Week 05 2024 who should I start thread **OFFICIALLY UNOFFICIAL** (1 Viewer)

Bonus:
12-team 1 QB league.

Pick 3 of these 4 mediocre starters!
Najee vs DAL, JaWill @ LVR, Tyrone Tracey, Trey Sermon.

Right now leaning Najee, JaWill, Tracey, the Sermon is tempting.
Personally I start Sermon over Tracy but, if it's PPR I'm told Tracy is a good receiver. But since it looks like Flacco is starting I think Sermon may see a few targets as well.
Oops, yes PPR
I still probably lean Sermon because it seems like a more competitive game. not sure what to expect from the Giants.

not sure what to expect from the Giants.
That’s my fear. But as you said, Tracey could be a PPR stud.

And Sermon has never shown me anything. Ever.
Has Tracey ever shown you anything? Or is he just the shiny new toy?

Sermon has shown the Colts enough to be the unquestioned backup to JT.

Definitely go Tracey if you're feeling it, there really is no way to properly project these guys

Imma flip a coin.

Came up Sermon.
LFG!

Big fan of the coin flip.

PPR flex spot
Wan'Dale Robinson @ Seattle
Brian Robinson Jr vs Cleveland
I could also start both of those and bench DJ Moore vs Carolina (but I kind of feel like he's the Bears main weapon and should be started)
Anyone have advice on this?

Missed this.

I think Wan'Dale is going to see a ton of targets, right?

I like Robinson too but I personally would be going with Wan'Dale.

And I stick with DJ, too.

Thanks @Chaka and everyone else as always, I try to keep my questions to a minimum and not too dumb. Interesting one (to me) this week. My matchup is evenly rated.

Need 1 WR, half-ppr, keep 4 league, although the keeper part should not play (?? lol) in this start decision:

Waddle @NE (ugh, and the reason for this post, this would be my last choice)
Lockett v NYG (lower variance, boring choice)
T. Atwell v GB (higher potential, but near impossible to judge if it will be Atwell or Whittington)
J. Whittington v GB (see above)

I picked up Atwell and Whittington earlier this week because I didn't know between the two and was hoping for some further clarity that never came (that I saw). Also, I will need to drop Atwell or Whittington to pick up a K for the week, so that makes a small impact for longer-term (this year) potential use. I don't think I'm at the point of dropping Waddle yet.

TIA

I couldn’t convince myself to bench waddle but I get a good feeling about Whittington.

If Flacco starts @ Jacksonville, would anyone bench Caleb vs Carolina for him? SF, Purdy is my 1, Caleb vs Joe for the flex.
Looks to be a tight game as my opponent started London.

Probably Atwell then Whittington. Either one is better than the others right now.

Flacco is starting and I would lean him without Taylor in there.

Need one of these for flex spot...

Dell v. BUF (may need to air it out to keep pace with BUF; re-injury risk?)
Mostert @ NE (NE can't score so MIA may grind it out; pitch count?)

PPR, 6 pts for TDs, 5pt bonus for 100 rushing/receiving, bonuses for long TDs

thanks

Separate league. Flex spot.

Jennings v. ARI
J. Williams v. LV
JSN v. NYG

PPR, 6 pts for TDs, 5pt bonus for 100 rushing/receiving, bonuses for long TDs

Thanks

As @Ministry of Pain pointed out in his matchups thread Atwell has 8 receptions for 175 yards over the last two games on 11 targets. Whiting has 9 for 90. If I'm taking a chance on one of them it's Atwell.

But I still believe in Lockett. He has 17 targets over the last two games and I still believe he has, perhaps the best ball tracking skills in the game.

If you're worried about Seattle being run heavy definitely go with Atwell. He might be the best option overall. For me I think I roll with

Lockett>Atwell

I probably still go with Williams because I think he still has a higher ceiling.

But flacco constantly proves people wrong.

No idea.

I lean Mostert at the moment.

I want to say Javonte. Good matchup and he's still a lead RB.

But each option has merits.

Kittle is playing this week so Jennings ops may be slightly down.

JSN could be in a romp.

Javonte>JSN>Jennings

FTR JSN & Jennings are on much better teams and the more I think about it you might want to roll with one of them. But I do like Javonte for potential volume and matchup more than the others. So personally I stick with him but I do worry just because it feels more like a hunch to me than based on actual analysis.

