Vegas (4 Viewers)

The D is a tad more pricey than a few of the other ones. About $750 all-in for 5 days. Also, this video saying it's very loud in the room. Anyone remember it being loud?
Just ask for a room on highest floor.....on backside of building away from Freemont
Yes, this. Live music on Fremont is very loud
Bar Canada on the 2nd floor of the D is good......love Circa.....but not the constant thumping music and the " have to show your ID" at all entries......even when you flash them a room key !!

The Wynn had two single zero roulette tables in the high roller are with minimum of $100.
There were zero people in the high roller area at every casino I was at. Granted, it was Wednesday and Thursday during the day mostly

We tried Mott 32 last time and it was outstanding. https://www.venetianlasvegas.com/restaurants/mott-32.html

Not cheap but really good.
Booked for July 5th. :banned:
Been there, it’s great. We’re going with a lineup of Toca Madera, Ocean Prime and Komodo starting next Saturday
You get into Vegas that Saturday or are you there before?
That Saturday
Dang, that's when we head out.

We have Juniper Bar and Best Friend tonight, also will be checking out Roy Choi's new food truck setup at Park MGM. Cubano incoming!

Just had a 3 night stay at Park MGM. Still really loving it there and it being smoke-free is such a bonus. Had a really nice meal at Toscana. Saw both Lady Gaga and the Brian Newman After Dark show at Park (the Nomad Library room is so cool). Our only bad experience this trip was terribly slow service at Juniper one night around midnight. It wasn't that busy so unsure what was going on. Hope the trip is a great one for you.

Agree 10000%, so nice to go from your room, gamble, eat, drink and not come back smelling like an ashtray. Best Friend is also a place we always like to hit, so that's a plus.

Missed out on the cubano since they had different hours for Sat and they weren't posted before hand.

Mott 32 was fantastic. We had the Traditional Iberico Pork Shanghainese Soup Dumplings, Shrimp Wonton Soup, Sweet & Sour Pork, Dragon Fruit, Aged Black Vinegar and Wok-Fried Angus Beef, Broccoli. All were exceptional, especially those dumplings. Could just eat those all night. :porked: The Peking Duck Old Fashioned I had was also great.

Back home today. Enjoyed the location and small footprint of Vdara. No real kick gambling, only saw $5 tables at Cromwell. Komodo, Toca Madera and Ocean Prime were all fantastic, as was Allē Lounge at Resorts World. Saw Absinthe for a 2nd time and thoroughly enjoyed it again.

Vdara is my preferred spot for the yearly conference I go to in August. I'm there for an entire week this year and I also like it because it sits between the two main conference hotels, the Bellagio and the Aria.

Booked a Junior Studio at the Plaza for Week One. I may have been the beneficiary of a glitch in their booking system, but it's still $134/night. I am comforting myself with the knowledge that I have a better-than-zero chance of getting the $40 nightly resort fee removed at the end of the trip.

Headed to Vegas for 4-5 nights in early April for the kids spring break. This is a family trip, not really any casinos etc. Just some hiking, hanging by the pool, viisting fun kid's stuff etc.

Anyone have recommendations on the best family friendly hotels without breaking the bank (IE $300/nt or less probably). Maybe a cool pool, cool kid's stuff, etc. Doesn't have to be on the strip, but can be.

ETA: Kids are 8 and 10.

Not sure about the kid friendly part, but we like Vdara. Nice location, no casino, smoke free and you have access to the Aria pools.

How old are your kids? If they are 12 years old and under—you should consider Red Rock Hotel and Casino. It’s a beautiful and clean resort—its right next to Red Rock Canyon where there are wonderful hiking trails, there is a wide variety of dining there, they have several pools, a bowling alley on site, a movie theater on site, and they have a Kids quest—which is basically a place where parents can drop off their kids—it’s like a big indoor playground area and they are supervised and can play with other kids while you and your wife can enjoy some casino or private time. The other types of places that you may want to consider are the timeshare types of places. You’ll get more room—as many of the 1 and 2 bedroom units at most have living rooms, kitchens or kitchenettes. You do generally sacrifice “luxury” at the timeshare resorts. They are family friendly and are more designed to be comfortable than they are to be luxury. Tahiti village has a lazy river that your kids would probably love. It’s located on Las Vegas Boulevard—but very south of the strip. Its right across the street from a big outlet mall, and it’s a 3 minute drive to Town Center l which is a beautiful outdoor shopping area (also on Las Vegas blvd). Town Center has a lot of great entertainment and dining options. Tahiti village also has free shuttles to Excalibur and Treasure Ilsland. Excalibur does have a kid area and I think they still have a show that is similar to Medieval Times. If you did stay at Tahiti Village—you would need a vehicle to go to hiking areas—as you would want to drive to Red Rock or Mount Charleston. Sunset Park is like a 10 minute drive from Tahiti Village—but that’s more like a big park versus a nature preserve.

Mandalay Bay has a nice pool and lazy river. It also has an aquarium.
That would be my pick if you're staying on the strip. Mandalay's pool area is great, there's the aquarium, and you're connected to Luxor and Excalibur, which I would think the kids would really like. Excalibur has a big arcade, as does NYNY which is easily within walking distance to MB. Excalibur also has shows kids would like - Tournament of Kings and Mac King's magic show (tickets can be had for very cheap).

