Good read on Reynolds
It'll be interesting to see where he ends up. Looks like West Ham are showing interest.

He, Vasquez, Sands and Jones are probably my top four who helped themselves in this tournament. Reynolds got cooked a couple times last night, but overall he's been better than solid IMO.Good read on Reynolds
Agree, mostly, but I'd add Mihailovic and/or Cowell over Sands. He, Vasquez, Sands and Jones are probably my top four who helped themselves in this tournament. Reynolds got cooked a couple times last night, but overall he's been better than solid IMO.Good read on Reynolds
Can't really argue with any of that. Agree with all.ok so 4 games in, lets take a litmus test.
Remove Miles and Turner from the group, since they are part of the main core.
Who has shown enough to be in the discussion for the top squad?
1) LB - it is a black hole at back up natural LB. Jones is competing with Vines, and Bello for the natural LB back up slot and also the fact that both Dest and Scally can play on the left (similar to Jones it is not their natural spot but both of them would be ahead of Jones). I think Jones is going to be on the cusp but I am unsure he cracks a 23.
2) RB - If we are set at a roster size of 23, and GGG has broken his habit of rostering 4-5 RB's, Reynolds is going to be slightly on the outside looking in, but any injury or suspension could open up a chance for him, especially if he can have a good Euro season.
3) CB's - I don't think Miazga, Neal or Long have come any where close to cracking a top 23 (CCV, McKenzie, Robinson, Zimm, and Richards are 5 easy better choices). These guys would be competing with EPB in the next tier. Neal is not an issue since he is not ready for this cycle any way. He can grow and develop at his own speed.
4) DM's - We really could use an obvious like for like for Adams but it does not exist. Busio is inconsistent, Morris was a disappointment and left camp for personal reasons. Sands does not really have a bite to his game. I don't like anyone in this group for the best 23 right now.
5) AM's/8 - Milhailovic is the only one who has shown a bit. The poor game against Canada hurts though. I can't see him cracking the 23 right now, but he is very likely to start the remaining games and could make a big impression.
6) The Wings - Dear god. Cowell is the only one who merits any discussion. The question of whether he is better right now than Aaronson has to wait until we see what Aaronson looks like (and where he plays) for Berlin. Cowell is clearly raw but he has the look of a player who could pop in the next 18 or so months.
7) Striker - In no way am I rostering the pirate over Balogun or Pepi right now. I am not even sure he should be starting ahead of Vasquez to be honest. If we go with 3 strikers in the 23 (which is unlikely), I would also prefer Sargent. Jesus has a huge chance though to put a hole in the theory that he only scores against the minnows from the sea by having 2 big games against Panama and in the final against Mex/Jam.

Ream is the best of the 5 easy better choices.ok so 4 games in, lets take a litmus test.

I don't disagree with anything either. I do feel like Neal could be pretty good, I've liked what I've seen from him at such a young age. He's not ready yet, but not far off.ok so 4 games in, lets take a litmus test.

Goodness. Do they need Miles Robinson as well? Or some other USMNT CB? Can you imagine?Dest - Crystal Palace and Fulham rumors (Fulham would be fascinating as we could have 3 of our starters in the same club teams defense)

Lol... So that was my news feed rumor before getting in the plane for home. Just landed, and latest news feed rumor is Barca wanting to kick the tires again... Mostly because they're super thin at RBDest - Crystal Palace and Fulham rumors
Canada is Honduras of the North. The most Concaffy team I have seen in a while. The raw stats read like the US won the game by 4 goals instead of barely getting through to the PK's.
US-CA
67-33 possession
21-5 shots
0-7 saves
13-3 corners
And rightfully so. Landon is just jealous he’s not even half as good as CP and quite Frankly Duece was better as well. Landon just can’t be happy for anyone having better success then him
Talent-wise? Donovan was every bit as talented as CP. Hell, he had teams like Bayern looking at him as a youth. He was just a mental midget and couldn't handle Europe's style of cut throat football where your teammates are doing their best to take your job rather than push you forward. He's still a mental midget and that's why he doesn't understand CP's desire to get back to the top of Euro football. And rightfully so. Nah...just advance scouting for their piss bags. The Gold Cup continues to do massive numbers on TV.
The US Canada game was the most watched sporting event on US tv this weekend. It drew a combined 3.7m viewers across Univision and FS1
Even more interesting, the US is drawing equivalent numbers to Mexico on Univision. That has never happened before. I assume some of this is due to Mexican fans being so unhappy with their team but I also like to dream that maybe, just maybe the US is starting to crack the Mexican American demographic to at least be the second favorite team.
Nice to see, but damn are we ever in a sports blackout zone right nowThe Gold Cup continues to do massive numbers on TV.

