What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (2 Viewers)

Hey @Wingnut Where you at in FL? Can't remember? I'm in Palm Coast for the week. Not sure if I'll be able to get out much, but if I can is there anything close worth seeking out?

I have a buddy in Wesley Chapel. He may scoop me from Orlando and then I'm going to crash with him. So anywhere around those to areas or close enough I should go to?
I'm in Lakeland, about 25 min east of Tampa. The only East Coast places I know are down south...no idea what's around Palm Coast, it's pretty much in the middle of nowhere.

Wesley Chapel...nothing really close by...but you'll be less than 30 minutes from Angry Chair and the new 7venth Sun (theyre about a mile apart), and theres a good bottle shop (Jug and Bottle Dept) 2 blocks from Angry Chair that also has several beers on tap for growlers.

Escape brewing in Trinity is prob 30 min due west from Wesley Chapel but if I had to pick I'd of course go with 7S and AC.

As for bars, restaurants etc that have a good beer selection, I'm no help. I pretty much only drink at breweries and beer stores. :banned:

6th page....ooof

Had a nice haul between my brother and I today:

CBS x 2

No Rules x2

Triple Barrel B B B x2

and the following singles:

Cafe Deth x2

2012 BCBS

2016 KBS

2017 Willettized x2

Wicked Weed Milk & Cookies Imperial Stout. Just meh....Feels like a Porter and not anything special of note. Wouldn't get again.

Checked out a new brewery in Orlando tonight, Ellipsis Brewing...they have 3 NE IPAs on and they were all excellent. So now Ive got another good IPA source 45 minutes away. Theyll have a crowler machine soon....@Hawks64 next time youre down here, this place is right off the 528 by the Orlando airport, not far from your in-laws' place (or was it your parents' place? either way its not far form where you stay). #LEGIT

That's awesome! And yeah it is my in-laws place, they are in Hunter's Creek so 15-20 minutes.

Last night stopped at Docs BBQ in Mokena. The tap list  is awesome. Hard to beat $6 Black Note and BA Blackout Stout pours. Also had The Bruery 2016 Mash and Coconut, Bells Traverse City Whiskey Barrel Aged Porter, and Sun King Senor Timmie (blech).

Food was good. I’d consider going to the Dyer location and making a stop at Windmill.
I was travelling for work and stayed in Schererville, IN.  I went to Docs in Dyer.  It was awesome, and yes the tap list was extensive.  I was looking for a lager and ended up drinking a local beer Game Over Man Kolsch by St. John's Malt Bros. Brewing.  I liked it a lot.

I liked it enough that when I had to go back to Schererville, IN again about a month later I went to St. John Malt Bros. Brewing in St. John, IN.  While I was there I had Mr. Coconuthead Porter, The Linger Longer Lager, Flavor 32 Butter Pecan Brown Ale, and Abominable Snowpants.  I also had their Pint of Bacon and Soft Pretzel appetizers.  The food and the beer were good.

Some of my co-workers went to 3 Floyds in Munster.  I also went to a place right in that area called Region Ales that was pretty good.  I have not been to Windmill but I think I saw it as we were driving to the hotel.  Some of my co-workers have been there during a previous trip.  I'll be back in that area again in January if you have any suggestions.

Had a Half Acre Big Hugs yesterday.  I enjoyed it until I followed it up with a Deth's Tar.  Them BA stouts are ruining me for plain old stout.

NOW YOU TELL ME! I was looking for a place near the airport. I hit up 7th Sun and Angry Chair. 7th had great hoppy beers and I loved their barrel aged barley wine. I hated the 2 stouts though. Angry Chair ws hard for me to give a fair review. The bar tender was a total ****. Like complete #######. So I just slammed some tasters and hit the road.

I just found out about Ellipsis this past Friday, and went Saturday. Had I known about I would have definitely let you know. They just opened like a week ago or so.

Theres a guy that works at A.C. whos always kind of a d-head...cant remember his name, but he even looks like a jerk. Lol

Yall are all  crazy over the BCBS and I'm over here in Butler PA drinking Troegs Hop Knife harvest ale. Meh. Tomorrow we drink the better stuff.
I spend a decent amount of time in Slippery Rock for work.  I've been to Timber Creek and North Country.  Any others I should hit up while I'm there?  I generally stay near the outlets in Mercer if that helps at all.

I have no clue where any of those places are...it was my first trip to Pittsburgh and we went to Brew Gentleman, Dancing Gnome, and Voodoo.

Just busting your balls about Ellipsis. I bet that's the same Angry Chair guy. They need to do something about that.

Christmas beer recommendations???

Recently tried....

Great Lakes - Christmas Ale (lots of Xmas spice)

Point - Pistachio Nut Brown Ale (sweet, takes like that pistachio fluff stuff your mom used to make could only do one of these.

