Just popped open a 2005 Terrapin Big Hoppy Monster Imperial red ale. Great "Big Daddy Roth" style hotrod on the label, which is appropriate as this stuff pours like Valvoline.

If we go there, it would be for my wife's job. I would just move up my timetable to go live with my trading account. As of now, I am set to launch in Q2 2007. Not a bad little town at all. GREAT brewpub - serious close-on-Victory-quality beer and the food is excellent - and the Berkshire Museum is fun for kids. The thin dude on the label passed away last year. He was well into his 80s, maybe his 90s. The dude with the glasses still visits the brewery on a regular basis.

I appreciate your affinity for small regional or just citywide breweries. I actually had an excellent Belgian Wit from a local brewpub tonight. Hack, if you are still reading this thread, you would have liked it. But there is so much good and fresh beer out there that is often time brewed within a few miles of your home.The only Edenton for me that has stood out somewhat is the Big Boss IPA (although it still has balance issues). I totally agree that the Highland IPA is lacking, but overall they are a pretty good brewery (granted they contract brew some of their stuff). I've been impressed with Duck Rabbit. A good brown utilizing Amarillo hops that stands out a bit from other browns. As well as interesting takes on the Milk Stout and Imperial Stout. Yeah, as people in this area get used to good craft beer, our local scene will only get better and better.Hell yeah - have a bottle of the Tasgall somewhere in the beer room from my last trip south a month or two back. I have a better idea - head over to Ocean Township for the Heavyweight open house on Saturday. They're closing in July (going to try and start a brewpub/beer bar in the Philly metro area) and if you haven't, you *need* to try Tom Baker's brews. Smutty is worth the pilgrimage - plus the Portsmouth Brewery, a brewpub affiliated with Smuttynose and which has, among others, NE brewing legend Tod Mott at the controls of the brewhouse (he's the one levitating), is nearby and worth visiting as well.I have fallen in love with the beer. How much money do you think it takes to open a brewery?Ok, tonight ended being an excellent beer night. Started off with a Surly CynicAle, then to Delirium Tremens on tap, then an Old Horizontal, then Rogue Mogul on tap and finished it with another Surly CynicAle. What a great beer night.
I am going to say it right now, when Surly finally bottles, they are going to be big in the craft brew circles. I am talking maybe FFF or Stone or Dogfish big. Their beers are that solid and they don't care about what the norm is.

There is no question in my mind that the Dreadnaught is the best IPA on the market. I would put it at my #3 overall.
Its just so ridiculously good. I've never had a non Imperial Stout that was this thick on the palate. Whats up with that?

Mine has been in the fridge for months.I scored a Sam Adams Chocolate Bock tonight but drank some margaritas instead - a friend came over that makes kick ### margaritas so I said WTH and held off on the SACB for now.
Tomorrow night Im all over it though.