Don’t sleep on the Lake Las Vegas area. Beautiful out there and far enough out, but close enough to Vegas proper.

Vdara is a great Strip hotel, but their pool sucks. I think they are close to or have finished refurbishing most/all of their rooms.

Circa is great downtown too. Stadium swim is crazy. Plenty of awesomeness to watch out on Fremont St.

Circa is fun but it’s adults only. I would 2nd the Mandalay suggestion for kids; great pool and atmosphere, on the end of the strip so normally not terribly crowded. Also has a brand new mini golf thing. MGM has a great pool too but property just seems more run down now.

I booked a flight in May on what appeared to be a soft weekend, then I realized it was Mother's Day. So I canceled that one and rebooked for Easter. :oldunsure:

Mac King's magic show (tickets can be had for very cheap).
One of the best entertainment values in town, full stop. It is kid-friendly, but there will be a line or a look every once in a while that flies right over the kids' heads. It's like Looney Tunes in that regard. I've never heard anyone say they regretted seeing that show.
I got up on stage and had to dance on a can of beans or something. I did something mildly inappropriate... it got big laughs from the crowd, but I felt kind of bad since there were kids there. It wasn't real bad, and the kids probably didn't get it, but it felt a bit weird. Fun being up on stage though.

I'll be there Easter weekend, too. Daughter's volleyball tournament. Ping me if you'd like to grab a beer or something.

Thanks for the recommendations, everyone.

Mandalay Bay was my first thought, but it is well outside the budget. There must be something going on April 2-3 there as the rates for those nights are like $700/nt even though they are mid-week.

Tahiti Village looks great, but is unfortunately not available for our dates.

Red Rock Casino may be the winner. Just barely above the top of the budget, and looks pretty cool for the kiddos. Plus I like the idea of being able to drop the kids somewhere and actually get a little casino action in.

Anyone have any experiences or thoughts with the three below? Rates are dirt cheap, like $100-$150/nt, and they look reasonably cool.

Hilton Vacation Club Cancun
Hilton Lake Las Vegas
Flamingo (I think they're opening a new pool in a couple of weeks)

Wow! that is the highest i've seen them.

I really like the resort. I am not a huge gambler. Love the pools and restaurants there.

Last time I was out there (few years ago) it still seemed nice, but not as nice as when it was a Ritz-Carlton. It’s a regular Hilton these days. The Westin out there might be slightly nicer, but never stayed there. I really like the area.

Stay away from Hilton Cancun. Very run down and understaffed. Flamingo is well priced and has an awesome location but it isn’t great for kids. Very college vibe there with the party pool and low prices. Its also very loud with the parties at the pool and the linq promenade next door. I cant speak for the lake las vegas properties

Going for March Madness, three nights. Staying at the Polo Towers because I thought it was the best bang for the buck.
Nice location. The boulevard shops just opened up right next to it. The rooms are dated and its certainly not luxury- but the full 1 bedroom units have a nice size living room, full kitchens, and some have balconies. Even the 1 bedrrom junior rooms have kitchenettes and some have balconies.

What dates are you going? I sometimes book my timeshare stays (tahiti village) through a company that specializes in timeshare rentals. I’m happy to reach out to them to see if they have anything for tahiti village for your date range. You can pm me the dates if you dont want to post the dates online

Flamingo is well placed mid-strip. Not sure about for kids though. Likely more rundown compared to RR.
Agreed. I’ve stayed at Flamingo many times. The rooms are fine but the casino is on the older end and I don’t think there is anything kid friendly about it. Also, that is not an area of the strip that I want to be with kids. Red rock is a great suggestion. Very kid friendly and plenty of fun for the adults as well. I loved it there.

I'm pretty sure the new pool opening at Flamingo is adults only. The family pool never closed.

Haven't been to Vegas since 2005 but going there in two weeks to see The Eagles at The Sphere. At this stage of life, I'm far more about convenience and reducing aggravation than I am being at the coolest property on the strip or seeing the coolest attractions (well, other than the Sphere, I guess).

Staying at the Tuscany Suites - pretty reasonable rate and it's 0.7 miles away from The Sphere, so we can walk there and back and not have to fight for a taxi or walk far after the concert. The rooms come with a fridge, which is nice and there's a liquor store across the street, which is convenient for those who like to brown-bag it.

I don't really care about pools either - just want a good spot where I can watch and bet on college hoops, drink beer and play some blackjack here and there.

Is there a casino at Tuscany Suites now?

Yes, though I don't think it's very big. Which is fine by me. I just want a spot where I can hole-up with a beer, play some video poker, put in some bets, play some cheap black-jack and get ready for the really big show.

Have a blast, but take crossing those streets seriously, even if you're wasted. Two people a week are run over and killed there. You try to moonwalk across Flamingo, you're getting smoked.

Adding this to the "plus" column....

Sister lives a few miles west of the Strat. She was at Brooklyn Bowl for a show a couple of weekends ago. Said everything around there was absolutely dead. A Saturday night on the Strip. Crazy.
