What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (19 Viewers)

Also, last night I had....

Two Brothers Askew

Summit Unchained #7 - Honeymoon Saison

Shipyard Smashed Pumpkin (full disclosure: I didn't buy this, I just helped my girlfriend drink a bottle of it  )

New Glarus Raspberry Tart

Sierra Nevada Tumbler x2

Raspberry Tart....incredible.
My gf's favorite halloween beer

Went to Costco today, and grabbed a case of their Kirkland brand IPA.

Standard IPA, nothing special. It's good, but not necessarily 'outstanding'.

Raspberry Tart....incredible.
For those who like the NG Raspberry Tart (and their Belgian Red), I would recommend the Cran-bic from Dan Carey's Thumbprint series. In stores now in WI.
Cletius, hare you still seeing the cran-bic around? If so, what part of the state. Down by me I can't seem to find it, I would imagine a trip to Discount in Milwaukee could net me some cran-bic. I bought the Chocolate Ale yesterday and plan to try one while watching the Badgers tonight. On a side note, anyone heading to the Canadian Breakfast Stout release today? I am hoping to get some from my liquor store, not sure how much I can get.

 it was a blend of 3-year, 2-year, and 1-year sours, IIRC. I got it as an extra in a trade back in May...I think it was released around that time.

Celebrating a Brewer/Bucky Day with a majority of Wisconsin Brews:

New Glarus Coffee Stout

Point Black Ale 2012

Capital Autumnal Fire

New Glarus Chocolate Ale

Central Waters Brewhouse Coffee Stout

another New Glarus Coffee Stout

then may actually drink a Leini's Berry Weiss

Also enjoyed a Bells Octoberfest

Here in Virginia, we don't have private liquor stores like Maryland (where I grew up); you buy beer in grocery stores, Rite Aid, convenience stores, etc... So you don't find the smaller exotics in the beer/wine aisle in those places. However, their are a couple of gourmet places in my small town that sell higher-end beer and wine. Stopped in one today and bought a bottle of Augustijn Belgian Ale (it's corked like champagne). I'm no beer expert - usually drink the grocery store brands - but man, I really like this. It's on the lighter side, which I prefer.

They had quite a bit left at Discount two weeks ago. Let me know if you can't find it.I see the Raspberry Tart won the gold at GABF yesterday.

Do you have a Whole Foods near you? My brother in Virginia gets all his craft beer at his Whole Foods. They have even have good growler fills.

Also got my hands on Fresh Hop Mirror Pond from Deschutes. Very similar to the Northern and Southern Hemisphere Harvest issues from Sierra Nevada, which in a word is -- awesome.

Alexandria, Chantilly, Chesapeake, Fairfax, Fredricksburg, Manassas, McLean, Newport News, Norfolk, Richmond (south), Springfield, Sterling, Virginia Beach, Richmond (west)

Drinking a Short's Noble Chaos Oktoberfest. It is a unique take on the style as it is an Octoberfest with a kick of hops. It is well balanced and quite enjoyable.

hops heavy the last week:

Ithaca Flower Power

Founder's Harvest Ale

Short's Humpa Luma IPA

Surly Furious

Finch's Cut Throat Pale Ale

got the last bottle of Founder's Canadian BS from my local store last night. :headbang:

I liked the Chaos. I'm not a huge fan of that style so wold never buy a 6-pack or tackle a bomber by myself, but a glass at the right time of year is nice. Not sure which IPA it was. I went back to look at the empties and noticed I also had a Cigar City Madura and a Surly Bender that night. :bag: I think my buddy took home the Short's empties for homebrewing. The IPA was pretty good though. Not as hoppy and bitter as I normally like my IPAs, but definitely drank the whole thing and would revisit.

Had some Southern Tier Pumpkin Ale tonight and some good stuff. :excited: :banned:

Unfortunately it seems hard to find in the DC area. I bought the last 2 in the store I found them

Making hay while the fresh-hop varietals are still fresh with a bomber of Port High Tide Fresh Hop IPA.

Um, yeah, it's good.

It's been forever since I had a sam adams cherry wheat because I didn't like it last I tried it. Had one tonight and it wasn't all that bad.

Baltic Smoked Porter from Great Divide Brewing tonight. This stacks up well against Stone Smoked Porter -- a little lighter mouthfeel and a little more subdued with the smokiness.