I would agree, but he looks like a liability on D. I think his marking is poor and positioning is worse. He also make some boneheaded passes in back 3rd that are asking to be giveaways. I don't rate his game to do well against better competition.Only thing I would add is, with Jones, not sure how he's been defensively, but his crosses and centers going forward have been as good as anyone on the US lately, A-squad included. That's not saying a lot because that hasn't exactly been one of our strengths, but it's been nice to see some balls go into the box that are actually threatening and not just "eh, I don't really know what else to do right now, so I'll just kind of weakly lob it in there into an unthreatening spot".
Both are true I think. USMNT is better and deeper than MEX right now. Whether this B/C team can beat Mexico's A/B team is another story. Respect for the USMNT in the Latin-American community has been growing steadily.I assume some of this is due to Mexican fans being so unhappy with their team but I also like to dream that maybe, just maybe the US is starting to crack the Mexican American demographic to at least be the second favorite team.

I wonder how many kids are into the NFL now.
Most jerseys I see kids wearing are from soccer.

In-game attendance for baseball is still higher than any year prior to 1993 and is back to pre-COVID levels. And games are 31 minutes shorter than they were two years ago. I think it's mostly a TV problem (which I know is your wheelhouse)?
Baseballs financial strength will continue to be game day revenue. The unmatched number of games they have per season really adds up.In-game attendance for baseball is still higher than any year prior to 1993 and is back to pre-COVID levels. Yeah I would say those are two separate things. No one in my family cares about baseball other than me, but they all love going to baseball games.
2007 had the peak for MLB attendance, both average (32,696) and total attendance (79,484,718). This was over their entire history.In-game attendance for baseball is still higher than any year prior to 1993 and is back to pre-COVID levels.
Have to say I'm a very casual baseball fan. Went to a game this year in StL. It was over in 2.5 hours and there was even an overturned play at the plate which resulted in a Cards run. It was damn enjoyable for a Tuesday night in July. Also going to a Rockies game later this month. But I can't remember the last time I watched a baseball game on TV.In-game attendance for baseball is still higher than any year prior to 1993 and is back to pre-COVID levels. Back over 28k so far this year.bottoming out just last year with 26,565
That happened like 10 years ago. MLS over NHL is already present in a lot of places, but not across the US (yet). I think Messi may push it over. While MLS still has a ways to go to jump the NHL, I feel strongly now that soccer as a whole is significantly more popular than hockey as a whole in the US.
yup, the rule changes appear to have had the intended effect. Hopefully they can use this momentum to grow going forward.Back over 28k so far this year.bottoming out just last year with 26,565
But getting back to what games were like when I was a kid is a big deal. I might actually watch the playoffs this year if it holds.
Sands almost immediately getting the backup 6 spot back from Morris is kind of the surprise of the tournament for me. So I think he probably has a sniff, depending on whether Gregg wants the flexibility of keeping a dedicated six or whether he'd just double pivot with the guys he's more comfortable with.ok so 4 games in, lets take a litmus test.

I'm kind of torn. I suppose the genie is already out of the bottle and we're just going to have a certain AC Milan superfan in this thread now. But this would seem to be asking for it a bit too much for my taste.![]()

oh can you imagine the twitter carnage if Jesus goes to PSV, sits behind Pepi and then GGG picks Jesus instead?whether Jesus gets a European move (rumors are that PSV is interested in him too).

and aren't we 15 years past any interest in a Captain America moniker? Is there so little imagination?Interesting commentary from The Athletic. I feel like any decent fan could have told Chelsea that Pulisic was not going to be media friendly.
