What is your favorite license plate (1 Viewer)

I should point out, that Texas plate is an old plate. These are the new ones. They decided to go with the 1970's generic brand theme.
Loving that. Throwback license plates? Sign me up.
It's weird that their not embossed, either. They almost look like temporary tags.
The previous red/white/blue ones were not either.
Yup. I had those on my Mustang until I just got my car. But with no embossing and black and white layout, looks fake.

The first letter on Idaho plates is the county, for letters with multiple counties they add a number in front. 1A>Ada (Boise), K>Kootenai (Couer d'Alene).

I've always thought Colorado and Oregon plates looked good.

The old NM plate with yellow background, red Zia symbol, and "New Mexico, USA" was my favorite. Now they have the gay balloon plates and turquoise plates.

The TX Large Star Black plates look awesome on black cars.

You can't even get special interest plates and get a different color. For example, in PA, you can get like the DARE plates that look pretty bad ### on black cars, etc. NJ? Nope. They're ALL YELLOW.
:lmao:

Wait a minute... West Point? Notre Dame? Penn State??? They aren't even in New Jersey. WTF?? :lmao:

Any other state offer up a license plate celebrating another state????
Tons of UNC Virginia tags

I was driving into Boston last summer and spotted an Alaska plate on the SE Xway. Thought that was interesting, then thought to myself, "Too bad I'll never see a Hawaii plate around here."

Yep, less than 10 minutes later. Too bad I was driving and couldn't snap any photos.

And yes, the standard Mass. one is pretty bland, but there are a lot of charity/specialty plates and such (I have a UMass alumni plate).

The Delaware black/white tag is top notch. The prices for the low digit tags are INSANE.
I've always liked those tags too...but selling tags? You can do that? I guess it just has to be unregistered from one person, and given to another to re-register, right? First I've ever seen of that.

Yep, its a simple process. At least in DE. A friend of a friend owns that site. He does very well. I'd love to see what 69 or 666 would go for...

FWIW, Asian people love 8's. They're good luck. My family in Thailand spends TONS of money to get license plates that are "8888888," etc. My one uncle has a garage full of exotic cars (made millions in real estate), and nearly every one has a license plate full of "8's" in some quantity.

Seeing it out on the road I always liked New Hampshire.

That new Mississippi one is nice.

Montana... Lol. Looks like it belongs on a big rig. I guess that's Montana. Can't imagine that plate on a Mercedes.

My friend married an Asian woman on 08/08/08 because of this. No ####.

Dude, I totally believe it. They're nuts about numerology. As lucky as 8's are, 4's are unlucky. A lot of asian buildings do not have floors with the #4 in them...so Elevator buttons go 1,2,3,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,15, etc. I asked my Dad one time if they just re-named the floors, or what...he said that some buildings actually have like a double sub-floor, so they can actually say that there is a "4th floor," but he imagined most just renamed.

I would like Wyoming's if it did not have that hideous 3M font
What means this?
Indiana started up with the flat plate technology from 3M and the plates came out with the hideous font for the ID characters. Many other states (including Wyoming) followed suit making plates a lot less attractive. Thankfully 3M came out with an alternate font for the flat plates and several other states are now using that. Even with that, it took away from the embossed plates all states used to have.

I was doing some research since we started talking about this and it seems a lot of states are not happy with 3M. They had sold them on the idea that they were easier to read, yet showed no proof. And now LEO's are saying they are having trouble seeing them. Also, they had said the process would save states money by using their method and some states are seeing a 50% increase in costs since switching. Very interesting.
