Anytime the Flyers get beat in the playoffs it's a good memory.1990s
- Darren McCarty's goal to effectively win game 4 of the Sweep over the Flyers - first Stanley Cup in 42 years
Crazy, yes. Dramatic, yes. But I don't think a 10-9 game can be called the greatest WS game ever played.Only possibly the greatest World Series game ever played.
Add in being in St. Louis, and it's on my list for sure.
ETA -- Worth the 6 min watch (craziness REALLY starts at 2:20 mark in the 9th inning)
So you remember where you were when all these happened? I imagine watching Russell Wilson's first 7 seasons in one go was quite the marathon.Well then there's always.....
Buster Douglas knocking out Iron Mike Tyson
Usain Bolt running an amazing 9.58, and a 19.19. Once again, outerwordly.
Christophe LeMaitre the first non black sprinter to run a sub10.00
Tom Brady win a sixth SB.
Russell Wilson have the best first seven seasons by any QB ever.
Christian Coleman run a WR 6.34 60m
Michael Johnson running a stunning 19.32 in 1996, STILL the American record with nobody remotely close.

It wasn't PPV. It was shown on HBO.Every Tyson fight at the time was still a big PPV draw. I didn’t watch this fight but I remember stopping by a party that was going to watch it later.
Why not ask the others here who didn't say anything about where they were?So you remember where you were when all these happened? I imagine watching Russell Wilson's first 7 seasons in one go was quite the marathon.

yeah, and they really like to slappa da base after every strike.same here. I don't believe I have ever watched college bowling before. It is apparent that it is important to have a "strong base" for success in the sport.
The best-looking one was missing an incisor tooth that was pretty disturbing.
“He’s sitting on 714. Here’s the pitch by Downing. Swinging. Here’s a drive into left center field. That ball is gonna be … outta here! It’s gone! It’s 715! There’s a new home run champion of all time, and it’s Henry Aaron.”When/What : April 8, 1974 - Monday evening - Henry Louis Aaron, Jr. hit his 715th home run. I was 6 years old. It was a big deal and what I remember most was how humble Hank Aaron was and you really got the feeling Hank wanted the whole thing over with already because there was so much buildup to it the preceding year when he had gotten so close.
Where : In our home watching it on TV.
You overestimate how much anyone outside of St Louis cares about Cardinals baseball.Well, even without being a fan of the teams involved, it is worth the watch. Being down to your last strike, not once but twice (9th inning and 10th inning) and then follow that with a walk-off homerun? In an elimination game. It was amazing sports theater.
Also, same season, I completely forgot, was game #162 of the regular season. There will never be anything like it again. I remember watching all night just in awe. It still doesn't seem real.
2-5 Seahawks team beating a 3-5 Cowboys team in Texas Stadium was that memorable eh?Cowboysfan8 said:Emmitt breaking the all time rushing record
Ya should have stuck around shuke.Every Tyson fight at the time was still a big PPV draw. I didn’t watch this fight but I remember stopping by a party that was going to watch it later.
Me too. :highfive:I remember where I was too: Dodger Stadium.
At night in the eastern time zone. Sometime between 9 and 11 PMTo people talking about Tyson-Douglas, what time was this on? The fight was in Tokyo.
But if it was 9:00 PM Eastern time, wouldn't that make it like 10 in the morning in Japan? Did they really have the fight at 10 AM there? That is crazy. At night in the eastern time zone. Sometime between 9 and 11 PM

Yep - Friday or Saturday too - great for us party boys who had to pool all our money together to get the PPV - or whatever it was at the time.At night in the eastern time zone. Sometime between 9 and 11 PMTo people talking about Tyson-Douglas, what time was this on? The fight was in Tokyo.
hmmm - i thought we had to pay - i mean other than a subscription...HBO broadcast
What, you didn't like when I said it was HBO and not PPV? There was no PPV back then for Tyson.hmmm - i thought we had to pay - i mean other than a subscription...
was there a PPV option?
Oh, I had no like or unlike - I was just trying to make sense of my memory. What, you didn't like when I said it was HBO and not PPV? There was no PPV back then for Tyson.
It still is Henry Aaron.“He’s sitting on 714. Here’s the pitch by Downing. Swinging. Here’s a drive into left center field. That ball is gonna be … outta here! It’s gone! It’s 715! There’s a new home run champion of all time, and it’s Henry Aaron.”
Agree to disagree - 1960 WS was bonkers, and a strong candidate for the greatest finish in WS historyCrazy, yes. Dramatic, yes. But I don't think a 10-9 game can be called the greatest WS game ever played.