Continue to appreciate the information and effort going into this thread. Many thanks:

Pick 1 play please / Non ppr / standard scoring/ flex spot/ 8 person league

Coleman @ Houston
Sermon @ Jax
Won’Dale @ Seattle
J Smith Njigba vs NYG
Atwell or Whittington vs GR Bay

TIA

PPR

Flex Likely @ CIN or Emmanuel Wilson @LAR?

Leaning toward Wilson because Likely has so much variance and Wilson has been more involved, but Wilson’s ceiling is pretty limited barring a major jacobs injury.

12 team PPR

Brian Robinson or Z Moss, both have knocks going in these games, not great matchups for both, one is seemingly loosing snaps and the other has a bad knee and Ekeler is back. Currently leaning Moss.

Need 2 PPR:

Zay Flowers vs Cin
Pickens vs Dallas
Amari Copper vs Wash
Lockett vs Giants?
I like Pickens against that porous Dallas D without Micah.

Flowers and cooper are close. Feel like that ravens-bengals game will be a slugfest, so I would slightly lean toward cooper as I think he has a higher ceiling, but flowers seems like he is getting better balls to catch right now.

Wan'Dale should see a bunch of volume, which is all you can ask, even in non PPR.

I can see why this is a tough choice.

The best QB/matchup combo is probably JSN.

And I always like a starting RB...

Those are my top three and I probably lean

JSN>Sermon>Wan'Dale

Leaning toward Wilson because Likely has so much variance and Wilson has been more involved, but Wilson’s ceiling is pretty limited barring a major jacobs injury.
In PPR, because they have similar floors and very dissimilar ceilings, I probably lean Likely and hope for positive variance.

It's a coin toss but Robinson has a much better matchup. The Ravens are the #1 rush d in att-yds-y/a, the Browns are 16-20-22 in those categories.

On paper the Commanders are less likely to get run out of the building too.

Robinson>Moss

Okay, PPR league.

McBride is Q but trending towards playing.

I have Kmet in as my starting TE (early game) as a hedge against McBride (late game) being a late scratch. I have McBride as my flex with D. Slayton as an option if McBride is out.

Question: Do I slide McBride in as my starting TE and bench Kmet v Car for Slayton @ Sea?

If McBride is out my only real option is to drop Jaylen Wright or Isaac Guerendo (I have Mason) for Schoonmaker (Dal), D.Washington (Pit), N.Gray (KC) or Juwan Johnson (NO).

Cam Akers v Buf
Dare Ogunbowale v Buf

With Mixon out three games Akers snap% are 21%, 43% & 40% with 29 rush & 4 target and 1 TD.

Ogunbowale has had snap% of 32%, 42% & 39% with 4 rush & 8 targets and 1 TD.

Ogunbowale is the clear receiving & 2 minute back for Houston ATM.

Buffalo has given up the 2nd most fantasy points and 2nd most receptions to RBs.

I think it's a competitive game and Akers probably sees his most touches of the year and probably gets into the endzone once. Just seems like the potential for so many points, you'd think they get a rushing TD

Hopefully I can help. I would probably keep Kmet in at TE so you have the afternoon game option to grab Slayton if McBride cannot go. Kmet has a tendency to play well at home. There is risk here as we know TEs have been hit miss lower than expected value so two TE plays might be troublesome

In Standard, I probably go JSN. If you need upside/home run swing, go Coleman

Need 2 PPR:

Zay Flowers vs Cin
Pickens vs Dallas
Amari Copper vs Wash
Lockett vs Giants?
Cooper #1. Washington Defense is bad and giving up 10 TD's to WR's through 4 games.
I think Pickens #2. Dallas D isn't great

I don't trust Flowers with how wewll Baltimore is running the ball.
Giants are a nice matchup, but Lockett is arguably the #3 in Seattle and Pickens is the #1 for Pitt. He had so many redzone/endzone looks last week too, just feels like Pickens is due.

Javonte for me. Nice game last week vs Jets. I think Seattle uses Walker and Metcalf first. JSN could have a big day, but it also could be a blowout early and SEA runs the ball most of the 2nd half.

Dell. I don't think you can trust Mostert at all right now. Miami offense is incompetent too.
