What made you feel old today? (1 Viewer)

Rode the courthouse elevator with a group of girls in their early twenties. One of the girls had a shirt that read, “I’m literally just a girl.”

We caught each other’s eye and I deliberately looked down at her shirt and made it obvious I was reading what it said. I then gave a shake of the head and said, “No Doubt.”

She gave me a look like I had two heads and clearly didn’t get the reference.
So cringe
Agreed. Lesson learned. No more of trying to make what I think are clever jokes to girls who may seem like they are my age but obviously aren’t.

Getting old sucks.
My daughters know that song and still probably would have missed the reference and gotten away from you as quickly as possible.

That said...I definitely admire the cleverness

I’m at a Korn concert and they’re celebrating the 30th anniversary of their debut album that came out when i was a freshman in high school
Same thing happened to me this summer seeing Def Leppard and they were celebrating Pyromania came out 40!!!!! years ago wtf
The release of Pyromania lies at the midpoint between today and the Battle of Midway. In other words, you were as far removed from WWII when Pyromania was released as you are from the release of Pyromania today.

That’s wild

It's better than the alternative.

I thought I tore my ACL climbing down an extension ladder while patching some cedar siding on the house on Sunday. Never felt pain like that in my knee before, and still had a bunch of trips up and down it to finish.

Feels better now, but when climbing a ladder makes you believe you tore something, youse is old.

My 40-something year old sister dislocated her knee yesterday slipping in her kitchen 'cuz her boyfriend's dog got in her way or something. While I feel for her, I'm sure this is making HER feel pretty old. Sucks for her big time, since she cuts hair for a living and may not be able to stand for long periods of time for awhile.

remembering earlier today how when i was around 7-8 my friend's parents used to give him $2 every day in the summer to feed himself since they were at work all day. we'd walk to the deli and get a french bread pizza, a lemonade and a small piece of candy.

every day.

for $2

We started to play. I was clearly a better basketball player then him, but my footspeed was so bad. Mentally, I was crushing him off the dribble and going to the rim, but in reality I was settling for jumpers because my legs weren't quick enough. I FELT SO OLD that day.
You're lucky you only lost your footspeed. Achilles, ACL, calf, hammy,...................all are at risk playing pickup basketball

my 13 year old the other day, telling a story about a new friend at school. they're learning about each other. things like favorite music, pets, siblings, parents, etc.

somehow the topic of my birthday being soon came up so the other kid asked how old i was going to be. my kid told her "i dunno, like 50, i think?" (close)

and apparently her friend gasped and said "OH MY GOD! YOUR PARENTS ARE SOOOOO OLD!"

the kid's mom? 29

Dude, I've seen you and can vouch that you don't look a day over 49. :P

I'm turning 41 in a few weeks....just got diagnosed with freaking shingles.

Getting old SUCKS
Oh, man. That is before the recommended vaccination age. I'm so sorry.

Yeah, its really not ideal...especially since I'm leaving for a trip next Monday. Hoping nearly 2 weeks after after start of symptoms (started feeling "the tingling" last Monday...didn't know what it was. Didn't see any physical symptoms until Wed morning) will get me to a point where I'm not totally miserable.(hopefully it's most scabbed up by then, which my doctor said friend is s distinct possibility)

But the blisters are gross, ugly and painful at times. At least it's an excuse not to go into the office this week.

And I doubt you want to give chicken pox to your warm, close, personal buddies.

Family trip. All other travelers have had the pox. Also, should be well outside the contagious window (7-10 days from first sign of symptoms, per the professionals)

But yes, I obviously dont want anyone else to have to deal with this. REALLY sucks. I'd rather have COVID for a month than deal with this again.
