Week 05 2024 who should I start thread **OFFICIALLY UNOFFICIAL** (1 Viewer)

.5 PPR:

Flex: Mattison or Stevenson
I know the talk about Gibson is a real concern but facing the Denver D in Denver seems like a bigger concern to me.

Stevenson>Mattison
Cool, thanks, that is my thought. Maybe if Stevenson sits a couple series, it will right the ship with him.
Mattison has been so up and down during his career. Plus like you say, DEN D is tough and its at home and they definitely are on fire right now.

My Flex is Achane vs NE or Najae Harris vs Dallas. it's 0.5 PPR. I'm currently sitting Achane but having second thoughts. Is Harris enough to bump Achane to the bench. I have Ford too but not really considering him much

Achane is obviously a big problem for a lot of people this week. I don't know what to tell you, he should still see 15+ opportunities and he is a big play guy, isn't he?

But, Najee should see another 20+ opportunities with Warren officially ruled out. Dallas is down Parsons & Lawrence and Diggs is now questionable.

Yeah, I can see starting Najee.

Najee>Achane

Here's one:
FFPC scoring:
Assuming they are all active:
Need TWO flexes:

T.Sermon @ JAX
J.Downs @ JAX
R.Doubbs @ LAR
E.Engram vs IND

One more:
FFPC scoring:

How about TWO of these flexes:

Javonte Williams vs LAV
A.Mattison @ DEN
T.Dell vs BUFF
A.Lazard vs MINN

And ONE of these flexes:

J.Jennings vs AZ
C.Parkinson vs GB
T.Tucker @ DEN

And ONE of these monsters:

R.Mostert @ NE
S.Perine vs NO
G.Davis vs IND
Z.Ertz vs CLEVE

Jauan Jennings against the cardinals or rashid shaheed against the chiefs?
I like Jauan. He's the hot hand and seems to have played himself into a role regardless of the status of the other pass catchers.

I think Shahid is going to be the high variance guy he's always been. Maybe a little more consistent this year but, we'll see.

Javonte and Lazard pretty easily.

Jennings also pretty easily.

Last one is a little tougher but I favor Ertz because it's FFPC & Daniels is playing lights out.

Pick a QB. 6 point passing TD
Justin Fields home vs Cowboys
Geno Smith home vs Giants
Kirk Cousins home vs Buccs (I got a great deal on a time machine off Ebay. Hoping it arrives here before the 1 PM kickoff).

Steelers have both Patterson and Warren out. You can run on Dallas, but will it be Fields or Harris doing most of the running? Micah Parsons is out, Demarcus Lawrence is on IR, Trevon Diggs is Questionable but was DNP on Friday.

Giants have Nabers out and Singletary doubtful, so not likely to push the Seahawks on the scoreboard. Walker has been on fire so they might just trample the Giants underfoot. Only good part of the NY Defense is their pass rush, so might not want to expose Geno if not needed.

FBG consensus has Geno 6, Fields 9, Cousins 17.

It's a gut call. I guess I use the Miami game as a blueprint for Geno.

We always need to worry that Fields turns into a pumpkin but, I think he's going to need to do more to help Pittsburgh win than Geno will to beat the Giants

Fields>Geno

LOL WTF???

Uhhhhhh...oh man.

I guess I would be looking at Melton under the assumption Doubs & Watson are out & Reed's role doesn't change. As I understand Reed isn't a "perimeter" WR. I don't know if Melton is but...sure. And, I'm hearing the Rams suck against "perimeter" WRs. I guess the concern is the Packers roll but you should never underestimate a McVay coached team

Slayton too for similar reasons but the Seahawks have a good defense. You can hope the Seahawks roll, which seems a distinct possibility.

Then Akers, I guess, because he should get the start and starting RBs need to be considered no matter what. I do worry that Dare Ogunbowale will eat into his role as he seems to be the clear receiving back and 2 minute guy. He is worth considering as well.

Probably in that order but, wow...good luck.

D question.

Targeting either side in the NE/MIami game.

Has an O/U of 36. Two terrible offenses.

NE is at home, but is banged up at safety with Dugger and Peppers hurt. Miami has looked horrendous, but Huntley has another week under his belt and without a doubt has more weapons (Hill, Waddle, Mostert, Achane) at his disposal vs the NE offense. Gonzales could be on Hill and fared well against him last year.

NE should be able to run the ball against the Miami D, but Miami's pass D is tough. NE's offensive line is also in a complete shambles as they lost their main man in Andrews for the season. I don't know how Brisset can survive.

Who?

Miami D?

Or NE D?

Thanks

Thanks. 14 team deep league (start 11 O, 11 IDP) + injuries + bye week (Saquon, Goedert) = that seemingly limited set of choices.

I have underperformers too like Dameon Pierce or Ty Chandler, but thankfully it’s the final few slots on the end of the flex.

