What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (5 Viewers)

didn't get over to Buster's tonight, but i did make it to the other World Market location in my area. Didn't have as much of a selection but they did have some different ones. Tonight I'm trying...

- Sam Adams Cream Stout

- Red Hook ESB

- Red Hook Blond Ale

- John Courage Amber

- Hoegaarden Original White Ale

- Leffe Blond

- Weihenstephaner Hefe

Alesmith ESB. One of the smoothest beers I've had. Mouthfeel is thru the roof.

Not very complex...but has a nice malty sweetness on the tip of the tongue. Very drinkable

Red Hook is exactly OK. Don't expect to be impressed.

Just started a St. Bernardus Prior 8. Definitely nice stuff.
Great beer. Thanks to Wingnut and Kilgore, I've sampled most of what they offer. But still, I wish I could get it here.
Odd you can't get them. Local store sells the four beer (6, 8, 12 & triple) and glass set for $12. Great deal. Great beers.

That IS a great deal. I'll have to look for that next time I make it to my store for Belgians.

all new to me. The Blond Ale was OK, the ESB was not impressive. I did like the Hoegaarden and Weihenstephaner though.I'm finding that I seem to like the wheats better than anything else. :banned:

Had two 12oz Meretti Dark out at an italian restraunt - Beleive or not this is an excellent beer.

Just got home and popped a Shakespear Stout bomber.

What did you think of the Summerfest? I had it last year. Wasn't all that impressed.

My mother in law brought me the Three Floyd's and Bear Republic when she came up for easter.

Rogue XS (ceramic bottles)
Is this their Imperial IPA?They've got it at the local liquor store, but it's $15!

Will have to wait for a very special occasion . . .
The Imperial IPA, Imperial Stout and Old Crustacean Barleywine are the Rogue XS Series I believe. The Morimoto Imperial Pilsner also comes in the ceramic bottles.

Its not bad...Kinda crisp and refreshing, but pretty thin. Good quencher I guess....I had a SN IPA after the SF and I liked it better. It actually had a good dose of hops, which I wasnt expecting.

No kidding. I got lucky. Every time she comes to town she asks for a list. :)

Geez, every time my in-laws come to town, I have to go buy crappy beer - Miller Lite or Natty Light (depending if it's her father or step-father).

Got down to the Outer Banks a few hours ago. The indoor pool at the hotel leaves a bit to be desired and the weather sucks. Spent about an hour in the hot tub and the pool. Time to find the Outer Banks Brewing Station.

At the risk of destroying my beer geek cred, I just has a 32 OZ. Miller Lite draft. Not a huge fan, but damn if it didn't wash down the mexican food at Miguel's in Charlotte perfectly on a warm outdoor evening.

Now off to some IPA. :banned:

Good beer there! Wasn't as impressed with the bock as I'd hoped, but it was pretty damn good. Was more impressed with their hefe. Very good. I want more.

Having finally shipped off my end of the trade to Furley (a 750 ml St. Bernardus Abt 12 and two 330 ml St. Bernardus Witbiers), I got to enjoy the New Glarus Wisconsin Belgian Red that he sent me. It wasn't exactly what I was expecting, as the fruit flavor was more pronounced that I anticipated, but this is a really great beer. I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking for a dessert brew.

haven't seen the Belgian Red at my local since shipping to you. i wonder if it's gone extinct 'round these parts?

Yep, Summerfest is not their best offering. I had one last year and was not too impressed. I also had their Wheat recently, which I thought was less than stellar. I'll stick with their Celebration, Porter, and Pale Ale.

You have to judge Summerfest for what it is, which is a pale lager. Its not going to bowl anybody over with a big hop or malt profile. Instead, its meant to be drunk cold and go down easy. The Summerfest is an upscale lawnmower beer. Its too bad that many of the American Micros don't try to make a really good lager to drink. My personal favorite is the Victory Prima Pils.

Opened up the Alesmith's Speedway Stout and Old Numbskull yesterday. Great beers. Moved on to a Sam Smiths Imperial Stout. Then last night had the Capitol Brewery - Blond Dopplebock from the BOMC 1. Hog heaven.

Went to a little beer store down here in NC. I wanted to go with some stuff I haven't been able to get or local (NC) brews. I guess this is what I'll be trying tonight.

I'll be interested to hear your take on it. A lot of folks around here seem to like it, but I don't remember being that impressed when I tried one. Still probably the best bottled IPA made in NC, which isn't saying much. If you like dark beers with a kick, see if you can find a Highland Tasgall Ale.