Sam Adams - Winter lager (a bit milder on the Xmas spice flavor than the Great Lakes)

Sam Adams - Old fezziwig (always been a favorite of mine at Xmas time)

any other recommendations?

Apologies if this has been covered but didn't see it.

Is there a good way to buy beer online like there is for wine?  Like Gary Vaynerchuk's https://winelibrary.com/

Or club type stuff like http://www.insidehook.com/nation/the-10-best-online-wine-clubs-for-gifting
shipping beer is expensive and some states have restrictions on where they can ship.

is there a particular beer/beers you are looking for? if you're in a larger city you may be surprised by what the better beer/liquor stores carry.

Ahh, ok.  Butler is right near all those places.  For whatever reason I assumed you were from the area.  Thanks anyway.

I’m no beer snob, but I’ve got a couple of friends that consistently rave about a double IPA made locally by the Melvin brewery. If someone is interested hit me with a PM and I’ll do my best to hook you up. Maybe work some form of trade?

https://melvinbrewing.com

I’m a novice beer drinker. Mostly like pilsners and fruity stuff. My favorite lately is a Hefe/Grapefruit combo called Schoffenhofer (AP?).

Please let let me know if I’m out of line posting this in here. Not sure how you guys operate.

Windmill for sure. Three Floyds. $18th Street. CdL can provide more.

Agreed. And my bank account. Drago on tap tonight.

Looks like I'm going to Hailstorm for the BA coconut and maple coffee Vlad releases. Probably stopping at Docs too for some CBS.

Think all are welcome here GB! I'm sure more than a few would be willing to trade, I know a few of us here have done a fair amount of it.

Not a BA variant and not sure where you're at now BG but the assistant brewer just did an Imperial Stout over at Noon Whistle called Schwing that is really good. If you are ever planning on stopping lmk I get $4 drafts all day every day there now.

Went to 81Bay last night.  Had the 81 Bay Breeze Berliner Weisse and Strawberry Mojito sour.  Also enjoyed the Ramble On Raspberry Ale.  Nice selection.  Really want to head to Angry Chair for that peach vanilla sour I’ve heard about.  I’ll be checking in from Hawaii next week for something completely different.  :excited:

I will let you know when I finally hit Noon Whistle. It will happen someday...

$18th Street Fragile Egos NEIIPA. They've seemed to have hit their stride with these. I hate the prices but they are really good.

Got there during the summer. They’re doing good stuff. They recently did a collab on a NEIPA with a local (for me) tap room / beer shop in Romeoville called Iron & Glass. Squishy Buddy. Just had one tonight and really enjoyed it.

Stop in for one at Sound Growler too. They’re right in Hailstorm’s shadow. Making good beer and the tacos al pastor are fantastic

Next time you're there PM me, literally 5 minutes from there...would be legendary to cornhole with Limp!!! As to the beer I've heard good things, mainly Paul and Jess, it's their first go with lactose. Hopefully they don't run through the whole allotment so we can try some up here.

ETA tried to PM you but your inbox is full.

Will do. At that I&G place, that was my first go at NW’s stuff and it was Squishy Gummy. Damn beer was so good I gave a lol of disbelief after the first sip.

:excited:

As for that I&G place, this week is their first anniversary. Doing stuff all week to celebrate.

Yesterday they released the Squishy Buddy.

To follow that up, here’s what they did today

FINAL REMINDER FOR TODAY!

3 Bourbon County Kegs tapping today.

4pm Bourbon County Coffee
6pm Bourbon County Stout
8pm Bourbon County Reserve (Knob Creek)

Got myself in there for a Coffee right after 4:00. They had at least 50 people in the door at the time I showed up.

I saw this. Gummy Buddy and it looks pretty damn good.

I've only been to 81Bay once, a little over a year ago, and I didn't have anything memorable...maybe I'll revisit one of these days.

Just cracked a super fresh 7venth Sun Mangrove DIPA...this batch clocks in at 10% ABV and is smooth and not overly sweet. I'm so glad they'e finally canning. They have 3 or 4 different canned beer in their cooler right now.

ETA: good luck finding something good in Hawaii, I have no idea how the beer scene there is.

At Hailstorm now and bottles are already gone. Disappointing, so I will have to find it in distribution. But the coconut is ####### incredible.

Picked up a nice variety for the holidays.

King Sue - Toppling Goliath

Space Cake - Clown Shoes

Milk Stout - Milkkeller

Belgian White - New Belgium

Xtra Citra - Surly

Cutthroat Porter - Odell

Holiday Cheer - Shiner

Nice assortment. I'd add some stoutage and or some barrel aged to top it off.

Trying to tame my budget as of late. Picked up a 4 pack at Lowe's foods of Saranac Brewing Basking in Bourbon. It's not bad. Put it in the Dragon's Milk category.

On a side note...beer budgets are for the birds..