Is Pierce even going to play? I just saw that he is actually questionable. Man, I have no idea what to think about that guy.

The problem with Chandler is you know he is a backup going into the game. At least with Akers you have the hope he will be the starter, but you'll have to wait until they announce inactives tomorrow.

0.5 PPR - flex play

Sermon vs Jags
Hunt vs NO
Interesting.

I lean Sermon because it's a better matchup, a bit and he has that unknown shine to him also a little bit.

Hunt is the safe play but in my book:

Sermon>Hunt
I'm waiting on todays practice report for Chiefs. I just wonder if Hunt will get more volume and passing down work where Sermon may lose that work.
Yeah, Kareem is definitely more likely to be an every down (mostly) back. He is decent in the passing game.

Indy isn't great at feeding RBs out of the backfield, certainly not with Richardson under center so that could be a deciding factor when considering potential volume for each player. But, Indy does seem to be a one RB team. Tyler Goodson has only seen 12 snaps all season, only one last week. Sermon only has 42 but it still says something about the Colts belief in Sermon as the backup.

It's a coin toss and Hunt could very easily be the right choice.

Standard scoring. With the ARich news...

Flacco vs Jags
G.Smith vs Giants

Also for last flex, please pick from:

Pickens vs Cowboys
Achane @ Patriots
Wicks @ Rams

Thank you

Need two. Full PPR.

Wicks(Rams)
Wan’dale(Seahawks)
Tee(Ravens)
Aiyuk(Cardinals)

I’m really leaning Wicks and Wan’dale which sounds crazy but Wicks almost feels like a must start at this point with Doubs out and a great matchup and Wan’dale has no Nabers and it’s a full PPR. He might catch 12 balls.

Am I crazy?

PPR

Since it seems like Flacco will be QBing tomorrow...

Jakobi Meyers @ DEN (their defense scares me)

or

Josh Downs @ JAX (but this could just be chasing points from last week)

. PPR
Wicks @ LAR Doubs and Watson Out)
Achane @ NE
Thomas Jr vs Ind with Egram out)
Pick 1

Hunt vs NO
Worthy vs NO
Pick 1

Thx

PPR flex spot
Wan'Dale Robinson @ Seattle
Brian Robinson Jr vs Cleveland
I could also start both of those and bench DJ Moore vs Carolina (but I kind of feel like he's the Bears main weapon and should be started)

I like Flacco and Geno both quite a bit. I guess I lean towards Flacco because he has a more suspect run game and the Colts are less likely to roll the Giants. Although the Giants could win and the Colts could roll, who knows?

Tough to sit Achane but, at this point I may roll the dice on Wicks with no Watson or Doubs. The Rams are a tough out and Love needs to throw the ball somewhere.

With the Patriots new RB news I need to decide on which one of these to start in a full ppr league.
Stevenson v MIA
Dowdle v PITT
Tracy v SEA
TIA

PPR league. Have a bunch of "meh" and wrestling with 2 of:

Ekeler v CLE
Mattison v DEN
Sermon v JAX
Rhamondre v MIA

Considering your options I would cross my fingers and hope Stevenson's benching is only the team sending a message for the first snap.

If you're not down with that I guess Tracy would be my dart throw.

Don't like Dowdle against that Pittsburgh defense.

I might risk it on Sermon. He is in line for starter touches and I can't confidently say that about any of your other options. He also has a decent matchup.

Rhamondre would be my next choice, with the hope he is being benched only for the first series. Also a good matchup.

Standard PPR...it's ugly, pick 4

Three of Ferguson, Charbs, Swift, Hubbard, Tracy
One of Tolbert, MWilliams, or Whittington off the wire.

Swift, Hubbard and probably Ferguson but I could be talked into Tracy in PPR format, as I understand it he's a pretty good receiver.

Literally zero clue on the second one. Seriously, I had to think which team each guy was on.

Tolbert because Cooks is on IR but... really no clue.

Need a WR for my Flex spot. 16 team PPR, no bonuses.

Jordon Whittington or Tyler Lockett?

Felt like Lockett was a no-brainer, but will the G-Men be able to score enough go make Lockett relevant?

I checked a few sites, including FBG - they all have Whittington over Lockett or a tie.

Your thoughts @Chaka, oh swami of the selections?

Bonus:
12-team 1 QB league.

Pick 3 of these 4 mediocre starters!
Najee vs DAL, JaWill @ LVR, Tyrone Tracey, Trey Sermon.

Right now leaning Najee, JaWill, Tracey, the Sermon is tempting.

I have no firm opinion on either player but Lockett has games with 7, 8 & 9 targets, I'm still a believer in his ability to come down with the big catch. If the Seahawks roll the Giants it means they put a lot of points on the board, it's reasonable to hope Lockett gets some of those.

Personally I start Sermon over Tracy but, if it's PPR I'm told Tracy is a good receiver. But since it looks like Flacco is starting I think Sermon may see a few targets as well.
