last night.  My couch.
Yet another event I missed where I was in the bathroom.

Well then there's always.....

Buster Douglas knocking out Iron Mike Tyson

Usain Bolt running an amazing 9.58, and a 19.19.  Once again, outerwordly.

Christophe LeMaitre the first non black sprinter to run a sub10.00

Tom Brady win a sixth SB.

Russell Wilson have the best first seven seasons by any QB ever.

Christian Coleman run a WR 6.34 60m

Michael Johnson running a stunning 19.32 in 1996, STILL the American record with nobody remotely close.

So you remember where you were when all these happened?  I imagine watching Russell Wilson's first 7 seasons in one go was quite the marathon.

Why not ask the others here who didn't say anything about where they were?

Dude, why the constant attitude?

:lmao:   same here.  I don't believe I have ever watched college bowling before.  It is apparent that it is important to have a "strong base" for success in the sport.

The best-looking one was missing an incisor tooth that was pretty disturbing.

yeah, and they really like to slappa da base after every strike.

god bless that long lull between the 2nd and 3rd NBA games.  my buddy and i were just flipping around and amazed that women's college bowling was actually on TV.

When/What : April 8, 1974 - Monday evening - Henry Louis Aaron, Jr. hit his 715th home run.  I was 6 years old.  It was a big deal and what I remember most was how humble Hank Aaron was and you really got the feeling Hank wanted the whole thing over with already because there was so much buildup to it the preceding year when he had gotten so close.

Where : In our home watching it on TV.
“He’s sitting on 714. Here’s the pitch by Downing. Swinging. Here’s a drive into left center field. That ball is gonna be … outta here! It’s gone! It’s 715! There’s a new home run champion of all time, and it’s Henry Aaron.”

Well, even without being a fan of the teams involved, it is worth the watch. Being down to your last strike, not once but twice (9th inning and 10th inning) and then follow that with a walk-off homerun? In an elimination game. It was amazing sports theater.

Also, same season, I completely forgot, was game #162 of the regular season. There will never be anything like it again. I remember watching all night just in awe. It still doesn't seem real.
You overestimate how much anyone outside of St Louis cares about Cardinals baseball.

I don't usually post links like this, but since the Michael Johnson was posted (awesome one).

On that relay.  Just watch.  So all I can really remember of watching this was jumping up and starting to scream at the tv when he closed the gap a bit  at the last turn.  I don't think I've ever screamed during an event like that.  I'll never forget that last leg.  Even among astonishing sports moments it stands out.

Ok, I screamed after the Donovan goal.  But only after.

Where were you when the Clippers staged the biggest comeback in playoff history?  Against the invincible Golden State Warriors.  Down 31 points.  On the road.

99% were in bed, hehe.

But if it was 9:00 PM Eastern time, wouldn't that make it like 10 in the morning in Japan? Did they really have the fight at 10 AM there? That is crazy.

The Boston Herald's Ron Borges, a longtime boxing writer, was with the Boston Globe at the time when he was one of six American journalists who made the trip to Tokyo to cover the fight, which took place on Sunday morning in Tokyo to accommodate the live Saturday night HBO broadcast in the United States. Borges will never forget what he witnessed.

What, you didn't like when I said it was HBO and not PPV?  There was no PPV back then for Tyson.
Oh, I had no like or unlike - I was just trying to make sense of my memory.

I was certain we all chipped in for PPV.

Maybe, we just chipped in for a brief HBO subscription.

Thanks for the clarification, bry.

👍

Yes, Tyson-Douglas was HBO, not PPV.  Oddly, Tyson only had 1 PPV main event prior to this, vs Michael Spinks.  As must-watch as Tyson was, there was skepticism as to whether people would buy a PPV for fights that only last 1-2 rounds.  Also, PPV was in its genesis at the time; many were going to closed circuit telecasts and going through all that trouble for a 1-2 round fight was an even bigger ask.

It still is Henry Aaron.

2010. Giants are so close to winning their first championship in over 50 years.

At a local sports bar, place was packed with Giants fans. My son and I hugged complete strangers when Renteria hit that 3 run homer.

But there was one person who was not a Giants fan. It was like the bottom of the eighth during a pitching change. Bar is quiet everybody nervous. Then we hear a big "Yes!". One lone Colts fan was watching Monday night football.  Every body cracked up in the bar

I remember the Day Ayrton Senna  died in Formula 1, in 1994. I had the worst hangover of my life, and had to walk 10 miles from a buddies house after seeing the crash live on TV. I believe it was ESPN at that time.

Evel Knievel's jumping of the Snake River in 1974. I went on a cross country trip in 1998, stopped at Sturgis SD for Bike Week. ran through a parking lot to take cover from a t-storms and rain downpour, and next to the bldg I was standing by was the rocket thing that Knievel jumped and crashed it, on display, with the whole front end banged in. took a pic of it was a great day , seeing that piece of history right next to me!

Eric Heiden's 5 Gold Medals in the 1980 Lake Placid Olympics. overshadowed by the USA hockey team. watched every drop of that entire Olympiad from my living room couch fixated on the TV..could NOT believe the size of Heiden's quads dude was a giant

Mets' 86 win over Boston in game 6 , was on the phone with a buddy who moved to Boston, his family were huge Sawx fans. I was like 'congrats man you deserve it been a long time for Boston' and i hear him say oh, ####, oh no..oh f**k I've gotta go..' Bucker's error was happening as we were speaking.LOL.

BOTH Giants' SB wins against NE, 1990 SB win, and the 86 Giants win over Broncos.

the Curt Shilling dismantling of the Yankees with the 'ketchup ankle' game  I was at a bar and the snickering cry baby Yankee fans were comical. its ketchup! he's a fake.lol.yeah ok. he's also the greatest post-season pitcher of all time.

ND/Miami catholics v convicts game. house party with all ND fans and me the only Miami fan in the room.
