US Men's National Team (23 Viewers)

Another nice assist from Jedi today
He was probably the best player on the field in that game. He stood out repeatedly for his athleticism in defense and was an absolute terror going forward -- especially in the first half. If I hadn't known who he was I'd have been looking to see who he was.

Does anyone really find it surprising that the blonde hair has literally turned Jedi into a mix of Marcelo and Maldini?

2024 Player Ballot Results for the US Soccer Hall of Fame

Shocked Howard wasn't unanimous. Would love to hear what those who left him off were thinking.

Also shocked that Beckerman didn't make it. Suspect he will in the future, but thought he deserved it. Also surprised at how low Jermaine Jones is... I'm guessing since it's a National Hall of Fame that him playing most of his career in Europe hurts the numbers. Still should be higher than he was just on the USMNT contribution IMO.

Ok... Who is Declan Firth?

21yo English Villa wing who moved to Valencia, and still waiting on 1st team minutes. He applied for a US passport (US grandma)... GGG has been recruiting him. Sounds like they'll track his progress for Se team, but he could play a role in the U23 for Olympics...

Anybody know more about him?

Comments on Twitter/X from Hodgson on Richards playing midfield. More detailed quotes in picture within the tweet.

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson talked about Chris Richards ahead of today's game vs. Bournemouth. The decision to play him as a midfielder against West Ham was a very late decision, not preplanned. Richards filled in due to injury. Hodgson was pleased

Every day I hear a name I have never heard before. It is getting overwhelming to track every one.

Richards, Ream, Jedi and Trusty all starting.

Root hard for Fulham as they are playing Forest and could give them a 4th straight loss since benching Turner.

Fulham up 2 at half. Decent (not great, not bad) from Jedi. Could have had an assist on another well driven cross.

Jedi has a very good feel when to bomb forward and when to hold the teams shape.

Jedi gets a rare rest in second half (75) with Fulham romping 4-0 over Forest.

Turner is probably not that far away from a new coach if this continues for Forest. The rumor before the game was Roberto Martinez was being lined up to take over and he is actually in the stands today.

I looked him up a week or so ago when these rumors just started. He appears to be a bit like Alex Mighten who filed last year. Good athlete. You can see some potential. But he's never really showed anything and he's already 21. It's entirely possible one of these guys ends up being a late bloomer. Low probability bullet but it's a bullet nonetheless.

Similarly, another rumor swirling now is that KDF is switching to the Domincan Republic. It's about the same. Guy with potential. If he ever puts it together, DR will have a good one.

Good Lord... Konrad. He and Owen Otasowi can join DR and actually get to play somewhere.
I don't actually think Owen exists as a player any more.

It is kind of sad, sounds like he has some serious mental problems he can't kick.

What a shame too. He was blessed with a physical body and touch that probably no other American was born with as a combination.

BREAKING: Colorado Rapids are in advanced talks over a potential deal to sign USMNT GK Zack Steffen from Manchester City, per sources. No deal is done. Complicated, but progressing. TBD. Steffen, 28, been with City since 2019. Would be huge get for COL.

Here is the Copa draw. Not a bad draw for the US at all. If we don't advance to quarters, I will be very disappointed

Canada (if they qualify) got an ooomph group.

Kinda wanted a bad draw. If we don't get to play Argentina or Brazil at some point during it I will be disappointed.
It set up for a semi final of

Brazil vs US
Argie vs Mexico

But that is only if everything works out perfectly, which rarely happens. If we come in second in the group, then we could play Brazil in the quarters.

I would prefer we get as far as possible no matter who we play, as number of games is probably as or more important than just meeting a great team and going out early.

These could be the last good games until 2026 for the team so I hope we can get the most out of them.

Gonna be hard to beat Uruguay in our group so likely get to see one of them in the quarters. If we do top the group it would set up an epic semifinal.

How hard will it be to get USMNT tickets for the Copa?
The group stage should not be that hard. They are playing in massive stadiums in the group stage.

Yeah, I know this is a WC warm up, but man COMNEBOL was smart to have the Copa up here as a warm up. They're gonna make bank this summer. Pretty much every game is gonna hold 70,000+ fans.

Brazil still carries the massive name, but for those not following Conmebol qualifying, Brazil is off to their worst start ever. After 6 games they are 6th in the table, and that includes being behind Ecuador who has a 3 point deduction for a penalty.

They have also been smart about scheduling the stadiums. For example Panama vs Bolivia will be in Orlando's MLS stadium.

I am very interested to see what the ticket prices will be. I assume the prices will be variable based on who is playing.

So you're saying that Mexico vs. Venezuela at SoFI stadium will start around $300 for nosebleeds?

I like a hard draw but in this case was hoping for anyone but Uruguay from the second pot. I’ve not looked at the bracket but assume 2nd place plays a first place team in the first knockout round so would like to have drawn anyone else from that pot because we can’t really expect to hang with Uruguay.

Yeah, not sure exactly how they decided the pots, but getting Uruguay over say Peru is quite a large difference.

However, if you view it as Uruguay and Ecuador really should've been pot 1 teams over the US and Mexico, then it seems a little more fair. Even with Uruguay in the group I think the US group is the easiest for us to get out of. We should destroy both Panama and Bolivia on good fields in the US. Paraguay, Venezuela, or Chile making it into our group would've made the situation a lot hairier IMO.

No idea if these are official source but the USA Today article had links to Vivid for tickets. Argentina/Chile at MetLife started at $568 for upper level at the ends. Anything toward the center even upper deck was $900 or higher. Lower level were $2000 to over $3000. These are no longer an option for a Xmas present for my son.

Dear lord....this is insane if true.

what in gods name are the WC prices going to be?

Feels like kind of a !@#$show with ticket sales already:
  • No announcement of when or how tickets will be sold
  • But some (not all) games seem to have some (but not all) tickets available for purchase already
  • The Copa America website can be viewed in English...except that the ticket info reg form doesn't get translated
  • Assuming that the tickets for sale aren't a scam, prices look sky high (although maybe they'll come down as more become available?)
