the big leagues he could help. He does appear to play much better for the US than at club for what ever reason.

He's got two years left on a pretty nice contract. He's in a very difficult situation but Barca is right there with him so hopefully they can work something out.
