Who has off tomarrow? (1 Viewer)

Columbus Day was always one of my favorite holidays because not a lot of people in the private sector had off.
Not only do I have today off, but I'm taking tomorrow off as well, because the Bills play on MNF and I can.

At some point, I will be able to cash out my accrued vacation time. Until then, my balance is maxed out so it's use-or-lose-it, and I prefer not to return vacation time back to the state.

Same situation. I maxed out at 50 days in my bank in July (thanks COVID and WFH).

So I have to basically take at least 2.5 days/month until spring when I travel for my college son's baseball trips.

Get 6 weeks/year now...........that is really hard to take.

I chose to read this in Livia Soprano's voice.

Election day in slippers and a hoodie. 4 holidays in November make for a disjointed month at work.
four?
Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Day after Thanksgiving.
 I know they did this a few years ago but it's not really a thing every year
I don't get election day or day after Thanksgiving off.
we give people time to vote or the day off if they need it but most of my coworkers are registered out of state and have to mail in their votes. A few forget and try and get the day off and I have to remind them they aren't even California registered voters :lmao:

I always get the mail in voting ballot and then fill it out at home and then drop in a drop box. No need to wait in lines or mess with that crap. Much easier that way.

Gubberment it's my rdo
Last year it was my RDO. This year it's not.

ETA: Its funny that all non govie people get surprised that I don't automatically get the day after Thanksgiving day off. They just assumed with all the federal holidays that it would be one.

We have some pretty liberal holidays.
  • Election Day in even years
  • Day after Thanksgiving
  • Week between Christmas and New Year's (Last working day this year is Dec 20 - back Jan 2)
  • Added 3 floating holidays to replace these fixed holidays
    • Good Friday
    • Easter Monday
    • Juneteenth

Day after Thanksgiving is 96 hour rule.
only if our Admiral grants it, otherwise it's butts in the seat

Long weekend! Now that I'm back in the office every day, I look forward to holidays more than I used to.

It seems like 2-hour early releases before a holiday are a thing of the past. :kicksrock:

I’ve been contemplating moving to AWS with every other Friday off but so far I’ve just kept the straight 8s, which lets me get home by 5. I’d change but I already put my leave requests in through October and it’s a pita to change all of them. In the winter I like getting some daylight when I get home.
