US Men's National Team (16 Viewers)

Th battle to make the last WC striker spot will almost certainly come down to the Championship.

Haji, Downs, Sargent, Agyeman, and Kelman all will be playing in the Championship this season.

Im genuinely curious to know what Poch thinks though...very intentional personal dismissal to not include somebody who was banging in goals at a highish level the way Sarge was.

I always considered Sarge better at all of the little tactical parts of the game- workrate, building team shape, defensivive awareness more than his individual abilities...the kinds of things i figured managers prioritized. So with that stuff PLUS sarge scoring lots of goals, there has to he something Poch sees and dislikes about his game that id love to learn about

Albert with another goal and a drawn pk yesterday in Dortmund's U19 match. I saw an all-touch video and I have to say, I'm getting more excited about him than Cavan Sullivan.

And Andy said it a bit ago, but Albert and Sullivan both playing in the U17 World Cup is going to be a party. Our 2008 class is probably the best class we've ever produced to this point and Sullivan and Albert (both 09s) are going to be starting a year up. I never know what everyone else has, but if our players are released, I honestly think we should be one of the favorites to win it.

We've talked a lot about LB Peyton Miller and he has continued his upward trajectory as he has locked down a starting spot for the Revs.

But a guy I was pretty impressed with yesterday was Luca Bombino as SDFC. He's a 2006 that just turned 19. I wasn't that impressed with him when I've watched him for the YNT but he's really come into his own. I don't think he's got elite potential, but he should be in line for Camp Cupcake this year after the U20 World Cup.

Chelsea smoked Milan 4-1 today. Pulisic out injured and Musah started and played 73 minutes.

Andrei Coubis for Milan had an own goal and a straight red card in the first 18 minutes of play.

After following him all week, i completely forgot about Musah for Milan
Multiple reports are saying Forest either have already or are lining up a decent sized bid for Musah. Not sure that the EPL will be any better for him.

It almost feels like he is one level too high for his current quality.

BWB vs Juve...

No Reyna. Campbell subbed in. Swag came off the bench...not a good look this late in preseason.
Reyna did not even dress it looks like. Why Dortmund won't let him go is so frustrating. They are literally tanking his value week by week and refuse to lower their price for him.

Yes- he wasnt even on the bnch. At least find a loan- its hard to see what their plan is for him.

From USA Today of all places..

"Gio Reyna was not in Borussia Dortmund's squad for its final preseason friendly against Juventus on Sunday due to an illness, according to a report from Ruhr Nachrichten.

Re: Parma...
Previously, Reyna was linked to Serie A side Parma, which is owned by American businessman Kyle Krause.

However, according to a recent report from Gianluca Di Marzio, the Italian club and FC Midtjylland are closing in on the transfer of Oliver Sørensen for a package worth €8-9 million, including bonuses.

The Danish midfielder has similar qualities to Reyna, which could see the Serie A club end its pursuit for the USMNT player."

Marco Silva has confirmed Fulham left-back Antonee Robinson will not be fit for the start of the Premier League season. Robinson has not played a single minute of pre-season after undergoing knee surgery in May, and Silva says the 27 yr old will not be ready to face Brighton next weekend.

Well sure
it feels like his chances to be ready for the Sept. window are very very small now. Even if he starts playing by then, I am sure Fulham will do the "please let him work back slowly and not have to go to international games" dance they have done with him before.

@USMNTOtaku

Nottingham Forest are in talks with AC Milan over a move for Yunus Musah. Club-to-club talks are taking place and if those negotiations lead to an agreement, personal terms are not expected to be an issue.

Yeah, the RB player eventually horse collars Luna trying to get by him...but Luna very clearly fouls RB guy first- cynical obstruction that very often gets the yellow. He got the yellow, unfortunately his second. Should RB guy have received a yellow? Maybe. Doesn't take away Lunas deserved yellow/red.

Those comments on the link are goofily homered myopic.

reading that Antonee is not fit for the start of the season 😥

Cavan in training..........well... he does not lack for confidence

So my youngest did a soccer camp run by Everton last week. And they brought in some guys from England to run it (the one doing my son's age group had actually worked with Norwich). And we were trying to impress one another. Me with my knowledge of every other soccer nation and him with his knowledge of the Yanks. And I was kind of lamenting what was happening with Gio and gave my spiel about Gio having the highest ceiling of any US player I'd ever seen. And he tried to pull Freddy Adu on me. And I had to explain to him that the problem with Freddy was that even if his work ethic hadn't been ****, he was never athletic or explosive.

Which is my long-winded way of saying that Cavan doesn't just pop because of his technique and confidence. He pops because he's quick and explosive too.

in case people missed it, Freddy was interviewed specifically about Gio. His perspective was interesting. I posted it earlier today.

It was. Never considered how being frustrated can manifest and show and turn the coaches off. Has to be hard to do and takes a conscience effort to not let it show. Something like that could actually explain some of Gio's issues at Dortmund. None of us really know, but this is something that we wouldn't see or know.

I love how putting on a happy face would've solved all of Freddy's issues.

You are right, it was only one of a laundry list of items for sure.

One thing Freddy was right about though, when ever he did play for the US, he did play fairly well. At least well enough that thinking about him having to play in the 3rd division in Finland just to get a game, in his prime, was unimaginable.
